In the next film, I'd like to see them bring in more people from the comics... most notably Detective Harvey Bullock.... and I finally figured out who would be perfect for the role....

Vince Vaughn

Bullock, yes. Vaughn...the hell?

Bullock and Montoya should replace Wuertz and Ramirez - or would that just confuse the audience?

Dear heavens, you're right. Another female latina and fat caucasian male might be a bit much to suspend our disbelief. :o

^^haha, well Wuertz HAS to be replaced considering Two-Face put a bullet in his skull...ramirez, meh, She'll probably be briefly mentioned or replaced since she cooperated with maroni...they're expendable characters

I agree that Batman 3 could be a good opportunity to bring in GOOD COPS. Gordon, because of Dent, knows GCPD is corrupt and its officers are all suspect to corruption. Now that he's Commissioner I could see him bringing in Bullock and Montoya as the two "trusted cops".... Bullock has a great dynamic with Batman as well as being a cool character...

Leslie Thompkins would be a great and welcome addition. She's never been in a Batman movie, yet has a huge history in the comics and animated series. She can be a love-interest for Alfred and Bruce's surrogate mother figure and she has a lot of history with the Wayne family.

I actually agree with you Greg. Lesley should be brought in because i felt like without her Nolan would have let me down.... :)

Surely Detective Stephens, the burly cop who tries to beat up The Joker was Bullock's counterpart in TDK, not Wuertz. After all, in the current Batman universe Bullock is a gruff but essentially honest cop much like Stephens.

With reference to the thread, I'm not too sure about Vince Vaughn as Bullock. He seems a little too light-weight to me (both as an actor and literally, with regards to his size). I could see his mate, Jon Favreau in the role (although he's more of a Marvel man these days - still he did have a cameo in Batman Forever).

Personally, I see one of the Baldwin brothers as Bullock; Daniel Baldwin in particular. He may be pretty washed-up these days but he's got the voice, build and presence for the role and he played a similar part in Homicide: Life on the Streets. Plus, he'd probably be relatively cheap and Nolan likes to cast character actors in supporting roles over movie stars.

Bullock and Montoya. I'd love to see those two on the Police force. Leslie Thompkins would be great, but they kind of missed her calling by not using her in Bruce's origin in Begins.

I don't see why. Neither Stephens nor Wuertz were anything like Bullock. If that was Nolan's intention, then he failed immensely.

You're right. I only meant that Stephens was more Bullock-like than Wuertz. I'd love to see the actual Bullock portrayed though, along with Montoya and Sarah Essen.

Vince Vaugn? What the fudge? How 'bout Owen Wilson?!

Sigourney Weaver for Leslie Thompkins.

I never said anything about vaughn...but seriously, the baldwins?? any one of the baldwins... and since when have christian bale, morgan freeman, michael caine etc NOT been movie stars? Yes, granted, they don't necessarily draw a lot of attention to themselves as i like to call "high-profile" actors (which is why i dont want a depp riddler), but i mean no baldwins. No.

Whoah! No need to act so confrotational.

I realise that you didn't make any reference to Vaughn. I never said that you did. I was responding to the OP in my last couple of paragraphs.

My reference to character actors was made with regard to the films' supporting roles. Is Christian Bale playing a 'supporting role' now? Besides, I would argue that most ordinary cinema-goers (not fan boys or movie buffs) had much idea who Christian Bale was prior to the Batman films. Sure, he made some very good films before Batman Begins, including American Psycho, Metroland and Empire of the Sun but none of them set the box office alight.

Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine are superb actors but even when they're the leads in their movies, neither of them can be described as the box office stars they once were. Vince Vaughn on the otherhand, regardless of what you think of his films, still opens movies. The inexplicable success of 'Four Christmases' is testement to that,

Fine, you don't like my choice. That's cool. Although I'd argue that Alec Baldwin for instance, and even on occasion his brothers, are not bad actors.

Finally, Christian Bale doesn't "necessarily draw a lot of attention" to himself?!? Do you even follow the news? :whatever: Even Caine and Freeman have been in the news lately in non-movie related stories.

^Hey, i didnt mean to be confrontational my bad if it sounded like that i was kinda in a hurry while reading and such. And yes i follow the news that is newsworthy...i dont really give too much of a **** about Bale throwing a ****-fit on a movie set. But you're right he has brought some negative publicity upon himself, but oh well. Again, i didnt intend for anything to be rude and whatnot so sorry.

Oh, and JohnnyGobbs, You're right that Alec Baldwin is a great actor and his siblings have at times been okay, but for the most part the only baldwin i can stomach is alec.

I want to see both Bullock and Officer Pettit. I know Pettit only really appears in No Mans Land but I always liked the idea of a survivalist, totally paranoid cop on the force.
If he wasn't such a wreck, I'd suggest Tom Sizemore as Bullock.

No problem brinomite. I kinda over-reacted anyway but at least you took it well.

I think you're probably right not to follow the stupid tabloid news, although it was pretty hard to ignore Bale's ****-fit, not to mention the story about him attacking his mum and sister. I like Bale and the first story in which he verbally abused the cameraman was kinda funny (although I hasten to add, completely unacceptable), but he really needs some anger management.

Anyway, great suggestion from ronny regarding Tom Sizemore, although he's even more screwed up than Bale and the Baldwin brothers put together from what I hear.

I'd like to see Sara Essen brought to GPD aid Gordon in his "investigation". I wouldn't want to see any adultery, but I think the idea of Batman and Gordon both being "distracted" by forbidden women (Catwoman and Essen) could make for some interesting dynamics.

As far as who would play Essen, I'm not sure. I would like Jodie Foster or Cate Blanchette just fine.

:wow: WHOO!!! Whats next, Daniel Day-Lewis for police officer #2.

If he was still alive, I would say I want John Candy to play Bullock. I know Candy played more comedic roles, but I could see him pulling of a beautiful drama......if he was still alive.:csad:

I know you're just trying really hard to be clever, but...

Gary Oldman plays Commissioner Gordon. Liam Neeson played Ra's Al Ghul, and probably had around 15 minutes screentime. Ken Watanabe probably had a little more than 5 minutes on the screen. I don't see why a talented leading actress wouldn't consider a supporting role in the next film.

Actually, Cate Blanchette did the same type of thing in LOTR, so its really not much of a stretch. If the actress really wants to be involved in the next Nolan bat-flick, she'll take the gig.

Cate Blanchett wasn't even credited for her role in 'Hot Fuzz'. :yay: So, like you say it's not really a stretch to imagine she'd be happy to do a supporting role for someone like Nolan.

Still, I'd like to see a lesser-known actress play Sarah Essen like Annie Wersching who plays a similar role on '24', and kind of looks like the character from the comics.

I'd also be happy to see the film-makers pursue the whole affair sub-plot. I don't think it would have to detract from the main story but it would allow Oldman, who for me has given the best performance in Nolan's Bat-films so far (that includes the brilliant Bale, Ledger and Eckhart) more to do. So far Commissioner Gordon has rightly been portrayed as the one decent man in Gotham (ok, with Alfred and Fox make that one of three) so it would be interesting to demonstrate that he has some flaws. It would also work itself well for any future story in which his wife is killed, or the film-makers decide to add a Barbara Gordon 'Batgirl' to the story.
