Blink won't be In apocalypse. This is film set In 1980's. close to 40 years before the 2023 scenes of DOFP.
I think 700 million isn't likely now. A 107 million 4 day weekend says It will do 220 to 230
million domesticly less than the unadjusted take for the last stand. We are problly looking at 300 to 400 Million overseas with at best would bring it to 630 Million worldwide.
Fox may not want to spend another 200 Million on Apocalypse so I won't be shocked if it's budget Is closer to the 160 million Fox spent on First Class.
What other allegories should be explored in your opinion?
People better boot for DOFP against maleficent If they want DOFP to make money.
Still Maleficent Is projected to make totally 120 to 150 million domesticly.Few think EOT
Is going to do much.
220 to 230 million domesticly Is If the drop for DOFP Is 68 ppercent similar to X2.If drop Is larger It won't even make that Domesticly.
X-Men films will never hit 300 Million domesticly. It's very depressing last stand will remain
highest domestic for series.
Even a well made well reviewed film which wipes out the Trilogy and wolverine films still can't reach what Last Stand did.
Foreign box office will tell us If the budget Is cut for Apocalypse.
Don't need allegories to tell a good story.
X-Men: Days of Future Past is estimated to have a $90M three-day and a $108M to $110M four-day as numbers roll in this morning with two more movie going days to go this Memorial Day weekend so Sunday’s attendance is going to be better than usual on this long weekend. Fox’s X-Men dropped, as reported last night, about 18%. This estimate puts it in line for a $90M three-day and a $108M to $110M four-day to become the second biggest three-day opener for the franchise, behind X-Men: The Last Stand and the fifth biggest opener for a Memorial Day weekend, knocking out Hangover 2 (see chart as you clickthrough). With a strong international showing (those numbers will be along shortly), it’s well over $200M already which is good because its budget was around $225M. Also, they had a large talent participation pool, but no first-dollar gross deals as I understand it, but similar talent deals to most large budget pics. Anyway, in 64 markets last weekend, Godzilla marked the biggest international opener of 2014 with $103.4M. X-Men is in 36 more countries so I should hope so.
Yet most of the best stories are some kind of allegory.
Coincidence?
Well this means DOFP will have lower 3 day weekend than Captain America,Spider-man,and'Godzilla if 90 million projection holds.
It defently will be lower domesticly than Last Stand.
400 million overseas Is still possibly but the odds of it over 700 million worldwide are very slim.
.You talking the comics? I wouldn't say most are. (i'm talking allegories for civil rights/bigotry/racism). Age of Apocalypse or Dark Phoenix Saga don't really focus on comparisons with real world racism and mutants.
My point is, the main plot point doesn't have to focus on all this stuff. It's always going to be there in some way. But i want to see an X-Men film break free of this for once.

It seems like it doesn't take much for you to get pessemistic.
I am going by the facts of the deadline projections.
DOFP Is looking at 90 million for 3 days and 107-110 for 4 days.
And deadline also Is saying fox lowballed the budget and it was actully 225
Million.
I wouldn't worry about all that. Next weekend will be the big thing, seeing how much it drops.
When X3 dropped by 66.9 per cent, people said it was because of bad word of mouth. But how much was just due to the fact that it was the weekend after Memorial Day weekend?
Next weekend we will see the effect of Maleficent, Godzilla, and good reviews/word. It'll be interesting.
Mutants swamp “Godzilla” in U.S. as Adam Sandler-Drew Barrymore comedy “Blended” tanks
“X-Men: Days of Future Past” steamrolled the competition on its way to an estimated $90.7 million three-day Memorial Day weekend haul in North America, and added a huge $171 million from overseas for a whopping $261 million first weekend globally.
Fox's Marvel Comics-based mutant mashup still has Monday to go, and should wind up with around $107 million domestically over the long holiday weekend. Last week's No. 1 movie, “Godzilla,” was running a distant second with an estimated $30.5 million. And the weekend's only other wide opener, the Adam Sandler-Drew Barrymore comedy “Blended,” failed to ignite and was battling “Neighbors” for third place with around $14 million for the three days.
Produced for $200 million, “Days of Future Past” rolled out in 100 foreign countries this weekend, including China, the U.K., Russia and Mexico.
It's the fifth time in the last eight weeks that a Marvel Comics-based movie has topped the U.S. box office, coming on the heels of “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” which had a three-week run at No. 1 in April, and “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” which kicked off summer on top earlier this month. Neither the Marvel superheroes nor “Godzilla” have been able to crack the $100 million mark with their openings however, though all have topped $90 million.

The domestic opening for “Days of Future Past” is the second-best in the 14-year-old franchise's history, behind only “X-Men: The Last Stand,” which brought in $102 million over three days on Memorial Day weekend in 2006, and $122.8 million over the four days.
Fox marketers made the most of the time-travel plot of “Days of Future Past,” highlighting the combined casts of the original “X-Men” trilogy with the 2011 reboot “X-Men: First Class.” Hugh Jackman and Jennifer Lawrence top an ensemble that includes James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Halle Berry, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Nicholas Hoult, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen and Peter Dinklage. Simon Kinberg, Jane Goldman and Matthew Vaughn are the writers.
The critics were sold (91 percent positive on Rotten Tomatoes) and audiences have been too, awarding it an “A” CinemaScore. Director Bryan Singer largely skipped the promotional push on the film, and concerns that his legal problems would hurt the film commercially evaporated.
Lauren Shuler Donner and Hutch Parker produced “Days of Future Past,” along with Kinberg and Singer, who directed the first two “X-Men” movies.

To hit around 230 Million Domesticly It needs to hold up like X2 did.If it holds up like X-Men,Last stand,or FC It might only gross 210 domesticly even lower than
the unadjusted X2 total. If it drops less than past X-Men films great but this
weekend estimates aren't setting a record for series. Yeah it's better than
FC,X-Men,and wolverine films. It will have larger opening than X2 but it's not
beating the Last Stand's record.
