Days of Future Past continuity is looking bad

from what i read on this site the idea is its set in the 60s and we find out how Professor Xavier wound up in a wheelchair, and we see the class pre-first class, so no cyclops and jean

so if he is in a wheel chair by the end how can this fit in with wolverine and xmen 3 where he is clearly walking when he gets cyclops and jean

and then emma frost is in this movie? so this pre-dates wolvering? hmm...

this is abit messed up timeline, has bishop been cast yet :/

i think part of this film will take place in the 60s w/Xavier & Eric's relationship, then move on to the 70s

I think Jean's origin in X3 took place in late 70s, early 80s...so it probably won't be shown them going to see Jean. it could be that Xavier only tutored Jean either from her home or she came for visits @ the mansion...and later own she decides to join the team and move on campus

XO:W most likely takes place in 80s and when Scott is recruited Xavier & Eric went their seperate ways

Far as Xavier being crippled may come in a sequel

So what is she doing around in the 60s? Did they pick the character then pick the cast, or pick the cast then find them a suitable looking character?

i took it as a total reboot. they made a point to mention the civil rights movement and considering how much the X-Men mirrors the sentiments of that era i wouldn't think theyd just gloss over it in the first 15-20 minutes just to get to what they want to do.

.....of course this is Fox we're talking about so they could just not give a crap about maintaining some semblence of their own continuity just to knock this movie out by next summer.

Comic timeline is irrelevant to the movies. You can say that Rogue was a villain before joining the X-Men and we all know that didn't happen in the movies.

If you were Singer would you want to include X3 or Wolverine into the same continuity as X1 or X2? I will gladly forget X3 and Wolverine so Singer can fix everything unholy that is of X3 and Wolverine.

Hence my point about a disclaimer at the beginning of the movie. Because if he does not put one in then X3 and Wolverine still stand timeline wise in the movieverse.

So I guess we are going to have to no-prize the flashback scene, just tell ourselves that Xavier and Magneto made up that day, and since Jean Grey's house did not have wheelchair access back then, Xavier is wearing metal trousers under his cloth ones and Magneto is controlling his legs.

Those are small things that don't really matter. Continuity with X3 won't matter a lot because this is a prequel. If Singer were making an X-Men film that took place after X3 and inserted a ton of contradictory things then there would be a problem.

they have the rights to any and all characters related the X-Men so they can use whoever they want. we already know Fox doesn't give a crap about what the fans want from these movies so they're gonna tell whatever story they think will bring in the most money. if they think Angel/Tempest is a "cool" enough character to use in the movie, nobody in the general audience is gonna argue that she isn't supposed to be born for another 30 years.

How do you know time travel isn't involved? That's been speculated on this forum too. Or are you speculating like everyone else?

Maybe THEY can do whatever they like with any character they see fit, but doesn't make a smart move though...Galactus spings to mind.
