The Dark Knight Rises Characterization of the Knight - Nolan and Bale's Bruce Wayne/Batman

He didn't really have an image before the rant, he was just known for his roles, which is what he wants, but the rant is really the only thing he's known for outside his acting, so people just immediately associate it with him.

Exactly, and that's not something he deserves.

Great avatar, btw. Larry David is the best!

I'm pretty sure he deliver a damn good performance in TDKR

Why wouldn't he? Bale is one of the greatest actors of all time (my personal #1) and he's never given a bad performance.

I think that Oscar win is just going to push him even harder to give us an even better performance in TDKR.

He's rebounded pretty well for himself with The Fighter and his Oscar win. I was scared that he might have had a rougher come around after his "Mantrum".

LD rules, we obviously like actors that can go on a rant :woot:

Bale was overshadowed in TDK but that doesn't take anything away from his performance at all. He had a few great scenes with Alfred, the one where he is just devastated after losing Rachael and especially the one when they are closing off the batbunker. He just has a way showing layers of emotions without it being obvious.

I would give an arm for Bale to play a villain in the future.

I was actually hoping beyond hope that somehow Daniel Craig snuck into TDKR as a villain. Those two together could've been quite explosive!

Imagine this.

Get Nolan to direct a bond film, hans on the score, wally on the lighting, craig as bond and bale as the villain.

Good, now change your pants....

It must be weird to be standing that close to the edge of a skyscraper....even if you have straps on.

Unless I'm mistaken, I remember reading on how Bale nearly suffered a fatal accident for that scene; something about how he could have had his head sliced off by one of helicopters had he not dodge its blades on time.

That would have been beyond tragic. Thank god it didn't happen.

Certainly. But brother, I wish he stayed on for Stone's "W".

Do you have any "tips" for movies with him?

I have seen all his Batman movies, The Prestige, Equillibrium, Harsh Times (totally insane lol), The Machinist, Rescue Dawn, snippets of American Pyscho.

But seriously, watch that film. And The Fighter also.

I've got a strange question for you guys: What do you guys think Batman would do if he existed in the world of Watchmen? Do you think he would he agree with Ozymandias or Rorschach in the ending?

Neither. Both are murderers. But he would agree with Rorschach about exposing the truth. He may lie about some things for the greater good (the very idea of a secret identity is itself deception) but killing, especially killing on such a mass scale, is not something he could reconcile with.

Agreed. I think that he could never condone Rorschach's facist worldviews and murderous vigilantism, nor could he agree with mass murdering millions.

why would he want to expose the truth? it's the same thing as the dark knight ending. he wouldn't expose the truth about ozzy just as he wouldn't expose the truth about harvey. people would lose hope. batman and dr manhattan are the scapegoats.

Christian Bale is someone I expect working until well over his 70s. The guy just loves acting and movies all around. You know he loves what he does, you can see it.

That paragraph of him taking off the cape and cowl really shows his attachment to Batman, and his dedication to the role. This is a guy who has spent more than half a decade perfecting two fictional characters, and now the shooting is all over. I don't expect him to be showing up at any comic cons when he's older, I don't see him putting on the cowl again for a rehash or a parody or a sequel.

He acts for the sake of acting, and so when he takes off the cowl, that character is now in the hands of us and, eventually, cinema history.

If the two leads of the film had died, The Dark Knight would have gone down in history as a haunted movie and others would be made about its production, sort of like Shadow of the Vampire.

Kinda makes me wish it had happened, damn you Bale and your ninja training.

Definitely watch American Psycho. I'd also add 3:10 To Yuma to the list of suggestions. Bale and Crowe had great chemistry. You can just tell that they got along really well during the shoot and were having fun. It would be nice to see those two work again.

If you're a fan of Malick, you can give The New World a try. His role there is quite different from the roles that he's been doing lately. It's a very nuanced, vulnerable performance.

I definitely second 3:10 to Yuma.
One of the best westerns of the last decade.

I cant believe I forgot 310 to Yuma. One of the greatest westerns of all time period
