Chapter 39 - “Angels and Monsters” – Discussion Thread 10/13/08

Heroes is a show you really have to wait until the end of the season to judge. Just because something isn't explained in one episode doesn't mean that it won't be by the end. Most of the things people are calling plot holes just haven't been explained or revealed yet. I'm sure we'll find out exactly what happened when Hiro stabbed Ando. Either it was staged or he really did stab him, we'll find out why. We'll find out more details about Nikki, Tracy and Barbara as the season goes on. As of right now its obvious they were triplets that the Company experimented on and gave powers too. There's really no reason to get worked up about unresolved plots when they're not even halway into the season.

Great post dude! That's been my thought process on this whole show back since season one began. It's really hard to say things don't make sense until it all plays out, then when you go back you say "Oh the writing was on the wall the entire time" or "hey they finally explained why this and this happened."

That was my main complaint for people who watched LOST with me. They gave up halfway through every season because they weren't force fed the answers to certain plot changes or storylines. I always felt great when I watched an entire season all the way through! :woot:

How people didn't understand that after two seasons I have no idea why.

That's what makes it a great show. Agreed

cause people are impatient and lazy and like everything presented to them in one shot so they dont have to think too hard

I definetly agree. Didnt like season 2 when originally watching it, but loving it now on blu-ray. Things make alot more sense now

Really? It didnt help that a promo that later aired on NBC during the week, actually revealed that it was Mr. Petrelli
So then it's hard to believe that you actually found it predictable if you saw this promo.....

And I don't watch anything on TV besides Heroes so I for one wouldn't know and apparently neither do a couple of other people. :p

No I mentioned that I instantly guessed that it was Mr. Petrelli when last week's episode aired. The promo I saw over the weekend only confirmed it. The promo revealed it but I thought it was apparent the minute they first teased it in last weeks' previews. I saw this twist coming a mile away

SERIOUSLY! I already have a couple of friend bailing out claiming they can't keep up with all that's going on. It gets crazy I know but it all comes together in the end, Hopefully this season will tie up nicer than the last, so far I'm loving it.

Exactly.

Now admitedly, there's a limit as to how many different series like Heroes and Lost that I'm willing to watch at once, since you have to devote some time and faithfulness into following these types of shows.

But once I decide I'm going to watch a particular program, I'm usually willing to stick with it.

Excellent post Ryan .You've got the overall view of the series .

Insults just because other people have a different opinion, bravo!

In the Gripes thread there's a lot of discussion, but if you love everything, good for you, it doesn't matter how contrived Peter and Sylar stories are, it doesn't matter how idiotic badass wannabe Hiro is, nor Claire or the crappy Mohinder, all the plot holes in between and the lameness of "I'm a badass now" (duh!), everyone being "dark" nonsense, I guess these characters didn't learn anything from previous events, dark is so much cooler. Everything is perfect with the show, have fun ladies and gentlemen!

Saying ratings are down in general is true, but some shows are more stable than others, and Heroes had a huge drop, like it or not, just the way it is.

Peter is cooler as a dark character, while Sylar on the other hand I like a lot more when he's playing the good guy. The Mohinder story bores me and I don't care what he does or looks like at the end of the series. There are a few plotholes though, I'll agree with that. I think we all get it though, this show isn't great but it's good enough to watch. I don't understand why people come in here week after week bashing the show about plotholes, this and that blah blah. You'd think after not liking the show for a while you'd stop watching it? Maybe I'm wrong.

I don't know if you were talking to me but I'm pretty sure I didn't say anything insulting to anyone. If you don't enjoy the show, that's fine I respect your opinion and I'm sure others do too. What I don't understand is why someone would keep watching a show they don't like...

I don't really think Peter's story is contrived at all. We've known since season one that both him and Hiro will change a great deal in their future. And unless I'm remembering wrong Claire as well. I think what we're seeing now is the first steps in their transformations into the future versions we've already seen.

What Mohinder has done to himself is really not all that surprising to me. I always got the feeling that he was a bit envious of the people around him that had super powers. When he had the chance to have powers himself it's not shocking that he would seize the opportunity.

That doesn't make it any less frustrating. Sure it will most likely get resolved at the end of the season but still it's annoying when we see Hiro stab his best friend without a second thought when all throughout the season so far he's been blaming Ando for something he didn't even do yet. Like come on man what the hell.

When the series is completely over and you watch all the eps consecutively then yeah it's probably gonna seem like a terrific show but it's hard to watch an episode like tonight and have to wait a week while thinking about Hiro killing Ando and Mohinder's crazy cacoons.

I love Lost.

Why are people taking the Hiro stabbing Ando scene at face value so much?! Has television not taught you anything?!! lol

It just seems to me that if you've watched this show from the beginning, (and since you're posting here I'm going to assume you have) it would be very obvious that there is a lot more going on with Hiro and Ando than what we've just seen.

People should know by now that this show, being what it is, will always end on a cliffhanger. It's just the nature of the show. If it really is that frustrating not knowing all of the answers right away your best bet is to just wait for the dvds. I'm not trying to sound condescending but really that's probably your best option.

Oh, I know it probably wont stick, but that doesnt change the fact that Hiro has been a *****e for the majority of the season and now he's stabbed Ando through the chest.

i guess hiro is "badass"..wow
