Box Office Predictions: Star Trek XI

I think our next good film will be Terminator Salvation. Cause A the title Terminator and B its got CHristian Bale Batman himself.

Well, Angels & Demons looked like a good laugh fest. Just like Knowing was.
I wouldn't call them laugh fests as much as I would call them "boring as watching paint dry".

I agree with you on A, but as for B, I think Christian Bale is a huge ass, who needs to get the crap beat out of him.

Yeah he's a fabulous actor, but he's a world class jerk as well. The meltdown caught on tape wasn't his first episode either. I remember when the dude was arrested for domestic violence after TDK came out.

The guy needs a serious anger management therapy session.

Despite all that I'm looking forward to Terminator.

Last time I checked, the violence was verbal, and supposedly his mom and sis were dissing his wife and it set him off.

Oh and we all have meltdowns like that (or at least most of us do), and he has shown regret for it. Let's move on from it.

Yeah and i'm sure he's the only guy to ever lose his cool. :whatever:

I'm not going to defend Bale's tantrum, even he didn't, but it's not like he beat up his girlfriend like a certain Singer.

Not too well, I see :oldrazz:
Maybe the reviews will be better than the first flicks? Thats not saying much but...

Here's how I see the weekend playing out now.

1. A&D: 46.5mil
2. StarTrek: 42.1-44% Total:145.9mil
3.Wolverine: 11.9mil-55%

Still not my final numbers though.

I've got two arguments against those. Point A: "Terminator 3" (though not terrible, looks like crap compared to the first two) and Point B: "Shaft" (not everything Christian Bale has been in has been good). But I do think that "Terminator Salvation" will be good. At least, I'm certain it will be better than T3.

I think it might end up with somewhat better reviews, but I don't see this as a big hit movie. Da Vinci Code had controversy on it's side, so despite the horrible reviews people went out to see it in droves. What does this one have? Whispering "Da Vinci" in the trailer won't be enough to replicate the first film's numbers :woot: especially in light of superior entertainment like Trek.

A $45 million opening weekend sounds about right. $140 million total.

Your multiplier is too high, the first flick had about a 2.8 and yours is over a 3.0. I think at best it has the same multiplier but I'm thinking 2.5 to 2.7.

I think it will have a 2.0 multiplier at best.

And Star Trek is going to lawnmower over it.

FYI, BOM is reporting $6.5 million for Tuesday on Star Trek. So it crosses $100 million US on Thursday.

This will make Star Trek the fastest Trek movie to cross $100 million AND it will also be only the second Trek movie to do so.

It's an adult thiller I think it will do better than Wolverine in the legs department, no matter how s**tty it is.

I saw that on Showbizdata but I was waiting for Mojo to confirm. Good for Trek.

Wow, Star Trek is already up to $93 million. These are really solid weekday numbers.

I know it's still pretty early right now but I'm betting that this movie has better legs than Gisele Bundchen.

Thank God for that. And the word of the mouth is really spreading it seems!

:facepalmDo some ****ing research dude.

Star Trek should have good legs. A lot of people were I'm at were hesitant about the film because...well it was Star Trek, some people find the franchise boring if not dead, too sci-fi, reboot, etc, etc. But now it seems more people are going to see it.

Kind of like TDK some people were like "Batman? Pfft!" but then were like "OMGZ!"

I don't have high hopes for Terminator, I may like it but no Arnold and 3 kinda ruined it. Maybe the new setting will help...not sure how many people Bale himself will draw in, everybody knows him as Batman but I don't know of many people who would see a movie just for him like they would for lets say Will Smith.

I thought you were referring to Brian Singer and I thought WTF? :funny:

And yay for ST having great legs! This film earned it! :applaud

DOes anybody think Star Trek could have a chance being #1 this weekend?
