Well, I wouldn't mind seeing William Moseley as Link, especially since he likely won't be in all the Narnia films (his character departs in the third or fourth book, I believe). As for Princess Zelda, a newcomer would probably work best. Cate Blanchett's performance in "Lord of the Rings" always struck me as being a much older Zelda type, so the film would need a rather fresh-faced actress with serious acting chops, who could play royal, brave, and tender all at once. There seems to be on here a lot of people desiring a well done made Zelda movie, and a few who thinks it'll be a terrible idea. However, if a movie were made, who would you want for the cast? Also, so would you want for a director?
The three big players:
Link-
Zelda-
Ganondorf-
Christopher Walken might be a good Ganondorf, lol. As for that pic of Jason Issacs, he looks like he'd be perfect.
Link, no clue.
Zelda, whoever the hell this cosplayer is:

I joined this site JUST to post that. It seems like she'd be perfect.

Her face is remarkably just like Zelda from the games. That's pretty amazing, I've never seen a girl nail the look so much.
But yes, look for a good actress first and foremost.

As for the fearsome Ganondorf, King of the Gerudo? My mind is honestly blank, except to say whoever did it would have to be considerably older than either Link or Zelda, and have a real penchant for dark, disturbing characters...maybe Christopher Walken.
Someone suggested Chance Crawford for Link a while ago. Thats a great casting choice...

Can you go into more detail about the war with the Zoras?I filled a notebook with a Zelda fan script about ten years ago. I added a subplot about a war with the Zoras some 20 years before that the current King of Hyrule brought to an end. Ganondorf I wrote with Daniel Day-Lewis in mind, and I imagined someone like Dominique Swain or Katherine Heigl as Zelda(this was 1999, mind you). Ganondorf hated Zoras with a passion because his wife, whom he gave up his position as leader of the Gerudos for, was killed in the war. He kills the King and reveals he has collected two of the three medallions(this bit was based on LttP) that will open the Sacred Realm, the third of which is in the king's possession. He opens the sacred realm, and we see him about to take the Triforce. Monsters pour in to the castle, and Zelda and Impa flee. Link, who is in Hyrule castle town to pick up supplies for his uncle(another bit from LttP. though I started this after OoT), hears a telepathic summons.
He finds Zelda and Impa, and takes them to his uncle's farm. But Ganondorf is right behind them, and Uncle is killed while covering his escape.
Link had met Malon before, and so Malon agrees to hide the three of them on Lon Lon Ranch(needless to say, I am imagining realistic scales, not the ranch in the game that you can walk across in thirty seconds.). Zelda eventually reveals to Link that the Triforce split, and they each have one of the three.(Ganondorf being the third)
Meanwhile, Castle Hyrule has crumbled and replaced by a tower straight out of HR Giger's nightmares. I tried to give Ganondorf some depth, and I had him lamenting to one of his henchmen that he wanted a beautiful castle, but this is all he could create with his part of the Triforce. I made him extremely scary and creepy to contrast with the relative innocence of Link and Zelda- I think I pushed him a lot further than Nintendo would allow- he had a crescent burn scar on his face that he received when fighting the Zoras that killed his wife, and I described him as wearing black armor that resembled muscle tissue(it was metal). I planned to reveal that something that he kept in a sarcophagus was his wife's body, which he thought he would bring back to life when he had all of the Triforce. It was not perfectly preserved, and I was going to write a scene where he kissed it.
I really don't like fan fiction that is super dark compared to the source material, so I tried to at least write teh above in a PG-13 way.
Zelda and Impa started training Link- they need to retrieve the Master Sword to kill Ganondorf, and I wrote a scene where Link duelled Zelda in treetops(this was before I ever even heard of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) as part of the training.
Ganondorf was declaring war on the other races, freezing the Zora's Kingdom(and the King Zora died when it was frozen), forcing his twin children, Prince Ruta and Princess Ruto, to flee. I wrote Ruta as kind of a dick, and I planned to have Link duel with him for control of the Zoras.
I did write a scene that I am particularly proud of- during a scene where Ganondorf declares himself as the new ruler of Hyrule to various Barons and Dukes, one stands up and says he will not accept his rule. Ganondorf has two Moblin's bring out the guy's son.
I remember I imagined GD's throne room as a huge chamber with criss-crossing bridges(wide bridges, mind you- the meeting with the nobelmen took place on one of them) going ever higher. At the bottom was a large sculpted map of Hyrule with what seemed like a huge pool of water surrounding it.
So Ganondorf grabs the guy's kid and tosses him fifty feet into the pool. The Baron dives in after him, but it turns out the kid was an illusion, and the water is Morphas, that monster from OoT made of water. The Baron is quickly drowned by water that suddenly becomes too thick to swim through.
And here's where it gets to the point that I stopped writing, though I had an idea what was going to happen: Hyrule has some sort of festival celebrating the spring harvest. Link and Zelda planned to leave on their quest when it was over. There was going to be a moment where Link danced with Malon and Zelda seemed kind of jealous, and then the festival would be raided- Ingo, naturally, had found out about Zelda and Link and turned them in. They're forced to flee.
Naturally, they would have returned to Hyrule Castle to fight Ganondorf. I planned to have him give up his dream of resurrecting his wife, saying she would no longer recognize him as the man she loved(the point being that if he can't have her, he doesn't care about her anymore, whereas a more noble person would just want them to be happy). BTw- of course, he wanted to rule Hyrule like in the games- that was always part of the plan.
I was also going to put in that Link doesn't remember his childhood, adn the man who he called Uncle was simply a farmer who found him wandering outside some woods, after being beaten up. The idea being that the Kokiri had started to become afraid of him when he started to age beyond what is normal, and of course, Mido was the one who did it.
