Supergirl Casting CWverse Superman for Supergirl

It's really dumb how miscast this Jimmy is. He's literally just a different character, and now people feel like Superman has to be cast with Jimmy in mind.

Superman can be smaller than Jimmy, Batman is usually shorter than Superman and wasn't in the DCEU

Bomer and Welling are my choices

Batman is a completely different case to Jimmy Olsen.

Maybe Lois Lane and Perry White can be taller than Superman as well. :o

But who says Superman even has to be taller than Supergirl. He could be shorter too, right?

since Melissa Benoist use to be in Glee how about Matthew Morrison

Hahahahaha.

Honestly, I don't see casting an decent version of Superman for this show to be a easy task. For starters, the actor doesn't have the luxury of being able to wear the mask to help create the persona/image of the character.

Then there's the issue of finding an decent actor that's even interested in portraying the role. For some reason, based on what I've seen/read at least, Superman seems to be one of the few comic characters that you don't see as many actors lined up in being interested in tackling/portraying.

Cool that Superman is showing up on Supergirl. I never thought that would ever happen outside of a few blurry, out of focus shots. Looking forward to see who they cast. You think they'll release an official photo like they did with Supergirl?

I would be amazed if they found someone who was able to play Superman and Clark as two different people (if they even want him to do it).

Who do I have to petition to to ensure Welling gets asked

If Mark Hamill can play a different Trickester to the 90s version and John Wesley Shipp can play Henry Allen and Jay Garrick on Flash then Tom Welling can absolutely play a different version of Superman to Smallville. Hopefully they try to get him.

Not really feeling the Welling love...his aversion to wearing the suit kind of turned me off of him for a full fledged Superman.

Maybe this Superman won't need to wear the suit either. Who says he has to? After all, he can be shorter and smaller-built than Jimmy Olsen as well. :o

Those red boots we saw when he was lying out cold on the table in the season finale were maybe just red wellies because it was raining that day. :o

If Welling gets the part. I can't see people having a hard time confusing this version of Superman from Smallville's version. Most casual viewers wouldn't realize, care or just know he once was Superman on another show. Those who are fans of Superman or Smallville....are smart enough (well most) to realize its a new version of Superman with the same actor. Sometimes we just think way too hard about this stuff.

On a side note...i had no problem casting a black actor for Jimmy...i just would have prefered someone who wasn't over 6ft and more model than nerdy.

I don't think anyone cares whether he's black or not at this point, but just that he is way too tall and built that it makes it difficult to cast Superman now. There must've surely been shorter/ slimmer black actors out there. They didn't need to make him the love interest either. Just allow it to develop naturally if he has the most chemistry with Melissa (which he doesn't) instead of designating him as her romantic partner from the start.

My problem with James has nothing to do with the actor at all, what he looks like etc....they will find a Clark that will be the right guy. My problem is the total lack of character development in the case of James by the writers...

Jared Padelecki would make a good mullet Superman.

I do not see him as Superman AT ALL... haha

True...I thought Kara had much better chemistry with Cat's son and with Barry Allen (Flash).

I think Ethan Peck (grandson of Gregory Peck) could pull it off. Might need to bulk up a little but not much.

The casting of Superman has always been a tough proposition so I don't envy the Supergirl production. Its not easy finding an actor with the stature while at the same time with personality and acting chops.

Imo, George Reeves and Chris Reeve were the only two actors who really had both in abundance while Routh, Welling, Cavill, and Cain were stronger in one area more than the other.

Its easy to find good actors but alot of times they'll lack in the presence or look of Superman, and you can find tons of actors who visually fit the Superman build, but can't act a lick or lack personality.

some interesting points made about finding an actor who both fits the look and can act...

especially about Superman not wearing a mask or anything that could make an average looking actor look more the part... cause other then the costume, Superman has very distinctive features that really define the characters presence

so, let me ask this, how do you think people would feel about the actor wearing facial prosthetics/make up/air brushing, or even the uses of CGI, to enhances his features to look more like the character? (assuming there done right, and look realistic) or would that be cheating?

same about body type, do they need to be jacked? or could they get away with muscle suit?

Why the hell would you do that? Superman is a character that doesn't need that kind of crap.

because it's easier to find a good actor and make him look like Superman
then finding someone who looks like Superman who is a good actor
