Comics Boycotting Spider-Man

If they're enjoying it, then it's obviously money well spent for them. If you buy a comic book that you enjoy, then it's never a waste of money.

Some people collect just cause they collect (something I cannot even begin to fathom). I guess it's not a waste of money to them but every purchase they make on ASM means I have to wait a little while longer to read my favorite comic.

BTW, just re-read the NWTD arc...a second time...thinking i missed something....and i am STILL not getting into this reboot at all.

I love JRJR...but his art even during this run...wasn't magical....to put it nicely. It all feels....odd. Just my humble opinion. Haven't shared it on here recently. Not tons to say about it, this reboot stinks like moldy bologna and i hate missing my favorite hero, but i can't force myself to like THIS alternate spidey guy they're serving. No matter how hard i try,...It Tastes bad.

I mean, my friend should try harder, if he is forking over all this dough. Sheesh.

I understand that Spider-Man is just a comic. But to me, its a lot more.
Spider-Man's attitude about responsibility and being there for the people that need you got me through a real tragity that happened here for me at home. Spider-Man will always mean more to me than just a comic character.

Quesada may be a huge fan, but he can't really know who Spidey is if he thinks he would make a deal with Mephisto like that.

I agree with Mayday insofar that, to me, ASM was also more than just a comic to me. And, as I said in another thread, I stopped reading ASM for awhile because I thought the marriage was a betrayal of all that Pete stood for. Yup, I quit reading after the big marriage. I thought it was a betrayal of the character and all the Pete stood for, plus it negated a lot of the inherent tension in the stories. And it was the stupid daily comic strip that drove ASM, which was phenomenally lame. I guess that's because Stan wrote the dailies, not the comic. So, while the Mephisto deal was a horrible mistake, the marriage needed to go. Pity it wasn't MJ that had the slate wiped clean though. It should not have been Pete. The marriage will not be back (except in elseworld type tales) but I hope they fix the whole Mephisto thing somehow.

Four: Incredible Herc, Guardians of the Galaxy, Captian America, Iron Fist, AtI, Thor....all good reasons to not boycott Marvel. Some of the new directions are pretty damn good.

I don't buy any spidey books at all and I won't till they say OMD didn't happen. Spidey had it's problems before that (basically every time JQ stuck his nose in ie: gwenn having babies with norman ) but that bastardization was to much for me to stomach.

Just want to say that I've managed to stay clean since One More Day. There were a few times I'd read a solicit and feel tempted to go try an issue but I'm proud to say I haven't even read a preview.

read the NWTD arc at my work(work at a book store so didnt buy. As soon as Norman and Venom didnt know who Peter was the entire arc went stale. Sadly it would be a good arc to have the thunderbolts come after Peter if Norman knew that is. Even when he finds a camera webbed taking pics of Spider-man Norman still doesnt figure it out. And they dont even give a reason for Norman forgetting. And Venom not knowing who Peter is kinda destorys the whole purpose and motive of the character. And Norman and Harry have the same relationship they did back in the 60s and 70s. Oy this has destoryed the Goblin legacy and spider-man.

And after so many other arcs that we were told would be explained, for which Marvel didn't come through, you're still biting at that worm? And this one is about the biggest stretch they've come up with, making some world-altering force that causes EVERYONE to not suspect Peter's ID.

Again, one of the biggest dramatic points of making Spidey who he is is the danger of his identity being revealed. Removing that is destroying much of what the character and his motivation is about.

It is just funny sometimes that people will keep waiting, because they're told to. How long exactly would one wait for things to be explained or to make sense at all?

After three years if things don't add up or seem in character still.....will supporters (if this hasn't been reversed by then) still cheerlead for the bold new changes that make everything old again?

And will evil truly win out here?? So far, this is an entire story about the hero being a totall selfish loser and evil won. But that was the point to get the reboot established. So, it is a fundamentally flawed story at its foundation. When the foundation is bad, the house will not stand forever.

You can't stack Jenga blocks ontop of jello forever. Marvel has a major wobble built into their flagship guy, who is SUPPOSE to be all about responsibility. Heh.

I would consider myself a die-hard Spider-Man fan. I know the history of the character, as well as all of the story arcs and basically everything else about the character. The only thing I don't know about Spidey is why these new stories are considered so bad. I like them, I get excited every time I hold a new issue in my hands, sure they're not the comic gold of the Stan Lee John Romita days, but they're also not the clusterf%^k that was the Clone Saga. The art is superb, especially Phil Jimenez, Mike McKone, and Marcos Martin and the stories are building towards something great. I really think the "brain trust" will take care of Spidey in the long run. So for now, courage.

Picked up #600 (the first since I joined this boycott) and I must say it was awful. I feel lost and the quality seemed like crap for a "jump on" issue. Peter and JJJ are now related? GROAN. JJJ mayor? Double GROAN.

I can't believe that I'm still not reading Spider-Man. First time in my life I can ever say that. The boycott continues....
