It is pretty cool. I can respect his view that he told exactly the story he wanted in exactly the format he wanted.

That said, it still kind of sucks that he'd never help make at least one of the movies based on his comics even half as good as the comics themselves. Miller kicked some major ass with the adaptation of 300 by being so intimately involved.

Movies just aren't Moore's bag. What I want to know is how The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen was able to be made into a movie. The characters are all in the public domain, but the idea is something that I would assume Moore owns the right to. Wouldn't that mean that he would have had to sign off on that movie?

Yeah, but you do that long before the movie gets made. Once he did that, there was nothing he could do to stop it.

Liked it the first time, hated it the second time.

As an adaptation, it's horrible. As a movie on its own, it's actually quite boring, but not bad per se.

Alright, just so everyone is on the same page. Can we stop thinking that Peter Parker made that deal with Mephisto? Because, anyone who's read it definitely witnessed Pete getting ready to tell Mephisto to shove it when Mary Jane Watson took it upon her self to make the deal for him.
I find comfort in that fact, knowing what Pete valued most.

I don't like the idea of MJ being Jackpot, but I guess there's a reason why she's going to be playing that role. My guess is that she actually does still remember and by knowing what challenges Pete faces every day, she still wants to help him...or be there for him somehow.

She's kind of screwing up as it is though. Sort of like how Spider-Man started out. Whatever she whispered when she made that deal is another mystery, but I'm sure it included bringing Harry Osborn back. It didn't include Gwen Stacy (which I feel better about.)

I'm starting to cool off (obviously) and as much as I didn't like it, well, I guess it just shows how attached I am to the characters. Really, you guys who didn't read it, Pete and MJ were just about as pissed as all of us are.

But there's still Loki, plus MJ still remembers. Pete has mechanicals again and there's that hot blond with the glasses.

Now, the deal with Mephisto was a major deus-ex-machina. A huge one! It's the break Pete always needed and it was one he would have never taken out of his own free will. The fact that MJ did it, well, someone finally did something for Spider-Man for a change.

The damsel saves the hero. I want a wife like that.

- Peter expressed his doubts, but he was certainly not about to tell Mephisto to shove it.
- He gave his permission, thereby still making a deal with the devil, whether he initiated it or not.

He could've been pissed until he was blue in the face, but the fact remains that he (and his wife, if you want to mince words) accepted an offer from the devil to make May live again, despite May's own wishes.

I'll have to go back and read it. But I do remember him being cut off and MJ making conditions to the deal with Mephisto. She whispered something in his (Mephisto) ear, to get that extra push. It wasn't Pete, but MJ who sealed the deal. How would you respond if you refused to trade your marriage but then your wife decided to go for it?

Corp- It wasn't really like Adam and Eve. MJ did it for Peter.

PJ- your sarcasm is funny. Really...like, funny haha, not funny as in queer.

For **** sake, you guys are acting like I had it totally wrong.

I had the part right about MJ jumping the gun and Peter being hesitant. From where I'm standing, she still pushed him to seal the deal.

I won't complain about how quickly someone jumped to find evidence to prove me wrong, when I clearly admitted to not being totally clear on it my self and even said I'd go back and reread it. Such "gusto" is admirable...I guess.
