I don't take your post seriously because you wanna gay up Wonder Woman and thats ****ing ******. Yeah you could appeal to the women artist but still not make it gay so you know straight dude like me can read. Dude get the hell out past. It's not 1940, Its 2011.
Seriously that whole I know her history,40 years, ********, I dont care, your opinion and I hate to say this because I shouldn't is stupid. You really wanna gay up Wonder Woman. Seriously :wall::wall::wall::wall::wall:

The irony here is just beautiful.

I don't think he meant "Gay her Up" or whatever that means. He means try to appeal to that community. And you can do that, by taking a look at some of Marston's ideas, and working with modernizing it. Maybe go for a more Alternative lifestyle sorta thing. The Bondage types, the transsexuals, and yes, the Gays and Lesbians. She can still date Steve Trevor, and be the champion of the outcasts and the alienated or whatever. I'd give it a read. :o

That's exactly what I mean, yep.

I hope someone notes the addition to my last post.

Bondage and S&M, all that crap should not be in Superhero comics and it won't sell. That would hurt WW more than help. Like I said that might have worked and been acceppted in the 40's but that **** won't fly today. Now you could appeal to the lbgt community but they don't make up that great of comic book audiences and I know you would alienate the male readers who read Wonder Woman.

I do read your posts, and you clearly care more about bull**** like history and sales than the characters themselves.

Like Anubis, I greatly enjoyed Rucka's WW, she was one of the best and most iconic portrayals of the character ever, and I don't give two ****s how little it sold. So you can take your FACTS and your history and your sales figures and shove it, because that's not what I give anything close to the D in "Damn" about. I care about the characters and I care about seeing them portrayed well.

For Wonder Woman, that's being a warrior for peace.

For Wolverine, that's being a heroic figure who fights his ruthless beast within.

For Superman, that's being a god-like man trying to be a man for himself and a god for everyone else.

For Batman, that's being a dedicated, no-nonsense person who uses his collected skills and wits to do a job normally reserved for superbeings (and can smile and have a friend or two like a normal person).

Just because something sells, doesn't make it good. And I would rather Wonder Woman crash and burn for eternity than have a bastardized version sell like hotcakes.

EDIT: Also, I regret now using the term "gay up", as TheIncredibleSk has made me look dumb by his interpretation of it. I did NOT mean it as "make it gay", I meant it as "pander to the gay community in a cheap attempt to boost sales" like some sort of rainbow die cut holographic cover. I personally don't care if something is "made gay" as long as it's not coming from a exploitative idea.

Well, I never meant it as an exploitative idea. I just think that audience is the ideal target audience for Wonder Woman.

As for the rest, I don't really expect Wonder Woman to ever be a successful character again. I don't see how it can be done when they are determined to market her to people (comics fans) that have demonstrated no interest or support for her. I certainly don't see this whole 90's Image comics redux bit as her path to success (or DC's path either).

I doubt the male readers who still read (quality) Wonder Woman comics would be exiled due to that if the book is of quality. The thing is, DC has been trying all these gimmicks and they don't work because (1) they're gimmicks, and (2) they're executed poorly.

Your problem Kuro is that you dismiss other peoples opinions on the stuff you like, while not understand that the stuff you likes s**t does in fact stink. I mean come on, you gotta know that there are some draw backs to the Golden/Silver age stuff. Not seeing that, then claiming that everything not that is s**t only puts people off to what you're trying to say. I love the story telling style of today, but it's still filled with too much grimdark, killing for the sake of killing, gimmicky boos**t. And I know that there is room for improvement. All we ask is that you meet us half way.

Im glad Brian Azzarello will be on the new relaunch. Bring her down to earth, streamlined her mythology, and I wanna see the WAAAARRIOR side of more like in the Wonder Woman movie. Gritty and dark, and make Wonder Woman badass.

Wonder Woman isn't a gritty or dark character.

Also, gritty and dark seems to equate with crap and suck, so no.

Oh, I absolutely know much of the Golden and Silver Age comics are dated. Like what Grant Morrison does, I want up to date takes on those ideas. I want the original stuff used as a base. And there were poor comics then, just as there are poor comics now. I'm not saying I want Wonder Woman to be like a bunch of HG Peter swipes, of course not. But I would like it to be weird and different and a little wacky and fun and it does need to be openly sexual because that's what the original did. But no, I don't want modern comics to be just like the old comics. If they did that, I'd just as soon continue to read the old comics since they were the real thing.

I'm certainly all for meeting modern fans halfway. Heck, that's what Grant has been doing. Johns tries to do it, but he's no Grant Morrison or even close.

I think you need to evoke that better then.

I still disagree with you on Superman though.

I have faith in Brian Azzarello. Most of this stories dark and gritty and most are awesome.

When they involve characters that that fits with.

Lex Luthor Man of Steel is one of my all time favorite stories. But that's because it's about Lex Luthor. Not Superman.

You gotta see how this can go horribly wrong.

When I first watched the Wonder Woman dvd, I needed, no I wanted a writer to be dark and violent like that movie because thats the perfect Wonder Woman to me. I thought Gail Simone could do it, since she wrote the film, but she didn't go far enough. I have faith in Brian Azzarello cause I know he can write this character like she was in the Wonder Woman dvd, a take no **** from no man to Batman to Superman. Thats Wondy I want. And I think thats Wondy I'll get.

grimdark wonder woman would be a travesty. azzarello is a great writer, i love his gritty stories. but those stories arent for every character. certainly not wonder woman. she is light, she is positive, she is a warrior, but an ambassador for peace.

I don't think the Wonder Woman movie was dark.

I also don't think most people know what "dark" means either.

It had humor and some light points but that film was very violent and it was dark. Implied, no as suggested as you can get rape anyone?

Because WW never did a story about rape and managed not to get all grimdark in the process. :o

I'll just take a wait and see approach.

Violence doesn't equal dark, and rape really shouldn't be in any sort of superhero story, but I don't recall what you're speaking about.

Hippolyta was raped by Ares and they had a son at the beginning of the film.
