I think what people want to know..is 300 better than GR?Ive heard the money comparing also.

300>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>GR

Did a little checking myself, and if you are going to quote, at least get it right. Took GR 23 days to reach 100 million. 300 took 8 days. Just keeping the record straight. :woot:

Thank you my good man.

Although 300 was good, its not as good as Ghost Rider I'm sorry to say.

I finally saw 300 today. I felt 300 was suprior on almost every level as far as a movie except there's nothing cooler than that Hellcycle. 300 was more polished and every scene was beautiful and it moved flawlessly. It did however seem like a movie I've seen a few times under a better disguise. So yeah I enjoyed Ghost Rider quite a bit but I give the edge to 300 no matter what my bias is.

For all those people who complained that Ghost Rider had too much 'camp' and that the story was too linear need to stay quiet if they are going to compare it to 300's linear, predictable, campy, ultra-stylized gore-gy.

The only thing that was unique about 300 was the action, the story is flawed, the characters are so blindly uninspired that they might as well have had 300 Leonidas's fighting for Sparta and nobody would even notice. And whats up with Northern Europeans playing Greeks? Cant they find any Greeks to play Spartans?

"they might as well have had 300 Leonidas's fighting for Sparta and nobody would even notice." -maybe thats cause the spartan soldiers basically had the same mentality as each other. they were trained to be nothing but a perfect soldier.

linear? well it rele only does have one story to tell, and thats about soldiers fighting against incredible odds to help their ppl.

predictable? Of course it was predictable, it is History you know.

campy? sure it had campy moments, but the movie wasnt OVERLY filled with it like GR was.

ultra-stylized gore-gy? i dont know what "gore-gy" is, less you mean gorey. but anyway, it was "ultra-stylized" cause they wanted it to have the same feel and look as did the 300 comic.

the story is "flawed" b/c its based on a Comic, which is based on a movie made in the 60s that frank miller saw as a kid, that is based on the actual event. frank miller liked the story so he made it into a comic, i dont think he wanted it to be exactly historically accurate. if he did im sure he would have done so. theres also the possibility that the way the movie was is because it was narrated by A Spartan to Other spartans. back then and even now, when someone tells a story they tend to exaggerate or remember it differently. so maybe the reason why everything was the way it was is because its how the narrator remembered it.

2 different franchises. You can't compair the 2. FF has 5 decades of history behind it. Much more difficult to being to the big screen. A guy on fire, riding around on a motorcycle, that's not too complicated to bring to the big screen. There is no comparison, none. I'm not a GR fan, but from what I know the movie was pretty good. Simple, to put togeather. No where near as complicated as The FF.

IMO it is much more difficult to make a GR movie that is successful than it is an FF movie that is successful, FF has a much bigger fan base, not just of the comics but TAS as well. There may be more to condense into an FF movie, but it is much harder to make a succesful GR movie IMO. However, I do regcognise that FF was at a MUCH WORSE studio.

^ That's right these are two separate franchises one at Fox and one at Sony that both deserve upgrades from their initial film. Both safe sanitized plays but overall harmless and enjoyable. Nothing that can't be fixed, upgraded, and made much better than the original. They got all stupid on the Superman Returns film (which was great) but unoriginal and now what? Sequel? JLA? Who the hell knows.

Erm, SR IS getting a sequel AD, its been confirmed on numerous occasions, even recently.

^ The most recent news was that they might go JLA instead unless that was disputed.

^ The most recent news was that they might go JLA instead unless that was disputed.

It has been disputed, 2 people who worked on SR came on the Bluetights boards and both said they are working on the sequel as well speak, Singer doing his WWII drama will have no effect on the release of the SR sequel, just like The Prestige had no effect on TDK.

^ Who were the two people disputed it. Were the execs or vendors.

One was the guy who did all the extra's for the DVD, he said he filmed Bryan signing the deal for the sequel, the other was a producer i think, Alex De Large his name is.

^ I'm sure the sequel will be made but someone signing for a sequel doesn't mean they'll do it. Ask Matthew Vaughn. ;)

There is also a new article today that confirms that Tom Cruise is going to be the main star in Bryans new thriller & at the end it said that while working on the movie Singer will also be working on the Superman Returns Sequel & that will begin right after this thriller is done. All signs are pointing to the sequel is happening next year.

Or Nick Cage. Remember the SR dibachle ? Cost WB 20 million. :wow: Only in hollywood can you sign someone to do a movie, and say even if we don't make the movie, or decide not to use you, we'll pay you. Where do I sign up ? Wonder how much he got paid for GR ?

Good to see this is no longer a Superman/Singer thread like it became 4 posts ago........

"they might as well have had 300 Leonidas's fighting for Sparta and nobody would even notice."

-maybe thats cause the spartan soldiers basically had the same mentality as each other. they were trained to be nothing but a perfect soldier.

Spartans were trained to be potters, politicians, leaders, and 'breeders' too. It wasnt uncommon for a Spartan man to have sex with a women (that wasnt his wife) that had a high probability of having sons. And each Spartan warrior decorated his shield with something unique. Spartans were not machines.

inear? well it rele only does have one story to tell

And it didnt tell it. I didnt see 300 spartans , I dont think I even saw half that number fight.

campy? sure it had campy moments, but the movie wasnt OVERLY filled with it like GR was.

"Hoo ha!" I think this movie takes the cake in cheesiness. The difference beween GR and this film was that 300 was taking itself very seriously.

ultra-stylized gore-gy? i dont know what "gore-gy" is, less you mean gorey.

No I mean Gore-gy, thats what you get when you mix Gore and Orgy. Which was the basic story of this movie - Stylized violence and sex. No real epic story.

Well the comic had characters in it that looked more like Greeks, not like Scottish extras from Braveheart. I did flip through the book a couple times since it was at my local comic store back in the late 90s and I dont remember Rhinos in it, but I could be wrong.

Speaking of the narrator, wasnt he Boromir's brother in LOTR and Van Helsings side kick? Damn he has worked his puny self out.

he was in LOTR too? dang, now that ya mention it i recognize his face from LOTR but not his voice. his voice in 300 Kinda sounds similar to his voice in VH.

as for your complaint about the actors not looking more like greeks but scottish extras from braveheart. i rele dont know what a greek looks like these days or back then, but i dont think it matters less they werent caucasians or whatever. white actors of all kinds of nationalities play characters whos nationalities are different from theirs all the time.

I just dont understand why they couldnt ever use Greeks in movies about ancient Greece. I mean Ferril's (aint he Scottish too?) blonde beach boys look for Alexander the Great was crappy too.

True, but we all know why MV left, and we all know BS wont have the same problems.

YEP, more confirmation of an SR sequel in the works.

Colin Farrell is Irish. Why aren't Greeks cast in these films (or Italians to play ancient Romans for that matter)? Well, is there a big casting pool of talented Greek actors who speak fluent English? Probably not. But there certainly is a big pool of talented English, Scottish, Welsh and Irish actors to cast from, and since international audiences are already accustomed to seeing actors of these nationalities play characters from ancient Rome and Greece, casting them is both easier and more saleable.
