i am surprised if that odin casting isnt already locked since it was reported awhile ago.

Me too; I mean, the Odin shortlist must be a very small one, considering the parameters of the role. You'd think that wouldve been one of the 1st roles that they boxed off.

Yea production starts in 4 months... so I think the news is acomin soon.

As an Aussie who has seen Hemsworth act locally, I would like to apologise to all Thor fans ahead of this movie's release.
I'd just like to throw in my two cents and say that I, as a once-regular viewer of Home and Away, also apologize in advance. I hope Branagh certainly knows what he's doing because, from what I recall, Hemsworth could hardly act to save his life and only had one facial expression that I know of. Of course, times change, as do people, but there have been exceptions and I'm not a little nervous about this movie's and, in turn, The Avengers' outcomes.

On the bright side, he pleasantly surprised me in Star Trek, brief though his appearance was. Maybe there's some hope yet.

I watched 'Home and Away' also regularly here in Belgium, but you can't compare it with his future projects. He did well in Star Trek and has gained a lot of experience. I'm looking forward to this one!

Home and Away is a stupid, melodrama. Judging Hemsworths acting ability just by watching some silly soap opera makes zero sense.

A lot of Australian stars started out on Home and Away and Neighbours. Just look at Naomi Watts.

very valid, most famous australian stars either went through H&A or Neighbours, think of them as proving grounds or paying dues

Russell Crowe, Guy Pearce, etc.

Hell, even Alan Dale has been a success in Hollywood, albeit largely on the small screen of American TV (although he did appear in the last Indiana Jones flick), and who here can honestly say that they thought he's ever shake off the Jim Robinson from Neighbours tag?

I'd say the same about Ryan Kwanten, currently starring in True Blood.

Hemsworth showed more promise in the 5 minutes he was in Star Trek than he did the whole time he was in Home & Away.

Yea nothing is set in stone yet.

But as proven, a lot of actors and actresses make the transition from Aussie soap to Hollywood pretty well.

yea should be interesting to see what he does with thor my only exposure to chris is the few mins he was in trek and i thought he did well with the role.

Did anyone see him in A Perfect Getaway? I would think that's a far more substantive role than his appearance in Star Trek and a much more recent and "serious" role than his time on that Australian soap opera, so it'd probably give us the best idea of how his acting is now.

Havent seen it, but I am definately interested in the viewpoints of people who have too.

On a side note, just how long did it take you to make that Hammer sig, Corp?

Yowza.

It's the patience thing; I'd get about half way before I threw my pc through the window.

He isn't in it for very long but he is solid in the role.

I saw it for free online (Have no choice my country no longer has any theaters :csad:) and from what I see he definitely has a great screen presence. And the way the director introduced him was really cool. They sort of hide his face and kept showing a little more or him and then a little more. (Not sure why though, since he is not really a main character but his role is important for the plot though).

As for his performance he did not have that much screen time but for the little he was on he was VERY intimidating he brings a lot of tension to the atmosphere when he is on which was what i think his character was suppose to do.

Overall it was good but I still like to see him in another role where he has more screen time to really scope out his acting skills.

What Island you from man? That must be a pain in the arse not having cinemas over there.

No the four main characters are the Steve Zahn/Milla Jovovich couple and the Timothy Olyphant/Kiele Sanchez couple. The couple with Hemsworth are side characters and somewhat minor in the grand scheme of the movie.

A country without cinema's? Jeez, kinda put's things into perspective for a guy. I'll have to remind myself of that the next time I ***** about something that I totally take for granted.

Saint Vincent & the Grenadines. There use to be 1 but it closed down. I guess it couldn't compete with the Black Market and high cost or electricity.
