Chris Hemsworth is Thor

Hemsworth > Skars

He's just way manlier than Skars (which is fitting for Thor): His voice, his looks and his presence. I'm really happy with the choice! :-)

And he must have played the role better, as they both tested, so yeah, he is :).

Lol... certain shots he just looks like his tripping on acid or somthing.

he looks more captain america than thor but I'm still happy with the choice, I thought he was excellent in star trek.

For those still wondering whether Hemsworth officially has the role, this is Marvel Studios executive Kevin Feige on why they cast Hemsworth:

As for casting Chris Hemsworth as Thor, he says that "there was no question" and that they "couldn't take [their] eyes off of him."

No question? Then why did a casting director pass on him early on?

Chris had read for the part of Thor but wasn't given a test because a casting director had nixed him early on.

I have no problem with Hemsworth but I hope they don't start pretending now that he that the second he first tested, everyone knew he would be the perfect Thor because that clearly wasn't the case.

Cool.

So most likely going for lesser/unknowns for the movie and hoping for the characters themselves to bring in the audiences.

Neither were the X-Men when their first movie came out. I'm sure Thor will add a few "names"

Being nixed by a casting director early on means that he had never read for Branagh, Feige, and co and was likely just reading a page out of the script for a talent scout.

Him being nixed early on by a casting director and Branagh/Feige/etc being unable to take their eyes off of him and being wowed by an in character screen test are not contradictory thoughts.

Makes you wonder if that casting director still has a job. ;)

He looks good, but I still think he looks more like Cap than Thor.

Well Thor doesn't normally have short hair :p. I'm glad he won't be Cap, though. IMO Cap has to be played by an American

I'd take an out-of-towner who can fake a convincing American accent. It's gotta be really good, though. Like, Christian Bale or Anna Friel good (I didn't even know Friel was from England until I saw her IMDB page, in fact).

do you think he'll let his hair grows for the role?

he should starts now, no?
