I'm thinking right now I'd give 75% to AoU and 25% to SW7 in chances of winning this fight. I'm sure Disney doesn't care though, they win either way.

As one executive puts it, if Star Wars: The Force Awakens doesn't score the biggest debut ever when it hits theaters Dec. 18, he'll "run up and down Sunset Boulevard naked." So how high could J.J. Abrams' reboot fly? The top U.S. opening is The Avengers, which launched to $207.4 million in May 2012 from 4,349 theaters. Disney's sequel, Avengers: Age of Ultron (May 1), could become the new champ, but many believe Force Awakens has every chance of outrunning them both, even with the distraction of Christmas. Globally it could rake in nearly $540 million, topping the three-day record set by the final Harry Potter film ($483.2 million). "If it pleases the fans of the old movies and also appeals to kids, watch out," says box-office analyst Phil Contrino.

Even now I don't see TFA doing bigger numbers than AoU. Just ain't gonna happen but if I end up being wrong I'll gladly admit it.

It could very well happen. If it has tremendous word of mouth, I think it could quite likely overtake AOU.

AoU has done great, but below expectations. So it is looking more and more possible that TFA outdoes it.

If TFA is better than Abrams' last movie then it is likely to outgross Avengers 2.

SW7 is not only a new Star Wars movie, an event in itself, but has the OT cast returning which is monumental.

No contest

If Jurassic World's first weekend tells us anything; it's nostalgia eliminates any bad will left by sequels. Star Wars will be huge.

Star Wars.I hate to tell prequels haters but those films did just fine.I know people want to act like prequels were epic failure and now J.J. Abrams has to rescue star wars from
terrable George Lucas but star wars films will do just fine.add to that return of original cast despite disney not wanting to use much of them In promation.

Look at what Jurassic World is doing.Star Wars dwarfs that franchise.

Eh, the argument has basis, but there's still one very big difference between Star Wars and Jurassic Park: generation. The kids who were excited about seeing Jurassic Park are now parents with kids of their own. The kids who were excited about seeing Star Wars? Had kids of their own *during the prequels*. Its those kids who have kids of their own now.

Yeah, it's now triple generational. And unlike Jurassic World, they are bringing back the old stars...

If JW is any indication, SW7 will OBLITERATE every boxoffice record there ever was.

Who knew this would end up being a battle between Star Wars 7 and Jurassic World?
