Darkman Appreciation Thread

:wow:I want...

Watched this the other day, I still love the "Peyton the dancin' freak!" scene, a good dose of madness is always good.

It was previously released on Blu-ray but I don't think the transfer was all that great. Thankfully I didn't buy that version. I love Scream Factory's cover art for all these movies they're releasing. They don't have it up on Amazon yet, but on Blu-ray.com they have the pic.

I kind of wish raimi would give the evil dead a rest and make another darkman movie. It would be easy to sell. "hey, the guy who made those enormously successful spiderman movies wants to make another superhero movie." it would be easy to market as well, especially if they got Neeson back.

Sam Raimi still hasn't made Evil Dead 4 :cmad:

I think the world needs another darkman more than it needs an evil dead 4 :o

Just wanted to let any other fans of this film know that Scream Factory is releasing a new Blu-ray.

I know, i can't wait for the new blu-ray to Darkman, i'm glad i didn't buy the first blu-ray as i heard it was bad but i am gonna upgrade my bareboned DVD to get this and should please fans like myself.

Awesome movie! loved it since i saw it in theaters when i was a kid 3 times and had the Marvel comics plus a poster and played the crappy NES game. One of my fave Raimi movies no doubt and an original superhero movie that fuses Batman, Phantom of the Opera, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and The Shadow all into one. Neeson was fantastic in the role.

He's working on it, or so he says.

Darkman was such a great movie. I love the hell out of it.

It's been years since I have seen Darkman, but I so remember loving the overall vibe of the film, and I think the ads that were put on the backs of almost every comic book at that time is just so badass. I will have to watch it soon to see if it matches my memory of it.

I will say that if Raimi really really wants to do a follow up film, I say let him try. If anything it would be amazing to see what he could do with the digital tech available today.

It's funny but at the time I thought that Raimi would have been better suited to doing a big budget PUNISHER movie or DAREDEVIL.

And Liam shouldn't be too opposed to doing it. I mean, he did do Unknown.

I'd kill to have seen his Batman Forever.

Was that a thing? Was he actually offered that? Because if it is true...:wow:

Zod... CBM movie history would be so different. I think Raimi running with the overall template of what Burton established in his Bat Films... Holy Cow, Batman! That's all I gotta say bout dat.

He wasn't offered by WB, he offered his services to them. But Joel was hotter back then, so...

Yeah, I think Raimi and Burton share some of the same DNA, the tonal change would've been less jarring, while bringing the relative light-heartedness WB wanted.

And, yes, the CBM scenery would've probably been pretty different.

Some of the imagery in darkman tells me that he would have made an awesome batman movie. Just than one scene of darkman poised between the gargoyles in the rain...mah gawd.

Darkman is one of my favorite movies. The carnival part is so hilarious...

"Take the ****ing elephant":hehe:

When Liam Neeson asks for his pink elephant, you f***ing give it to him.

When Liam Neeson asks for his pink elephant, you f***ing give it to him.

Ra's Al Ghul "To become a member of the league of shadows, you have to take this pink elephant"

Bruce Wayne: "No thanks, I prefer brown teddy bears. I'm conservative that way."

Ra's Al Ghul (puts the elephant in His arms): "You have to do what's necessary. Take it, Bruce. Take the ****ing elephant!"

Bruce Wayne (drops the elephant in disgust and draws his sword) :ninja:

This is what Sam Raimi made because he couldn't get the rights to do a Spidey film if I'm correct.

The new blu-ray comes out Februrary and should be an improvement as Scream Factory knows how to please horror, sci-fi and cult film fans.

And who thinks this movie predates the Nolan Batman movies in terms of realistic dark superhero films?

I really cannot wait to checkout this Scream Factory blu-ray transfer,I've heard very good things and they never disappoint with their transfers.

I have a soft spot for this movie. I think it's kind of terrible, but also kind of awesome. I kind of wish they do another sequel or (maybe) a remake. A superhero who can look like anyone, can't feel pain and will stick a guys head out of a manhole in the middle of heavy traffic is pretty f***ing awesome.

The Return of Durant is actually my favorite in the whole series.
