What if Skye is Miss America Chavez?

Her whole village was killed trying to get to her, and the SHIELD team that saved her was picked off one by one, forcing her into SHIELD custody making it look like she was passed from one foster family to the next, and making one agent go AWOL suggesting that she is of great importance. But they would probably want a character of gret power and importance that might not make it to the movies. So maybe Miss America?

Well she'd certainly fit. I don't know anything about that character though. Are you saying Miss America Chavez has that same whole backstory as Skye (ie her whole village is killed etc)?

I've done a little bit of reading. Apparently Miss America Chavez's parents are two lesbian women. If that's who she is, maybe that's why Coulson didn't want Skye to find out about her parents. He didn't want her to know she's the daughter of two lesbians.

In the comics Miss Chavez comes from a dimension in the future or something, she fell through a "portal" type thing when she was little.
So it wouldn't matter where she ended up. Just like Thor ending up on Earth, if Skye is Miss America she could have suddenly ended up on Earth. SHIELD and the enemy could have found out about it, like how they found out about the Cosmic Cube in Cap and about Thor in Thor. And killed everyone to get to whatever it was. Her powers in the comics are to open portals through dimensions. So that would be a pretty good power to kill for. Also her parents being lesbians, Whedon has never shied away from that stuff and may even see it as an opportunity to support and promote that. He originally wanted Xander and Willow to be gay, but ended up just making Willow gay but not shying away from it at all. Plus it being a TV show it wouldn't take a lot of effects to give her "Buffy" styled powers and portals. And could play down how powerful she is too so that suddenly Skye isn't Thor.
Just a thought about who she could be.

Not saying she has to be Miss America, but it would be a conclusion to
her mysterious back story that I would accept and like.

I would love that. Between that and Cassie Lang's dad being the new Ant Man in the film instead of Hank Pym, Young Avengers is looking possible.

Confession: I really, REALLY want Kate Bishop because she's awesome.

I totally forgot about America's parents being lesbians because she revealed in a recent comic that she wasn't into guys either.

Still, everything else could work and it makes more sense than my theory...that she's a Kree/Skrull hybrid like Hulkling.

That would be cool too, but I went with Chavez because she sort of looks like her and a human character with Buffy level powers would be easier than a shape changer.
But its just an idea/theory. We will have to see who she actually is, I just hope they don't make us wait another season or two for viewers to find out.

The way they have built her up it couldn't just be something simple like she is the daughter of Coulsen or the sister of May, to me anyway. It needs to match the level of build up.

That would almost certainly be Skye's story....if you could provide any proof that the backstory you just described pertains to Miss America. I've never *once* heard of Young Avengers' Miss America having that backstory. Her actual backstory in the comics is that she's basically Supergirl from DC. Can you point to any YA issues that show the Skye backstory you're talking about?

I think he was just recapping Skye's story and saying you could apply it to Chavez, but not that it played out that way in the comics.

Sky's back story: She was found as an infant by SHIELD when her whole village was slaughtered they saved her and took her back to America, she was an object of unknown origin SHIELD was sent to pick up. Then over the years the SHIELD team sent to get her starts getting killed off and the last living agent went AWOL. Meanwhile Skye was bounced around foster homes by SHIELD to keep her moving so she wouldn't be found.
But the question is why all this for her?

Miss America Chavez's back story: She comes from an alternate universe future where she has two lesbian parents and possibly everyone there had super powers. She fell through a portal as a young girl. Years later she joins the Young Avengers with Buffy super strength, the ability to fly, and ability to kick or punch portals through time and space.

All I am saying is that Skye's back story and America's back story could line up. Skye could be a child from an alternate reality future where she somehow went through a portal (like Thor or the Cosmic Cube) and landed where they found her. SHIELD was sent to pick up the OUO/her and the bad guys were killing to get to her. Now years later she is an adult and doesn't know who or where she is from and possibly has no idea she has powers.
Since this is a TV show they can tweak things here and there. America is a lesbian but Skye isn't. They can also make Skye not as powerful as America if they wanted, or have her try to learn how to use her powers over the years. But I am also not saying I think this is what they will do. It would be cool by me. Her secret origin must be as good as the mystery is building up. So they can't just have her be Colsen's daughter. If they build it up too much fans wont be happy no matter what, like Red John on Mentalist, they built it up over many seasons so that no matter who Red John was it was never good enough. I am sure they will not do this and it will be fine, but I just think it would be cool if she was America.
