Now imagine if all the rest of the CBMs this year are mediocre...

Least we got deadpool... :o

Now they need to make a movie directly addressing the problems people had with BvS.

And on and on it goes....

HA! This is the amazing thing - when they pitched us on this movie, I couldn't believe how reactionary it was. I mean, it was a retcon. Plain and simple.

Supes went from being the only superhero in this world, to supposedly being the first superhero that encourages others to come out of the shadows, to now being one of several superheroes who have been around for years. But fans loved this take and just went along with it.

But I've always hated retcons. I still remember bristling in the theater during Spider-Man 3 when Raimi tried to tell us that it was really Sandman who killed Uncle Ben and not that crook.

Everyone wants there shared universes now. Hell even universal tried with the classic monsters in dracula untold.
Its no secret marvel struck gold with there universe and yes they had a few duds in there but overall pretty clean world building wise.

If done correctly, it's a cool concept. If rushed, it leads to bloated films who spend more time winking at what is coming up than what we're paying to watch at the moment.

So in 2014 we had ASM2.

In 2015 we had Fant4stic.

And this year we have BvS? :o

Singer's X-men movies always look like crap. But they usually come out to surprising critical acclaim.

Singer is like the opposite of Snyder.

But how are we taking that enjoyment away from you? The facts are that the film is opening wide this weekend and it has gotten, to put it mildly, reviews that aren't great.

It's also a fact that you enjoyed it.

If the critical consensus bothers most of us here, how does that affect you? You could be rubbing in our faces that you were pleased. You're the lucky one.

No one on this board wanted this movie to fail. We all wanted a great BvS film. For a lot of us though, this is a repeat of 3 years ago.

I'm just tired of that disappointment. I feel these characters deserve better than to have to keep running on that hamster wheel of hope that the next film will get them right.

But if this film got them right for you, then I'm happy for you. I mean that sincerely - I have no desire to take away someone else's enjoyment of the film.
This x10. I seen the movie and it's garbage. We all wanted better for these characters. They deserve and already have been to much better places.

The venom and vitriol is being thrown for good reason. It's in defense of characters we love over riding talentless hack directors.

If anything that makes the ones acknowledging that less excuse makers and more a better class of fan. They demand more. Why should Batman v Superman be as terrible as a Transformer film? After genre defining heights such as Superman TM, B89, Begins, TDK (the pinnacle) and hell as a conclusion even Rises. BvS and Snyder are dead. Bury it.

Maybe a cinematic universe just isn't in the cards for DC, just because marvel pulled it off, doesn't mean just anyone can.

The problem is they wanted to go from 0-100 in three steps....
They should have built the characters first, like Marvel did and then talk Justice League. At this rate they would have just been better off making a justice league movie to start off everything...

Meh. I think this was the current hiccup. Deadpool was a blast. Civil War looks to carry on the tradition of CA:TWS on a much wider scope. SS looks like it could be non-traditional fun.

IMO only X:AOA looks to be a bit risky.

Suicide Squad could definitely be a lot of fun and decent but it could also be really really bad. It does have Will Smith and Jai Courtney in it after all. CW and X-men both have huge casts. Maybe they will nail it again like they have in the past and be able to juggle everyone. But there's still a possibility that they don't and it feels like a jumbled mess.

That wasn't a dig at you man, seriously. I totally understand where your coming from. This post got me in the feels, you have every right to voice your opinion.

As do you sir. I'm glad you liked it. I'm sure we'll all end up liking at least parts of it. It looks so crazy nerdy and off-the-wall.

Singer X-Men movie- safe, DOFP was really good
The two Marvel studio movies- at worst mediocre
Suicide Squad- even with his misses I believe in David Ayer much more than Snyder

And then be accused of being copy cats. Damned if you do....

I wish the critics would back off now, come on guys it's dead, stop stomping the corpse

Both Marvel and DC had shared universes in their comic books.

Marvel was the first and so far the only successful ones adapting a shared comics universe for superhero films, that doesn't mean that DC can't do that aswell.

In my opinion both DC and Marvel should be the only ones doing shared universes, given their vast array of comic book characters and storylines.

If Jai Courtney is front and center throughout most of the film - then yes it will be bad. LOL

My personal opinion is that the X-Men are getting a bit played out. If Apoc comes off as corny (as initially feared) then it will take the movie down. Not to mention there seems to be quite a bit of destroporn based on the recent trailer.

One stinker shouldn't prevent DC from creating a cinematic universe, let's not forget how many stinkers Marvel themselves had before Feige stepped in.

DC just needs a Feige.

I don't even bother watching the trailers for X-Men movies now. It's just not worth the stress. They always look corny and terrible and then the movies are amazing.

They're not going to do the IMDb trick of giving it a ten because it only has a "3" and deserves a "4". If they think it's bad they're going to say it...we need this. No point pretending there's no problem. Nothing will be fixed if we do.

I've never seen any movie from Scott Derickson that I particularly really liked, but I've seen the headline 'This movie could be Marvel's first flop' to many times.

35% pushing 150 reviews...

Wow now you have to pray the OW and international returns can salvage this.

Just imagine what type of film we would of got if this was released in 2015. That's what really makes me mad, they had a year to flesh it out more and still its got big flaws. What the hell does this even mean for the extended cut that there planning to release. I really can't wait to see this tomorrow night. Happy Easter people, oh and as for that RT rating (oh bloody dear) but thats what the reality is at the moment. I will decide for me myself and i.

Snyder needs to go because he's just a distraction at this point, no matter how you feel about him.

God bless him but he just can't get it done.
