At my theatre we have a lot of people seeing DOFP.There was line outside before theatre opened.Good amount in both 2-d and 3-d screens.

I was kinda sad the midnight gross is not higher than TASM2/Cap 2 midnight number.

But learning that it didn't have 8PM showing unlike TASM2/Cap 2 made me feel better!

Box Office Guru on twitter is saying $37 Friday, over $90 3 day, and possibly $110 4-day.

Exhibitor Relations expects the film will earn $100 million over the weekend and $120 million if you take the holiday into account. The biggest opening so far for an X-Men movie was 2006′s X-Men: The Last Stand which opened to $102 million.

In few hours when the WC wraps the number should be a bit more concrete.

You're dreaming.
2 full weeks, not just weekends? Possible. Especially the international number. Also if it does hit $120m for the 4 day, it could be in range domestically.

So glad the film is doing big numbers. I just got back and loved it.

This is the theater we saw it in...

As we left there was a line that stretched around EACH side of the theater, another line in the middle (where the box-office is located), plus the lines waiting inside. The only other time I've seen this theater as packed was with Avengers where I was shoulder to shoulder with people trying to get to the parking lot.

I meant full weeks. Still highly unlikely, especially the DOM one. Cap2 was only at $174M DOM after it's 1st 2 weeks. You think DoFP is gonna out pace TWS by that much whilst facing far more competition from Godzilla at it's back and Maleficent at it's front? I give it a 20% chance to pass $200M DOM in only 2 weeks.

Just for arguments sake, if it can open to $125m then yea it has a shot at making $195M in two full weeks based on how FF6 performed. Doesn't take into account competition but still possible.

@NikkiFinke

Early Friday Box Office: Holdover 'Godzilla' (WB/Leg-3952) looking $9.5M for $34.5M FSS (-63%) and $43.5M four-day Mem Wkd. Cume $160M.
Still early numbers, but looks like Godzilla is dropping hard. I could see Maleficent going either way, but I do think X-Men has a reasonable shot at being #1 again next weekend.

SMASH!

You're dreaming.

What if he's not and what he said happened?

Not surprising.

SMASH!

Not surprising.
Those aren't exactly "SMASH" numbers. We aren't going to see "SMASH" opening weekend numbers until November this year most likely. Mockingjay could, probably will.

Who cares about that? It did well, of course its a smash hit. It doesn't have to break every record. Well to me at least.

@NikkiFinke: Friday Box Office: #1 'X-Men: Days Of Future Past' (Fox-3996) opening $36M (incl $8.1M Thurs) with $110M four-day Mem Wkd. Cost $200M.

I think it will do at least as good as X3 opening weekend, probably more because of the 3D and I think the word of mouth and critical acclaim will give the film some longevity.

It doesn't have to break records. But smashing in this day and age is not $120m over 4 days. It just isn't and that is the best case scenario. Unless it has strong legs, that won't get it to $300m domestically. It is very good numbers, but it isn't a Juggernaut.

Damn was kinda hoping it's going the higher end of their $35-39 Mil Prediction.
