The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Dane Dehaan IS Harry Osborn

You keep saying that "You can say that about any other character"? So? Dexter is a psychopath and so is Joker and so is that guy from American Psycho and so is that guy from No Country for Old Men and so on...

Yup because you're just taking traits that are vague and can be applied in a bazillion ways to sooooo many different characters.

Like psychopath. You are sooooo right you can say that about a bazillion villains. Gobby is crazy. Two Face is crazy. Joker is crazy. Heh most of the villains in Arkham are nuts.

It's just vague descriptions you're using for DeHaan and how he looks like a Goblin with the pointy ears and teeth stuff. Even the green skin thing. His face is more flesh coloured than green.

You make it sound like a drawback while it really isn't. Everything is inspired by something else. There is nothing truly original. Even the GG from the comics looks like... i don't know, like an actual goblin?

Yup he does. I ain't dissing that. Never did.

This is from wikipedia.

"A goblin is a legendary evil or mischievous creature; a grotesquely evil or evil-like phantom."

Yup, and a Rhino is an animal that lives in Africa and eat bushes and leaves and trees. An Octopus lives in the sea, squirts ink, and have a main diet of crabs.

Do you see anyone complaining Rhino and Doc Octopus don't do that heh?

I consider the glider as a part of the Goblin's character.

I consider batarangs and Batmobile as part of Batman's character. They're important tech he uses. But they ain't part of his look.

Having GG without a glider is like having Batman without a Batmobile. Now, i'd be pissed too if he didn't have a glider, but the glider that he has now is pretty cool, so i'm pleased.

Yup it's aces he has a glider, but I ain't talking about his gadgets he uses. I'm talking about his design. His look.

I know that aliens can have pointy ears, but again i don't understand why you are bringing that up. GG has pointy ears in the comics and so he does in the movie. (i'm getting repetitive)

I bring it up because you saying that is vague city. It don't make him look like a Goblin, or a comic book Spidey Goblin.

I told you to accept the fact that cinematic liberties need to be taken. It happens all the time and it's going to keep happening. I just gave you a friendly advice to get over it so that you will be able to enjoy the movie more.

I think that that's a healthy attitude. One day CBMs will simply stop being produced because people will be tired of them. I say, enjoy them while you still have them.

I do accept liberties are taken pal. You can't name a single CBM that doesn't take 'em. We all accept that.

What you need to accept is that not everyone sees them all as good. A lot of peeps don't like this Gobby look. A lot didn't like Lizard's look. A lot didn't like the first TASM Spidey suit.

Just the way it is. If you love it then aces for you. We can't all get what we want or like what we get.

I just want to point out that he looks lame to you.

Heh you didn't need to point that out. I already knew that.

A lot of people here seem to like it.

A lot of people love McDonalds. It doesn't make it the best restaurant in the world.

It's always the same handful of peeps who post here daily. You talk like it's a rotation of hundreds heh.

I wouldn't say fudige is trolling, I think he's been pretty respectful with posts.

I guess someone more devious than me would call this trolling.

How is any of that trolling? Saying I don't like the Goblin design more than once ain't trolling. I didn't call nobody names, or use bad language. I broke no rules. You peeps repeat your own opinions a bazillion times every week here. But that's a-ok ain't it. Oh yeah.

Yup only a devious mind would say that was trolling.

Again why are you bringing up other characters? We are talking about GG here. GG, in the comics looks twisted and scary and so he does in this movie.

You are right too. All these traits can be applied to a lot of characters. The question is, why do you keep bringing this up? I don't see how what i'm saying is vague. GG in this movie looks twisted and scary to me. Yes this can be applied to other characters, but that doesn't make this characteristic vague.

I was simply providing examples. The characters in this movie are drawn by characters in the comics who are also inspired by something else. There is nothing wrong with that. At the end of the day, they are all defined by their actions.

I'm going to ignore the fact that you responded to me in a snarky manner that felt very inappropriate. I guess i should respect you now.

As i said, in many people's minds, the glider is part of the goblin's look. Yes he might have fought Spider-man without his glider, but whenever someone brings up GG this picture comes mind.

