Captain America: Super Soldier

Yeah, I've nearly finished the game.... It's not perfect, it's not even great, but I think a 5 is still way too harsh by IGN standards, especially judging how frequently they hand out high scores... I would say Cap is like 6.5, which I think is what you would score a game that is a good, fun rental but sub par as a purchase (depending on how big a fan you are)

What alternate costumes does it offer?

I couldn't possibly tell you how to unlock them though. I randomly unlocked the Ultimate costume and I've nearly finished the game and yet to get the classic.

Also, I might have ended up accidentally getting all the achievements for this game really easily. Getting all the collectibles is exceptionally easy. I only had to back track once, to one location, to get a zemo diary I missed.

Meh the bottom page has a 9.75 user review because the person was excited for the game lol. :p

Just picked up the game today, its no Arkham Asylum but I will say it is pretty solid. Probably the most solid of the Sega/Marvel titles. Combat is similar to AA not as fluid as I would have liked for it to be. I think IGN was being a bit harsh on the game, some things they pointed out I can agree with like the level design and repeated enemies, but for the most part the game is pretty decent. Honestly, I think it deserved maybe a 6.5 or possibly a 7.

Well gamefly decided not to send it to me today even though it says it shipped out yesterday which usually means I get it the next day. I'm annoyed, I was going to enjoy my day off playing it. Well hopefully it'll be here tomorrow.

I got the game today it's actually really fun. The combat is pretty good and fluid for the most part obviously not as good as AA but I don't think anyway was expecting it to. The platforming is a different take on it and its not bad, not great though. Everything with the shield is really great and I think they nailed that perfectly. The visuals aren't anything to write home about but Cap does look good. Its easily the best Sega/Marvel game, this one is actually playable and fun unlike Thor, and the Iron Mans. I'd say its a 7.5 out of 10 I'd be willing to go as high as 8 but there isn't an achievement for playing it on Hard so whats the point. I actually hope this studio is given a chance to make a sequel and have some time to do it because they have laid some pretty solid ground work for what could be a great sequel.

Hm, im prob gonna check it out from work next week. Which will be good since i wont be able to see the film until next week, ill be fairly jazzed to play the game.

I think you'll enjoy the game bro, just think of it as Arkham Asylum Lite :awesome:. I'm on Chapter 15 right now, once I beat the game I'm gonna run through it again to get all the collectibles. This game will be my only movie-tie in purchase this year lol.

Yeah its definitely a good game. It doesn't feel like a chore to playthrough like other movie tie ins of your favorite characters. Plus its a really easy 1000/platinum if you're into that.

just beat the game, the Arnim Zola boss fights were pretty fun, I lit him up pretty good, lol saved all of my crippling strikes for his ass.

I always forget I have the crippling strikes though they are awesome and cinematic when you do them

I picked it up earlier. Definitely not as bad as IGN said (it's MUCH better than Thor), but it's not a perfect game by any stretch of the imagination. The thing that gets me is Cap's (sometimes) inability to get around the most mundane obstacles. He can leap across gaps, do all kinds of acrobatic moves, but he can't leap over a fence? That and on occasion, the combat needs to be stopped, and reset for Cap to really take out all of the guys on screen.

Still, it's fun to play as Captain America, and Evans does a solid job, voicing the role. It's not phoned in like Hemsworth was in the Thor game. I agree with whoever said that this is SEGA's best Marvel game.

IGN is utter trash.. Cap may not be the best game in the world (I've yet to play it. I'll wait until it's 20) but that website is just... bad. I only read their reviews for pure amusement.

Saw the Giantbomb review...and gotta say, a 3 out of 5 a'int bad at all. It's a respectable score.

I think I'll give it a try when the price drops.

IGN is so weird. They're reviews always seem to be out of whack in some way.

Its definitely worth it when the price goes down or if you wanna rent it.

For a movie-tie in, this game does the trick, apparently someone at Sega had a little bit of sense to at least borrow elements from a game that garnered a bigger success. It may not be the best game, but IMO, its not the worse, I picked this up solely because it was a solo Cap game. If there was a way DataEast could do it, they should throw Captain America and the Avengers on XBLA and PSN.

So after seeing some of the videos and hearing what some of you have said, iv decided im gonna pick this up. With my work discount and some credit iv had, i can get the game for about 20 bux. For those that have played it, does the game spoil anything in the movie? I wont be able to see the movie until next week and dont wanna play the game if its gonna reveal any cool plot points from the film.

Not really, other than basic concepts you probably already know about, like Red Skull having the cube, and Cap working with the howling commandos

looking forward to playing the game once the price drops.... or they get more copies at blockbuster......atm they only have one copy, but they have about 10 copies of games like black ops and duke nukem

I started a free trial of gamefly with hopes of getting this but the availability was low so I got sent two other games instead. Its a shame because I really would like to play this, just not by buying it.
