Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Chloe Bennet IS Skye

Our government has hired no name hackers plenty of times. :)

SHIELD isn't "our government." :yay: Nor do they have the same interests and jurisdictions that an agency like, say, the FBI or CIA have. They are a very specialized international organization dedicated to fighting some very non-traditional dangers to the planet.

Because she's a really skilled hacker. Are you watching the same show everyone else is?

Besides, SHIELD doesn't hire people because of who they are, they hire them because of who they have the potential to become.

That was my point: Coulson isn't hiring Skye to be a hacker, because he doesn't need one; he's hiring Skye because there's something else there within her, that he and the audience will uncover as the show goes on.

But cherokee is right. Skye is an inept hacker who couldn't even stop SHIELD from finding her location quite easily.

Uhhh... I think you're forgetting the part in the episode where they interrogate her - she basically admits she let them find her.

Skye implied that she let them find her. She seemed to be bluffing to me, trying to turn the tables on Coulson and Ward.

Well, Coulson wasn't even sure that Skye is her real name, despite having the greatest intel agency in the world. There's a reason why he wants to recruit her because he saw real talent behind her Rising Tide movement, and thought that she'd be an asset to the team.

Is there a Rising Tide movement beyond Skye and her little van? So far we haven't seen anything to suggest that the group is more than a fiction she created to bolster her delusions of grandeur.

She's also the hacker who hacked into SHIELD from a van, and they couldn't break her codes, so clearly she's got skill.

She reminds a lot of this girl

She said she is "weirdly good" with computers, maybe she has some kind of hacking or tech powers and just doesn't understand them? I feel like that 'weirdly' line was just throwaway dialogue, but if sam is right and she has some sort of powers maybe not.

Maybe Skye is a robot. That would explain her lack of a traceable history, last name, common sense, people skills, etc., and ability to live in a van and still look like she has a stylist on call. It would be like, "What if Machine Man were a woman?" Or Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Maybe Skye is Jocasta. As Robot Chicken M Night Shaymalan would say "what a twist."

In the preview for ep. 2, both Ward and May questioned Skye's qualifications to be an agent of SHIELD, and Coulson is the only one who backs her enrollment. I think that kind of skepticism is good, and we shall see whether Coulson's faith in her is warranted in the long run.

I feel like you guys are just making stuff up based on what you want. It's well established that she's a skilled hacker and was hired by Coulson for that reason. There's nothing else to it.

Also, if he doesn't need a hacker than why does he need an engineer, a bio-chemist, a pilot, and a black ops specialist? Are there not plenty of those to go around? Skye wasn't hired to be "a hacker" she was hired to be Coulson's hacker, just like May is Coulson's pilot and Fitz is Coulson's engineer. This team is Coulson's team.

But cherokee is right. Skye is an inept hacker who couldn't even stop SHIELD from finding her location quite easily.
"Wow... yeah. Was that a mistake? Or am I now sitting in the center of your secret headquarters? I got inside, and by now you've discovered you can't beat the inscription on my equipment, so you got nothing."

She's also the hacker who hacked into SHIELD from a van, and they couldn't break her codes, so clearly she's got skill.
Thank you. It's amazing how people try to complicate things that are so simple. Skye is a hacker and she was hired to be a hacker.

Coulson needs all of those specialists from within SHIELD itself because their skills are essential to the mission. Sure, there may be plenty of them inside SHIELD, but why wouldn't there be? Those are exactly the type of highly-trained individuals SHIELD recruits. There would also be many computer experts at SHIELD, with as much talent as Skye if not a helluva lot more. Looking at what Fitz was able to accomplish in the pilot, with his mini flying robots and holographic CSI setup, he's definitely a genius and better with computers than Skye. It doesn't make much sense for Coulson to have brought her into his team when he's got people like Fitz right at hand, and with much less questionable backgrounds.

Exactly.

"Field work" --- i.e., Bond-style ass-kicking --- is essential to Coulson's team, thus May and Ward. Forensic investigation is essential, thus FitzSimmons and their beyond state-of-the-art equipment. Hacking is *not* a crucial part of what Coulson does, so I don't buy that Coulson needs one. (Neither does May or Ward apparently, in the preview to Ep. 2.)

So what *does* Skye bring to the table that would interest Coulson? Other than being smoking hot? Well, like Coulson, she seems to have an uncanny knack for scoping out superheroes among us. Through Rising Tide, she might have already discovered some that even Coulson wasn't aware of yet. And that's pretty much the whole point of the team and the show --- to go investigate the super-powered equivalent of The X-Files.

Skye is being groomed for her innate ability to connect to superpowers. And maybe, as I suspect, it's because she's got latent powers herself. Just as many people speculate that Coulson does as well, which would explain his fabled "resurrection" and also his ability to scout out new heroes and villains.

That's Skye in a nutshell: Superhero groupie/stalker. :lmao:

One could only imagine on how she's react if she ever got a chance to meet the likes of Thor or Iron man in person.lol

Maybe she'll invent Skye Net.

Nothing wrong with that. There is nothing wrong with that...:hrt:

Not gonna lie, Ms. Bennet has already worked her way up my celeb crush list. What a knockout she is and only 21. If only more geeks living in vans (down by the river!) looked like her. :cwink:

I think he hired her for her hacker skills, but also because of her secret.

Uggghhh..... You and sam are so... ugghh.

:wall:

Why must you make up stuff to fit what you want rather than accept what Joss has presented? There's nothing to suggest that Fitz is any better at what he does than Skye is at what she does. In fact, it has been well established that Skye is master hacker.

Skye is being groomed for her innate ability to connect to superpowers...
Possibly somewhat

... and you lost me.

Somehow? That doesn't surprise me.
Let's just all watch and see what happens, mmkay? We'll all keep our own pet theories that may or may not prove true, whatev. But quit trying to ***** about someone expressing an opinion or speculating about what's going on in the present or future of the story.

Maybe, but Pepper is probably one superhuman Skye would prefer not to get within reach of. :cwink:

lol

But seriously, her last name must be .... Stark .... probably a result of tony's promiscuity

- Genius
- hacked Shield
- has charisma
- following is not really her style
- is it a coincidence that we saw a Stark Industries ad right before Peterson meets Skye ?

lol

Well she is at least half MCU Tony's age. And she is skiled, no doubt about it.

Would be funny if it were true :)