I said two posts ago that i can understand that fact that you may not like something. I just recommended to you get past that so that you can enjoy the rest of the movie.

Personally i hate this Goblin design, maybe hate is too strong word... but it's not i am not used from Sony. For some reason Sony always find the way to piss me off when it comes portraying iconic villains and Spider-man arch-enemy.

For me exist one and truly Goblin design, never used, because some fool working in Sony decided it's better have what we have today then this.

The problem with Fudgie is that he "doesn't believe" other people's opinions about Goblin actually looking like a Goblin.

I suggest we drop this okay? This leads nowhere. Everyone is obviously entitled to his own opinion and that's not going to change.

I say, peace.

Because you were using vague stuff like that to say DeHaan looked like a Goblin.

I don't see how what i'm saying is vague. GG in this movie looks twisted and scary to me. Yes this can be applied to other characters, but that doesn't make this characteristic vague.

Wasn't really talking about it looking twisted and scary to you pal. I meant you saying that it looks like a Goblin because of that is too vague. You gotta get specific with a collection of things on a character that make the character look like who they are.

Stuff like pointy ears, sharp teeth, and looking freaky, well you can say that about lots of characters.

I was simply providing examples. The characters in this movie are drawn by characters in the comics who are also inspired by something else. There is nothing wrong with that. At the end of the day, they are all defined by their actions.

Ah come on you're a comic book nerd right. You know it's more than just the actions that defines these characters. They come from comics so they are visual with distinct looks.

You brought up Joker in TDK. He has all the classic Joker style there. Green hair, white face, red lips, purple suit and gloves. That combo is so unique to Joker. It's his look.

Split them apart, and only name one or two and that's vague city.

I'm going to ignore the fact that you responded to me in a snarky manner that felt very inappropriate. I guess i should respect you now.

I wasn't snarky to you. I was being friendly to you even though you and the others have been rude to me and say I am trolling. You guys move in packs and attack any poor soul like moi who dares say anything this movie is doing is bad in any way.

For sure the glider is a classic prop that everyone associates with Gobby, but it's still just a prop. It not his costume or look. That's where I'm coming from. His costume and look. Not the pumpkin bombs, or glider that he uses.

I said two posts ago that i can understand that fact that you may not like something. I just recommended to you get past that so that you can enjoy the rest of the movie.

What makes you think I won't though? I mean I didn't even mention the rest of the movie. I'm in a Gobby thread talking about Gobby's look.

Here's a fact for you; Hype forum rules don't say what I did is trolling. I know C. lee said we can say our opinions no matter how negative they are as much as we want to as long as it's all civil and polite.

You're newish so maybe you missed that.

The problem with Fudgie is that he "doesn't believe" other people's opinions about Goblin actually looking like a Goblin.

Why is that a problem for you? Ain't I entitled to choose what opinions I think are believable and which are not?

Okay, you win. The Goblin sucks.

Apparently we've been treating you like crap and i apologize on behalf of those that insulted you.

Now see there's no need for that now. You like Gobby's look. Aces for you. You don't have to agree with moi. Why you guys always get so defensive.

Dunno if that apology is just more sarcasm.

I 2'nd Picards motion here...
Damn, this is getting so old. Just shut up, be quiet, and pray that we'll get an amazing movie, instead of keep on *****ing over this stuff.

I love the "classic" Green Goblin look, but sometimes you have to change things for a movie. What works in the comics doesn't necessarily work in a live action movie. I think with the Raimi movies, they tried going for something closer to the original, a mask/suit resembling a Goblin, and it came off like a weird-looking Power Rangers villain. Sure, they could have incorporated the purple elements and made the suit lighter by using a fabric, but I feel like the first movie gave a good indication that a "true to the comics" Goblin-suit would be almost impossible to pull off, especially considering Green Goblin is probably the closest to an arch enemy that Spidey has. So the decision to make this new Goblin different was a good decision, and I applaud them for doing so. Even if you miss the mask or the "classic" look, you have to agree that the new version looks more menacing than the Raimi one at least.

