BvS BvS Rottentomatoes score - how important will it be, and what do you hope for? - Part 6

Yes, there are critics who legit don't like the film, but there's also a lot of that in there.

Some people just don't want to admit BvS is probably just a bad movie. Critics praise good movies and plenty of recent superhero flicks have been universally liked by them.

There are exceptions though.... critics & audience can feel different about a movie.

Reminds me of a wedding speech on Mitchell and Webb. "Two people, who are a little bit deluded in each-others favour. That's what love is, Isn't it?"

Haha that's brilliant. I think it's less this movie is bad because It's dark and more why isn't Superman more like Batman when he should be more like Superman? Also the storytelling is sounding like the weakest link.

What I would give to have one movie where Joss Whedon is the writer, Zack Snyder director and Kevin Feige, James Cameron and Guillermo Del Toro as executive producers/advisors.

Fan boys are still in the denial stage. give it a couple months then this will get destroyed by nearly everyone phantom menace style.

I can see this happening.
Batman and Robin (1998) all over again.

Well shoot sounds like I should just wait for the R rated cut since that will supposedly be a better movie anyways.

Critics only giving this film bad reviews because they're tired of comic book movies?

Um. Yeah ... Deadpool and Ant-Man say hello. Even Age of Ultron got overall good reviews.

Yeah, if its R-Rated then Batman really won't have to hold himself back.

So Jimmy Kimmel said it was great. Kevin Smith, a big comic book fan loved it, and Michael Strahan also said it was great. And 80 percent of audience in RT loved it. Most fans who saw it here loved it.

But yet we listen to what 95 critics in RT say??

Who are these great people that their opinions matter over the rest??

It's made for fans and most fans who saw it so far loved it. So I'll lean towards them.

audience score just dropped to 79%

Wasn't it 10% above that just 24 hours ago or something?

And some people was grasping onto that audience rating ... It was WAY too early to fall back on those numbers.

I don't care what most of these critics say. I rarely agree anyway. I'm a fanboy and this movie was made for me. So I'm seeing it tonight and I'm very excited.

I had initially vowed to avoid all reviews and even the RT score leading up to when I see the movie tomorrow night, but I accidentally saw the score at the corner of my eye and figured there was no going back. As someone who created an account just for this movie and as someone who has devoted much of the past year following the production and hype on BvS, I must say this is very disheartening. I'm still going into the film with an open mind, though I'm keeping my expectations in check, but it seems the DCEU is pretty much doomed before it's even started. Even if SS and WW are better received as individual films, they'll forever be attached to this critical dud. I was just thinking about how awkward that Conan show is going to be on the 31st with the whole cast.
Well, I'm seeing it tomorrow night, so I'll report to you guys what I thought in time, but whether I like it or not it's not going to change the overall reception this film's gotten. Sorry for the long-winded post, but as someone who greatly bought into the hype over the past year, I felt like I needed to say that.

Nah it was hovering around 82% since the beginning.

Admit what? how? Admitting to such a thing WOULD be saying BvS is a bad film like it's a fact. There's nothing to admit, plenty of fans like, or love the film, I'm seeing it on Reddit, I'm seeing it here, I love the film, I don't need to admit to anything.

Being universally liked doesn't mean jacksh**, even a universally liked film will be disliked by many people. Some films just get a better critical consensus than others, but in the end, it's just that, an opinion from a person that's not you. There are people that are barometers as they have similar tastes to yours and your opinions usually align, but it's still opinion.

Critics "praise" good movies? You mean like Thor TDW has 66 % or Ant-Man (which is solid imo) 80 %. There are some incredibly good films that have shockingly low RT scores, it doesn't mean anything.

Of course, there will always be fans of bad movies. Movies like Paul Blart, Ghost Rider, etc. prove this. I love Beverly Hills Ninja and it was considered the worst movie of the year of its release. But whatever makes you feel better I guess. And yes, opinions are like *******s. I can see the butt hurt is already going full force for this movie....

Doesn't Kimmel interview people who work on movies, though? :cwink: And as much as I adore Michael Strahan (hardcore Giants fan, here; I have his jersey), his current profession involves interviewing and press tours as well.

As for Kevin Smith, well ... It's Kevin Smith. Didn't he kind of make an ass of himself a handful of months ago by interviewing Josh Trank multiples times on one of his podcasts and hyping up Fant-Four-Stick as if it was going to be this great thing? Plus, you know ... Ben Affleck is his buddy.

I listen to the reports of children crying and having to be consoled with Baskin Robbins. Baskin Robbins always finds out lol.

Unless Snyder is the most stubborn person in the world, which he might just be, I can see the critical reception of this film affect the morale of the cast and crew for Justice League. Snyder seems to live in a bubble where everyone in his circle refers to him as a genius so a reception like this will either knock him back to reality or completely divide everyone around him.

kimmel is a talk show host. His job is to get actors to come on who are promoting big projects and play nice with them. Kevin Smith is a personal friend of affleck. neither is in a position to be honest in public.

Lol, plenty of fans haven't seen it and gave it a high score on IMDB and RT, just like plenty of trolls who gave it a low score. It's useless for now. WOM at the actual box office will tell us. It's off to big starts in Spain, France, Italy, etc.

Lol the assumptions. Has it entered your mind they might legit be proud of the film and critics just don't agree?

As long as it makes at least 140 mil OW Snyder and co. will be ok. As far as total domestic, BvS will have to at the very least top MoS i.e. 291 million dollars.

I feel for ya man, but after MOS and the fact that Snyder was helming again, well, that's why I did not buy into the hype.

To gross over a billion the movie must have more than good OW; it needs to have good legs with minimal drop off as well.

Either that or you'll get the "the DVD sales clearly show that audiences liked it more than you think, it's really gained in popularity over the years."
