This is so wrong of me, but I thought it was wonderful to see those guys die painfully. And the head cheerleader getting terrorized.

Which is the moral lesson of this episode, I think. The line between using your powers for self preservation, or petty revenge.

It was West. They were probably staging it so that she'd go running to the other cheerleaders saying some flying masked man killed Claire and tried to kill her, then Claire will pop up, completely fine, and she'll look like an idiot, just like Claire said that cheerleaders hate.
