Was the wire work in X1 bad? Yes, but that scene where she goes full throttle on Toad is one of the best in the movie she looked amazing and actually had a confidence when she walked. The part where she's walking outside and lifts her arms as the wind obliterates the glass doors is classic Storm.
I totally agree she was confident in her abilities and she looked so bad ass.
Truism. She could have exited the jet and destroyed the misses with lightning and flown while doing it.

I would have loved if they did that, it was so much that they could have done but just didnt do with that scene.

Agreed I think that scene was the only time they really got her powers right. And due to lack of budget I think Singer did a fine job.
Quoted for truth.
I disagree.

I'm starting to wonder who do they think Halle is in real life?

Lol

Her characters are never the same.

Well ok then since I dont know her in real life it seems every character she is is the same no real diversity, her walk is always the same the inflection in her voice is always the same its not much different. Though I have no hard feelings towards Halle and I think with DOFP that she will impress me.

I agree her line delivery was bad but when she got to the windows and just shattered them it was amazing I dont understand how you dont like it. It just showed off her power.

I thought her fight scene with Toad was fine especially when she picked herself up from that elevator and she started showing her mutant powers. It didn't look dated for a film that was released in 2000.

Have you watched Frankie & Alice? She is really good in it, she plays a woman with multiple personality disorder. She is really good. Definitely not playing herself.

I have not seen that movie, thank you for mentioning it ill have to check it out. The only movie tolerable for me was Introducing Dorothy Dandridge.

No worries.

You've only liked Dorothy Dandridge? She was amazing in that film and I applaud her for all her efforts behind the camera as well. Giving up some of her own money to pay for a scene. But I've liked a lot her performances. Some of my all time fave are: Losing Isaiah, Their Eyes Were Watching God, Frankie & Alice, Cloud Atlas, Things we Lost in the Fire, and Queen. I also liked Monster's Ball and her role in Jungle fever.

Yes Halle has been in a few bad movies where her performances were far from great but I find many people criticize her without having seen her other performances most of them were in non-mainstream independent movies. Unlikely to have been seen by large audiences.

I've always wanted Halle to go back to her independent roots the last time she did it was in Things we lost in the fire and she was good in it. She needs to make some great movies, independent movies haven't been scoffed at in years it's why we have the Sundance festival.

Halle brought me to tears in Queen. Truly one of her most incredibly believable performances.

Funny enough, I was watching the animated DAYS OF FUTURE PAST episodes from the 90s.

Storm's eyes don't white out when she flies. Only when she's making storms.

They don't always white out in the comics either when she flies so I really don't get what the big fuss is about.

Halle in Losing Isaiah was excellent! She is an amazing dramatic actress and I cant wait to see her in 'Extant' this summer.

Edit: Motherhood is looking good on Halle her face is looking so much more fuller and youthful than before her pregnancy.

if only she would look like this as Storm on the franchise, showing more skin and a more free spirit vibe

Well, it was never up to her.

On the other hand, Singer's vision is BLAND! I think after liking his vision, then seeing what could have been, I now have a love/hate vibe towards him. DOFP we are on the love side for the moment, hahaha.

What's "what could have been?" Blue and yellow shapeless flight suits? That allowed for even less skin.

How dare you!! I said nothing about spandex! :)

There are always casting decisions, uniform issues, and other things that could have been better.

But given the time that X-men was released, its understood that taking the film more serious and making it less comic bookie, was the best thing to do at the time.

People should blame the costume designer for her costume/outfits in the films and not Bryan Singer.

Louise is secretly a lesbian dyke, I SWEAR!!

She makes Halle look more androgynous/borderline boyish with every film.
Soon she'll be looking straight manly.

I mean she could do so much with the womens designs in these films, and they brought her bland ass back to the costume department.

Though I'm not going to lie,i like what she did with their civilian clothes in X2.

Jean Grey's Jacket was hot

I loved her choker here too.
x_men_3.jpg

X1 was the only film she actually looked like Storm and not Halle Berry in a Platinum blonde wig.

X3 had even worse styling. She looked like a gosh darn soccer mom or something.

BTW on my Google search for images I came across this X3 promo shot that has Storm with blue eyes.

I would have loved to see something like this in the films.

Yes, the Bryan Singer has the final say but we all know he's more focus on the story-telling and not the visuals.
Very, very good point. He has always been more concerned with camera agles and making characters appear more bad ass visual by what he does with the camera not necessarily how they look in the actual film (costuming/hair/makeup) unless it is the more high-concept parts of the design e.g. Mystiques reptilian look or Toads green skin.

I watched xmen 1.5 the other night with the extended scenes and those cut Storm scenes helped her character flow more naturally. Without them shes almost as lifeless as Sabretooth. But it was her best performance as Storm, she actually tried in that one.

berry looked like storm the most in X1, she seemed to look less like storm and more like halle berry as films went on

I know. They cut so much good scenes out. The scene between Storm and Rogue is a great scene that should have been left in. Halle's accent sounded better and what they were discussing would have been a great parallel to X3 when they end up discussing the same topic again. It also could have burgeoned a great relationship between Storm and Rogue.

Say what you want to say.

But at the end of the day, the costume designer is more responsible to the costumes. Bryan Singer didn't exactly design the costumes, make sketches and do costume fitting to the cast members? Right? Because that is not his job to do. He probably just approved the *best* costumes that Louise Mingenbach came up with and we know Louise's best is not really the best costumes out there.

Singer doesnt design the costumes but he is the one with all the power. He can give them ideas of what he wants, veto designs, approve designs. Just about everything goes through him. If he wanted he could even get a different costume designer.
