Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Chloe Bennet IS Skye

Yeah up until this gig she's always went by Chang, which leads me to believe either the studios or her PR person for some reason thought it needed change. Either way I find it odd and of being of Asian descent it causes a lil loss of fanfare for that discretion.

She never went by Chang, since her surname is Wang.

Oh and I prefer the white one over the black.

And I can't see that the studio thought that Chloe Wang wouldn't work, otherwise they should've asked Ming Na to change her name as well since it sounds even more Asian.

If anyone changed it, it was Chloe herself, which it was:

Lol she's proud of ground breaking American Asian actress but no one will ever know that, we'll unless looked into. Smh bet Ming disagreed. But it is tuff, hey maybe she'll change it back now that she's made it. Or hyphenate it.

So she's not an alien then. Coulsson bringing it up when talking to her basically rules it out. Nice nod to the fans though.

In fairness to her decision, her real surname is also a slang term for a gentleman's member, so I could see why some casting agents may have been skipping past her somewhat.

That's may take on it too. It was fun to see her freaking out over the possibility, though! "Wait... You're saying I'm an alien!?" "That's one theory."

So 2 frontrunners are Jess Drew or Quake?

Just as a tv perspective. Which would have the more impressive powers, for viewers that don't have a clue who they are?

For viewers like me? I still don't know who Quake and Drew are, so I'm not in the best position to answer that. :woot:

To put it in perspective, Quake can literally shake things up (as indicated by her name). That could make for some impressive VFX.

But on Star Trek Voyager there was an actor named Garett Wang. He might have faded into obscurity since, but he got a top series with his name at the time without having to change it.

Now that we know the map in Coulson's head is a map of Attilan, it's almost a certainty that Skye is an inhuman....the question being which one.

Since she was of interest to the powers that be from when she was a child, we can rule out her being a dormant inhuman who was recently exposed....she is an inhuman, flat out, at birth, and one who is important enough to draw that amount of attention.

She could be Crystal.

Honestly these days I'm leaning towards 'original character'

All the other stuff, Daisy and Mr Hyde, etc feel kind of forced imo

Marvel could make her any character and simply make that character an Inhuman in the cinematic universe.

I seriously doubt that they'd introduce any of the "big name" Inhumans in the show. They're probably saving Black Bolt, Medusa, Crystal, Maximus, etc for the movie. If she's an Inhuman, then she'll likely either be a more obscure one from the comics, or one that they've invented for the show.

If she was an obscure character, why would she have drawn so much attention as a child, especially when she shows no outward signs of any kinds of powers.

I think this is likely. I wouldn't mind seeing Daisy Johnson (who is a mutant in the comics) and her father become Inhumans on the show.

Umm we don't know the reason. Maybe it was because of her parents, maybe she had powers but just forgot about them or had her memory erased, maybe it's something else entirely. Since we know very little about her past, we don't know why people are interested in her. But assuming "people are interested in her, so she must be a big name character from the comics" is a hug logical leap that isn't supported by the available evidence.

Wow, I had no idea Skye was Asian

I had no idea Chloe Bennet was Asian lmfao!

Her real name is Chloe Wang though, so that should've given you a clue. And she does look half Asian as well.

Lol, I figured that she was a Hispanic that looks Asian, but very slightly.

I didn't know about the different name.

As Marvel seems intent on reimagining characters I'm reminded that the Ultimate version of Gorgon was female, a sister to Medusa and Crystal. Given that Gorgan and Quake's powers are quite similar (seismic) it provides an opportunity for some type of MCU amalgamated character, with The Doctor/Mr Hyde similarly merged with Korath.

Going over many of the possibilities for Skye's alter ego, I can't help but wonder if Quake would be the best fit on a TV budget.

Portraying her seismic abilities must be less costly than plasma energy beams or blasts (Sarah Garza), manipulating the four elements (Crystal), or the various abilities of the ridiculously powerful Carol Danvers.

I really hope Skye doesn't turn out to be someone important (character-wise). She's been so, so annoying this series.
