Chapter 5: "Fight or Flight" Discussion 10/22/07

then it shouldn't surprise us that Nathan would be able to carry heavier objects with him
or maybe Claire would be able to heal others
Hiro did show an ability to stop a bullet and return it the gun that fired it

this show just keeps getting better and better

How would you further develop healing powers? Claire can already heal from pretty much any injury and regenerate lost limbs. Or Nathan, maybe he'll manage to fly at higher speeds, but aside from that I don't think there's much else he could do. Or DL's ability to walk though walls, what more could you do?

Well, Claire even suggested that perhaps her regeneration abilities, and it was proven to be the case, could grow back severed limbs, and perhaps heal others. "Spontaneous Regeneration" could be just part of a larger ability in which the person with it can adjust their own and other's cellular structure accordingly, potentially giving the person longevity, superhuman strength, metamorphing, and healing abilities on top of regeneration. Nathan's flight could actually be part of a larger ability to manipulate air currents besides flying, like create hurricane blasts or air shields. Maybe that's what West can do. Perhaps since Nathan can fly at supersonic speeds, he can probably move at supersonic speeds as well. And look at X-Men's Kitty Pryde to see that Phasing can do a lot more than just walk through walls.

With Claire just give her the power of Invulnerability

Nathan , Peter & West can fly at super sonic speed like Superman .

I thought Daddy Petrelli was dead. During the first season wasn't it said that he had died of a heart attack (or some such thing), but eventually Mrs.Petrelli told Peter that his dad had committed suicide? Or is there some reason to think he might still be alive?

That kinda how you generate surprise. You lead the audience one way then shock them by revealing that what you thought was true actually has many layers and is completely different.

We were never told how Mr Petrelli died only that he did. Also we dont know what his powers are. Maybe they allowed him to cheat death. He seems like too big a player to be left out for very long. He might even be the one killing off all of the old gang.

Anything is possible on heroes...after all, who thought Shaft was going to come back? He was dead and buried and managed to come back to have a heart to heart pep talk with Peter.

ive heard a theory on someone being able to control the heroes and im starting to wonder solely because did you notice how today nikk / jessica went straight for bob and he has been marked for death so maybe just maybe there is some sort of puppet master

cus think aboutit she could of justy swatted him away like she did mohinder

^^^

Something to think about. Could that puppet master possibly be Mr Petrelli? *Cue Eerie music*

Or as someone in another thread said, Parkman Sr. "joyriding" someone else to kill the other members of his group.

well i did wonderif he might be the puppet master if there is one my only thing is he was in philidelphia the attacks have been in new york thta quite far for telepathy

^^^^he was affecting molly in her dreams and she is in new york

Okay, another prediction: According to the upcoming episode, Matt, Nathan, Suresh, Niki, and Bob are going to team up against Mr. Parkman, the “Nightmare Man,” right? Presumably, it’s because it’s believed that Mr. Parkman is the one targeting the group of 12 members and that Bob is next on his list. However, I don't believe he is the killer (he seemed genuinely scared when Nathan and Matt got into the apartment) and may actually be going after Bob thinking he may know something about whoever is after them, probably just like he did with Angela and found out it wasn't her. Well, we know that Mr. Parkman is, like his son, a telepath, only much more powerful. However, apart from Matt having feedback whenever he tried to read someone’s mind who was also a telepath (first Peter and then his dad) who else was the only person who was capable of getting past his mind reading abilities? Niki. That’s because she has multiple personality disorder. Well, my guess is that Mr. Parkman will be able to effect Nathan, Matt, Suresh, and Bob when they cross paths, except Niki will be able to overcome it and eventually be immune from Mr. Parkman’s attacks because of her other personality, “Jessica.” As a result, Niki, as Jessica, kills Mr. Parkman, probably by snapping his neck. Naturally, everyone will think that he’s dead. However, the twist will be that Matt’s dad pulled an Xavier from X-Men: The Last Stand, and was able to transfer his entire consciousness into the mind of someone else just before he died. That way, he stays hidden from the real killer and can also manipulate the person he has possessed. My guess: what about his own son, Matt? It be an extra twist on the phrase “like father, like son.”

But youve gotta take molly powers into it mayeb if she did go out of bodysomething could draw her into range

I think Claire's theory about being able to heal others will come into fruition.

It would be awesome if West kills HRG and Claire attempts to revive him with her powers and it works. It would demonstrate how the powers change over time and also rectify the utter debacle Claire's story has become.

Hopefully, Claires powers let her age much slower. Like Wolverine.

That sounds likely to me, but as I said, the best part of the Parkmans is the daddy issues that we can all (well, I can certainly) relate to and the attempt to become a better person than genetics has made you. I'm still hoping for a mind over matter fight between father and son to end the season (or sweeps). Also, wouldn't the consciousness transfer be a bit too X-Men? Not that Heroes is anything like X-men...

Last night's episode was great. I think Hiro's story is so great, I love seeing ancient Japan. I can't wait to see him and Kensei go up against the army in the next episode. But I think before they go to fight them, Kensei will betray Hiro by knocking him on the head, like the previews shown. Monica is a typical sharingan, it was cool to see her mimicing the kung fu movie. The nightmare man's power was so cool, I really loved that power, and can't wait to see what he'll be up to.

As much as I like Hiro, I wish he would just get back to present day.

I think he will soon.

ugghh that reminds me of chloe smallville healing lois with a tear. No thanks

This really feels like a different show this season. That's a good thing though, keeps things fresh and new.

It also seems like Parkman Jr. is going to become as powerful as his father (and together they can rule the galaxy as father and son) so his power can actually be a power and not just a neat parlor trick.

Suresh seems fit to become a more intelligent version of HRG within the company.

Yeah, I think Monday was the first time Parkman talked with his telepathy, sending rather than just receiving.

Is anyone else annoyed with the direction they're taking Monica? Especially with her "normal" friend/sidekick? She wants to help people, make a difference. She always felt special.

It just seems like Hiro and Ando all over again.

That's sorta the point. And Micah would probably be more useful than Ando as a sidekick.