I think Rhino and Electro are two other good examples. If you had just taken their classic and original costumes, it could have been a disaster. A bulky guy running around in a rhino-costume, or the colorful costume of Electro. With this said, I think the creators of the movie would have a really nice chance of an easter egg or hinting to the comics. Imagine a short scene when Electro has become Electro, he's getting help from Harry, and they show the classic suit, with Electro being all "No way I'm wearing that". (sort of like in The Wolverine, the scene when he sees the classic suit in the case)

As long as the visual changes of the character doesn't make them totally different, I'm all for it, if it makes sense. If you take the new picture of Goblin, I feel pretty confident that most Spidey-fans would instantly recognize that it is indeed the Goblin. Same with Electro, who also has another look in the movie, but you can tell it's him. I would say Rhino is probably the one who has gone through the biggest changes (for obvious reasons), but you can still identify the key aspects like the horn.

You know something fellas. There might just come a time (as horrific as that thought is) where you actually see this movie, and it'll prove to be the biggest ****ing disappointment, EVER! And IF that time should ever come, only then would you all have wished you hadn't spend so much time *****ing over Goblin-Jr not looking how you envisioned him. Suddenly that won't matter, cause the actual movie sucked! But you forgot to ever let that thought sink in. You spend all your time whining over suit-design and so on. And only when you've seen that (theoretically possible) bad movie, sadly enough you'll first then see the bigger picture - Which is, that stuff like character design don't mean **** in the very end! All people should worry about at this point is whether or not the movie will actually be amazing - or amazingly_bad!? I'll keep on saying this until the release.

You guys are truly spending way too much time tearing things down that just aren't that important. If the movie works - everything works. Try to step out of your fanbased-circle here. Only fans complain over this kind of stuff. Your general movie-going audience won't care for suit design and so on. They only care if they'll get a good movie - as should we. They're already seeing the "bigger picture", clearly. They're ahead of the fans in that regard. Couldn't we consider moving on up from here??? Otherwise you might just end up feeling stupid about it. It'll be like - Wow. I can't believe there once was a time where my biggest complaint was the design of Harry's Goblin! If I could only rewind, all I'd wish for would simply have been to receive a GOOD movie here. **** the design!

What I personally wish for is not just an amazing superhero film. More than that, I wish to receive a generally AMAZING and overall emotionally epic film here! Just a good film, damn it! It's not too much to ask for (otherwise, why bother?) TDK is aiming high (believe me. I KNOW that - and it won't happen either). But I really wish once again to be allowed to feel inside of me, something along those same lines of what I felt after seeing Nolans 2008 TDK for the first time! It's about ****ing time... I feel all too many superhero flicks have become rather generic and quite Uninteresting. I actually (for the first time ever) am beginning to feel that the buzz is whining down for me. It feels like nothing new is being brought to the table, for the most part. Last years MOS almost killed everything for me. I can't handle another major disappointment like that. Spider-Man is what keeps me going here. I pray that this very sequel will breath new and exciting life in to the genre, for ME!

Funny you mentioned Electro's classic costume. There is an easter egg about that.

Don't tell people to shut up, Naite. Who do you think you are? If anyone wants to repeat their opinions they can, no matter how negative. It's no different to the repetitive positive opinions always said 100x regularly.

If you have an issue with that then we can get a moderator in here to tell you that's how it is here, and anyone else who has this problem. Getting fed up of seeing over enthusiastic TASM fans trying to silence critical posters just because they don't like their opinions.

Last years MOS almost killed everything for me. I can't handle another major disappointment like that.

Funny that you have an MOS avatar though.

While I agree that Naite shouldn't have told them to "shut up," he does make a good point. This stupid argument really is getting out of hand and everyone is going in circles.

Fudgie doesn't seem to respect opinions of those who feel DeHaan looks like a Goblin, so he isn't exactly being fair either. I thought we agreed to end this anyway?

I'll keep saying - Get over it. Nothing is gonna change in this department. Stop wasting your breath.
And yes, I have a MOS avatar. My love for the character goes that deep. But the film still sucked.

I don't even know why your MOS avatar is relevant to the discussion.
