Breaking Bad - Part 2

Originally AMC wanted the WHOLE season to just be 6-8 episodes, so I'm just grateful we're getting 16 and I'll take them any way I can get them.
because of bad ratings?

Because AMC is bat****.

I hate AMC. I wonder what their next breakout show is going to be when Breaking Bad is gone.

They've got some kind of show about Area 51 in the pipeline.

I'm really worried about AMC. A couple of years ago they were poised to be one of the big boys, but every one of their shows since Mad Men and Breaking Bad has been a dud. I mean, The Walking Dead gets the ratings, but I don't think it's a particularly good show. Breaking Bad and Mad Men are the two best shows on television right now, and have been for a while. If AMC can't cultivate other shows on that level to replace them, then they'll go back to being some obscure channel that just shows old movies 24/7.

Agree about Walking Dead and your assessment of AMC in general.

Yeah, I read something about that a few weeks ago. Sounds good to me. Apparently it's going to be set in the '50s-'60s, which would be really cool. I can't wait to hear more about it soon.

As a sidenote, do you think it might be a bit implausible that all 5 seasons have occured within the span of a year? From getting diagnosed to all of the meth business, to being recruited by Gus till the end of that, to being in remission to today? I could see that within 2 years but a year doesn't feel that slow
The only one I can think of is Walt's brand new cars, they are new right now so they shouldn't be around in the timeline.

um AMC has Walking Dead and Hell on Wheels.
They are fine

Skylar desperation was made pretty damn clear in this ep. Damn. Faking a suicide attempt to get the kids out of the house for the time being.

Skylar's admission about waiting for the cancer to return to finish Walt off was jarring, pathetic, and awesome all at once. That entire bedroom scene was fantastically done.

I think AMC's shaky record shows how hard it is to find and develope quality shows. Every cable channel struggles, AMC was the rare case of having their first mini-series become a hit (Broken Trail) and then having Mad Men and Breaking Bad debut after that to critical acclaim.

They weren't big hits and they still aren't but they branded the network and now compete for other shows. The people who established AMC's original programming are no longer there as well, they cashed in for better jobs.

Also Vince Gilligan wrote for The X-Files and Matt Weiner wrote for The Sopranos. They had talented writers who couldn't get their shows on any channel.

Vena Sud wrote for Cold Case and adapted a Danish series and still did a poor job. Rubicon was too slow but they also lost the original creator because he was an ******* to work with. Hell on Wheels has potential but will probably never live up to it. It will have a healthy run though.

Their newest shows in development sound great but they still need top talent to execute it.

Their reality shows will be quickly be forgotten but Talking Dead and Comic Book Men will likey last the entire run of Walking Dead. There is one about Homeland Security that has yet to debut.

I don't get why they don't show encore episodes like they do with the walking dead. I've only seen the first episode

?? they have shown the whole series on tv leading up to Breaking Bad season 5, they did the same last year

no i'm talking about the current episodes this season. With the walking dead they always show the encore episode on Fridays. I'm always busy on the weekend rarely watch TV.

I bought the TV pass from Amazon back when the season started. $1.89 an episode. :yay:

Cable free life is the good life.

They air 3 episodes on Sunday and a few times throughout the week late at night. The Walking Dead gets higher ratings so its re-aired at a better time. They'll probably do a marathon for the season finale so you may have to watch then.

Well they'll certainly re-air them before pt 2 of this season. Hell maybe well get a DVD release of this seasons pt1 like syfy did for BSG season 4.

Does that include next year's episodes too?

I don't think so, I'm pretty sure the passes are season by season. But I'll just buy it again next year. :word: I bought all of Season 4 from the Playstation Network as they aired last year... buying them from Amazon this time seems like a much better idea. Amazon Instant wasn't so readily available before.

So.

Am I the only one that's wondering about that watch that Jesse got Walt? The camera focus on it was just a tad too long, methinks. I know that the receipt was in there, but someone that knows Walt might likely know that he won't have any desire to swap it out. Hell, Mike might have "picked it up" for Jesse, for all we know. Mike's a great reader of character.

Jus'sayin...

Hmmmmm, interesting. I never even thought of that. Maybe Jesse and Mike bugged it?

This is my thought.

Although personally, I don't think Jesse is capable of it. If my theory is true, Mike likely "picked it up" for Jesse and Jesse passed it on without realizing what he was doing.

Walt's birthdays.
