I just hope the Russos don't burn out. They are tackling four big blockbuster movies in the span of five years, three of them big ensemble pieces, two of them back-to-back. They'll be rolling in the dough big time though, which is great for them. Who could imagine two sitcom directors would make some of the best superhero movies of all time and become the backbone of the MCU?
The thing they have going for them is they aren't completely writing and directing both of them, like Whedon put on himself with the Avengers movies. The workload is spread among them and Markus/McFeely.

And even the directing workload is split between them. It's a beneficial set-up for all.

what is the opening weekend projection?

* Ideas to bounce between each other so the creative is always high.

* Strong characters who trust each other's opinion so they can say 'no' the other sibling will listen.

* First and second unit directors built in.

There's four of them, compared to Whedon or Gunn doing all by themselves. I think they'll be fine.

Soooo, i don't see anyone dethroning MCU in the box office anytime soon except maybe Star wars. We are looking to a 10 billion box office haul after this movie right?

Oh jeez.. who cares. just enjoy it being a good time for a comic films and star wars.

"just kidding"

No, i am kidding. If i rub something in the grim/dark brigade is the fact that Marvel is making better movies NOT that they are making more profitable movies :yay:

Lumping all DC fans in the same category is bordering on trolling. We're not all for the grim/dark stuff, in the same way that not all Marvel fans just love light, happy movies.

Let's maintain a bit of perspective here.

I think it helps that there's two of them.

When one of them gets fatigued the other can pull the slack.

On the plus side 2 of them are already done and it is just the Infinity War double header left which they'll have to give everything to. After that they can have a well deserved rest. This workload would probably be too much for a single director/writer team though.

That's why i said "the grim/dark brigade". I didn't say "DC fanbase", that would be unfair. We all know that there is a big portion of DC fans looking down everything that doesn't fit that M.O. It's the kind of people lurking on Batman.News.com and call Avengers "the worst thing that happened in blockbuster cinema". Or the guys in the DCEU FB page. I have no problem with someone prefering one style. When you condemn everything else and isolate one element to support a bs argument because you are insecure, then i have no respect for those kind of people.

It wasn't directed to you or any other rational DC fan. Bu trust me there are many of you who are quite irrational. Of course that applies to MCU fans as well. Those aren't as vocal though.

Anyway back to my original point can someone find me the SW grossings adjusting for inflation? I'm speaking about the OG trilogy.

.

Yep, fair enough

A lot of DC fans just don't want to accept that we're getting the shaft while Marvel are hitting it out of the ballpark.

Can't get the link from my phone but Boxofficemojo has a page for all time adjusted numbers. The complication with Star Wars is the rereleases made a lot of money too and are included.

Preach.

Yeah, I've heard some DC Fanboys hate on it harder than anyone else...then you have the sheep. Those who will love anything because they MATE Marvel's success SO MUCH.

Those are sheep, not fans. I liken them to the ones who swallow whatever Transformer catastrophe Michael Bay churns out talking about how it it "the best TF movie EVER!!!"

That's a low bar to set. I'd prefer "It's better than a rusty nail in your eardrum!!"
