yeah why do you think sony put out a sm3 teaser almost a year before it's release? they know howto hype up the fans. hence why i said hype. lolPowersOfMind said:I mean come on if I go to the movies and I see a teaser that gets me hyped im going to be telling my friends about it and they are probably going to go online( cuz let face it a studio pushs it out the door and poof it on the internet) to see it. The hype spreads!
now thats what you call some serious hype.Erzengel said:I remember with Lord of the Rings they were hyping the sequels in Trailers even before the first one was released.
WorthyStevens4 said:The problem I see with Shrek 3 was that even though Shrek 2 made a gigantic box office, the DVD sales were a big disappointment.* Which doesn't speak too well for Shrek 3's potential audience. Not a definite guarantee that Shrek 3 will flop though.

PowersOfMind said:Are you serious? Hype right now mean a whole lot. Hype a whole year before a film is released helps you to lock in more audience.
You get some hyped for a movie and they'll follow news about it up until release date.
That's because recent animation movies simply haven't been as good..Cinemaman said:Shrek 3 is out of the question, because it will not make even $300m. If you look at the last 2 years, you will find that animation movies makes at nowadays lower numbers than we think.

Shrek has the capacity to bring in huge numbers.

primemover said:Hype right now is superflous, especially when you are talking about huge films like Spidey and Shrek because they have an established presence in peoples minds. The only important hype for Shrek is the last few months leading up to release, to remind people a new movie is coming and to get people warmed up. You guys judging hype a year before release is ridiculous I gaurantee it.
I know. but i'm just keeping my shut now on the issue.PowersOfMind said:Im not dissing you but what is it with you and Shrek?
primemover said:There is already a thread for this, and the conclusion was that Shrek 3 was going to win the battle of the box office.
FaT_tONle said:Then you must not have read that other thread... the obvious says POTC wins but I am not counting out Spiderman.... I can't see SM3 being a 400 million dollar flick though... 150 opening weekend wouldn't suprise me though...
