Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Comic Characters who HAVE shown up in Agents of SHIELD

Eh. . . I think most of those "influenced by" are *really* reaching. Scorch, sure. The rest? No, especially 'The Wizard', who has nothing meaningful in common with the character of the same name.

No, somebody who probably should be on that list? Ian Quinn. He's an original character, but you could make a good case that he's inspired by various evil CEOs from the comics, and likely is intended as an expy and substitute for Justin Hammer.

Good point about Quinn. He definitely resembles many criminal industrialists in the comics, and he's probably inspired in part by those characters.

As for the other characters I had listed, not everybody will see them as influenced by characters from the comics. I'm only speaking for myself and giving my own impression. Not everyone will agree.

That's a pretty use. Substitute A characters with D Characters created at use.

Vic Hand = Nick Fury (ok, Nick made a cameo but the "operative role" of Fury is Vic)
Ian Quinn = Justin Hammer

List: - Victoria Hand
- Graviton
- Scorch
- Jasper Sitwell

+ Deathlok
+ Lorelei
+ John Garrett

Added those last two on confirmation coming out of the TCA panel that J. August Richards has, in fact, officially become Deathlok, and that Sif will come to Earth to search for Walt Simonson's Lorelei. (Who happens to be the sister of Amora, The Enchantress.)

*Edit: also added John Garrett, who will be played by Bill Paxton in at least four upcoming episodes. Garrett is a canon SHIELD agent who appeared in a lot of Elektra comics.

Interesting to notice that, with the exception of the Asgardians (and Scorch, if you count him), all of these characters are, were, or were in training to be, agents of SHIELD.

Graviton was not an agent, he was a scientist on a watch list

So with Lorelei confirmed, does anyone else think she is (or is at least connected to) the clairvoyant? Her sister is the Enchantress, could they be working together?

Now why would a godly alien meddle in our petty affairs?

I can't see the connection. Or at least, I can't see the Enchantresses motives to be the clairevoyant. that's not really her modus operandi.

At the risk of generating even more disagreement about who should or shouldn't be on this list, should we also have a list of "Honorable Mentions" -- comic book characters who haven't actually appeared in the MCU (yet), but have still been name-dropped on AoS.

- John Horton/Griffin
- Man-Thing (though implied by Ellen Brandt's existence in IM3?)

Well if you go by "Honorable Mentions" you'd also have to mention Alexander Pierce and all of the Avengers (Stark, Thor, Cap, Banner, Romanoff and Barton) as well as Pepper Potts, Blonsky and Loki.

Which is why I specifically said characters who haven't otherwise been in the MCU yet. It's one thing to name-drop Stark, Agent Romanov, or Captain America (who we all know about from the movies), but something totally different to mention some guy named Johnny Horton who gave himself lion claws for hands.

Triplett was in the comics, too, wasn't he? I didn't know Koenig was a canonical character, btw. Cool.

I think Triplett is a made up character, probably because they don't have the rights to GW Bridge.

Why wouldn't they have the rights to GW Bridge? I just thought he's a somewhat special character who isn't going to be reduced to regular agent. Triplett works because he's a possible main cast member and all of the main cast are original creations.
