from what i read on this site the idea is its set in the 60s and we find out how Professor Xavier wound up in a wheelchair, and we see the class pre-first class, so no cyclops and jean

so if he is in a wheel chair by the end how can this fit in with wolverine and xmen 3 where he is clearly walking when he gets cyclops and jean

and then emma frost is in this movie? so this pre-dates wolvering? hmm...

this is abit messed up timeline, has bishop been cast yet :/

i think part of this film will take place in the 60s w/Xavier & Eric's relationship, then move on to the 70s

I think Jean's origin in X3 took place in late 70s, early 80s...so it probably won't be shown them going to see Jean. it could be that Xavier only tutored Jean either from her home or she came for visits @ the mansion...and later own she decides to join the team and move on campus

XO:W most likely takes place in 80s and when Scott is recruited Xavier & Eric went their seperate ways

Far as Xavier being crippled may come in a sequel

To me it seems as if Mr Singer is saying most if not all of the film is set in the 60s including the Hellfire Club.

And to screw up the continuity further Angel Salvadore was picked up by Wolverine and taken to Xavier's institute http://marvel.com/universe/Angel_(Angel_Salvadore)

So what is she doing around in the 60s? Did they pick the character then pick the cast, or pick the cast then find them a suitable looking character?

this is a prequel to Brian Singer's films(X1-X2) his vision and style was not in X3 and wolverine

Will this be the disclaimer at the start of the film? Because a lot of people need to be informed.

i took it as a total reboot. they made a point to mention the civil rights movement and considering how much the X-Men mirrors the sentiments of that era i wouldn't think theyd just gloss over it in the first 15-20 minutes just to get to what they want to do.

.....of course this is Fox we're talking about so they could just not give a crap about maintaining some semblence of their own continuity just to knock this movie out by next summer.:cmad:

Comic timeline is irrelevant to the movies. You can say that Rogue was a villain before joining the X-Men and we all know that didn't happen in the movies.

But they were all part of the same series and should have a consistent continuity, especially since Wolverine is still spawning sequels and X4 is inevitable.

If you were Singer would you want to include X3 or Wolverine into the same continuity as X1 or X2? I will gladly forget X3 and Wolverine so Singer can fix everything unholy that is of X3 and Wolverine. :yay:

Doesn't matter if Singer wants it or not. Jackman owns the character as much as anyone so his involvement in origins means it's continuity. If Wolverine never got made then it'd be ok, but now it's all messed up.

And what happened in the movies? Oh yes we're suppose to disregard what happened in X3 an Wolverine. I dont think Angel Salvadore was intended to be a character around in the 1960s.

Hence my point about a disclaimer at the beginning of the movie. Because if he does not put one in then X3 and Wolverine still stand timeline wise in the movieverse.

Well it's pretty clear that FC will not flow smoothly with X3 and Wolverine but guess what? The world is still spinning.

since NOBODY outside of X-Men/Morrison fans knows who Angel Salvadore is, it doesnt really matter if shes in this movie.

Yeah, even though X3 is pretty average, I would still like it to match up with the prequel. So I guess we are going to have to no-prize the flashback scene, just tell ourselves that Xavier and Magneto made up that day, and since Jean Grey's house did not have wheelchair access back then, Xavier is wearing metal trousers under his cloth ones and Magneto is controlling his legs.

 LOL :awesome:

And it begs the question why is this character is in the movie. Surely there must have been other mutants around in the 60s :whatever:

Those are small things that don't really matter. Continuity with X3 won't matter a lot because this is a prequel. If Singer were making an X-Men film that took place after X3 and inserted a ton of contradictory things then there would be a problem.

They don't have to use a character that has been around since the 60s for a movie set in the 60s ..

they have the rights to any and all characters related the X-Men so they can use whoever they want. we already know Fox doesn't give a crap about what the fans want from these movies so they're gonna tell whatever story they think will bring in the most money. if they think Angel/Tempest is a "cool" enough character to use in the movie, nobody in the general audience is gonna argue that she isn't supposed to be born for another 30 years.

Time travel?

Thinking about all the speculation done on this forum, Shadow King, Storm, Cyclops, Jean. All completely wrong. Instead we a get a character, picked from the Marvel Universe and placed in some alternate reality that's suppose to be a prequel.

I'm sure in X1 Xavier says Cyclops and Jean were my first students or words to that effect. I believe Bryan Singer was responsible for that film.

It has nothing to do with time travel, they can use ANY X-Men character and place them in ANY time period for ANY movie they choose to make.

How do you know time travel isn't involved? That's been speculated on this forum too. Or are you speculating like everyone else?

Maybe THEY can do whatever they like with any character they see fit, but doesn't make a smart move though...Galactus spings to mind.

How about we watch the movie, and then complain?
