Chapter 5: "Fight or Flight" Discussion 10/22/07

Elle seems she is a bit messed up in the head. But it is nice to have a hero who likes using their power even if she did use it to kill someone.
Isn't that just boring old Jessica all over again? We've done this before...

No not really. With Jessica you have to involve Nikki, and the two always batteling for control. Elle is her own person, knows who she is and likes who she is (im taking this from what Kirsten has said about the charecter basically).

I'm not yet convinced she is. This "dad" fellow might be one of the 12, but maybe not the Company.

Here we are, now less than a week away from Kristen Bell's arrival on Heroes, and a few more morsels of intel are trickling in about her enabled alter ego, Elle. "She's a little messed up in the head, which makes her manipulative and out to get what she wants," the former Veronica Mars shared in a Tuesday conference call. That, Bell notes, is "really interesting... because [Heroes'] whole first season was about these fairly good-natured people trying to embrace these abilities and being very conflicted as to how they should be using them. Elle is not that way at all. She very much enjoys her power and the emotional power it gives her over other people." Series creator Tim Kring adds, "Elle was raised within the Company, and this is in some ways a cautionary tale about what would happen to any of our characters had they lived with powers their whole life."

As for Elle's ties to the canvas, Bell reveals that in addition to "a little bit" of a connection to Suresh, "There's a very interesting dynamic between her and Claire, in terms of what is and what is not. There's a deeper relationship there than people are expecting."

They really need to get Hiro the hell out of fuedal Japan. I swear the storyline is sucking every last ounce of like I had for his character. I really enjoyed him in season 1...it's not happening this time around. The payoff of all this better be big. I know he's ushering in Kensei as a major player in current events, but they're dragging it out. All of this could've been done in 2 episodes.

Anyone have any idea of how Claire can be interesting again? The writers are seriously givving her the royal ****-over this season. I kind of feel bad that Hayden's saddled to act through such ****ty material.

I'm not sure there is a way. They have completely removed the elements that make Claire interesting. Her connection to Sylar and Peter and HRG's double life. Now she is just an angsty teenager. And how do you really stop a teenage character from being that?

I was looking through the newest People magazine today..& everything I've thought of this season so far, they've printed...Here's what it said:
"Three Ways To Make Heroes Super Again"

Last season they saved the cheerleader and the world. Now the Heroes gang must rescue their own show, mired in a serious sophomore slump. Victory can be their's with these simple steps:
1) Strength in #s: The Heroes work best as a team, yet they've been redistributed around the globe. Let's get the band back together, pronto!
2) Adios, Maya & Alejandro!: The show's new deadweight additions spend each week stumbling across Mexico, getting caught and then escaping as Maya uncorks her runny mascara superpower and offs their captors. Sic Sylar on them!
3)Stop Living In The Past: Hiro teleported to 1671 Japan...and right into a cringe-worthy Harlequinn flirtation with Yaeko. Bring him home along with the Hans Solo reluctant warrior Takezo Kensei.

I pretty much agree...:ninja:

Then why didn't they send Mohinder? he wouldn't have killed anybody...

because they don't have complete trust in Mohinder, and it would be more practical to send someone with powers. Plus, he's probably already met Elle seeing as he has her powers.

They should have had him come back when he first thought about it, not change his mind and stick around. It's boring all right....

Mohinder doesn't have powers....

Those connections can be reconnected, I think. Things are slowly piecing together. I think once it's revelaed that West isn't just some airborne pretty boy (c'mon, we dang well know that he's up to something), she'll pick up.

Also, didn't that guy have Claire's car which is now in the hands of Sylar?

Hey Anthony, is Hayden saying what it looks like she's saying in your avatar?

Does West know who her old man is? Is he out for revenge? Probably on both counts.

What did Papa Parkman do to Matt and Nathan
I'm assuming it's a mind trick via his telepathy. He forshadowed that he was a much more powerful telepath than Matt was when he alluded to the fact that mind-reading was just the tip of the ice burg. I imagine he's talented in all forms of mind power...in Matt and Nathan's case, he made them hallucinate and eventually fight each other.
