Deadpool DEADPOOL: User Review Thread (SPOILER FREE)

Honestly the flaws that this movie does have just completely disappeared. I loved every second of it and I have not seen an audience laugh this much before. If you haven't seen this already, go watch it!

Having a good crowd certainly helps with the enjoyment, though the movie is that funny I don't think many had a choice about laughing.

I think I may have loved it even more the second time than the first, was a bigger and better crowd which helped but there is just so much to this movie to like, it has a bit of everything done well but mixed together in unique and quirky way. Will go down as one of all time favourite origin stories. I though maybe hype got the better of me the first time but nope this is my jam. 9.2/10.

Great, going for my 2nd viewing on Tuesday and was worried it wouldn't stand up, now I am not, thanks.

Yeah we had a really good crowd. Some of the in-jokes were missed by people, but they actually seemed to catch a lot of them. We had some parents drag their kids out about ten minutes in though. :D

Yeah a good crowd helps and I'm surprised how much a UK audience is picking up on jokes in this, there are some references that I'm sure only an American audience would get but not many it seems.

The thing that struck me this time round was how much this film reminds me of Raimi's first Spirderman film...............on acid. It has as much heart as it does laughs and really works hard to make you understand why Wade decides to become DP, they could have skimped on that aspect but it would have lost something had they done so.

It's interesting that there has been so much controversy, debate and hand-wringing editorials about how DEADPOOL is most definitely not a kids' film and they shouldn't be allowed to see it... because 10 year old me would have LOVED this film, it would have been my favourite movie. It's outrageous cartoon violence and potty mouth, without too much in the way of legitimately upsetting content, making it a perfect candidate for "something kids watch to feel grown up" fare. And the experience of watching DEADPOOL had me grinning from ear to ear like a big kid.

I've never been the biggest fan of Deadpool in the comics. I've found him fitfully amusing when appearing as a guest star in someone else's book, but his recent glut of appearances bordered on overkill for me and he was never a character I felt compelled to follow. But go to any convention floor and see the legions of spandex-clad devotees cosplaying as him, and you'll appreciate what a loyal fan following Deadpool has. And that fandom is sure to be immensely pleased with this film. Everything about the character is NAILED: the costume looks like it leapt off the comic page, the voice and personality are bang on, and the 4th wall breaking hijinks are present and correct, with rapid-fire in-jokes for both the X-MEN franchise and superhero films in general.

But even setting aside its faithfulness to the source material - and on that front it probably surpasses any previous Fox superhero film - on its own merits DEADPOOL is a masterclass in action comedy. By this, I mean it manages to have both genuinely thrilling action and consistent laugh-out-loud comedy. And I mean proper hilarious, "even without the action it could be an early comedy of the year contender" funny.

The film launches us right into the action, and for the first 45 minutes or so it is a pure joy, soaring along with an inventive, unusual structure. Admittedly, it loses a step in its second half, where it settles into more conventional damsel-in-distress "action with added wisecracks" structure, but by that point the film has accumulated enough good will to forgive it for most sins, especially when the movie is too short to overstay any welcome and become dull.

The supporting cast are entertaining (save for a lacklustre villain), but this is far and away Ryan Reynolds' show. As Wade Wilson, mercenary turned disfigured mutant killing machine, he is clearly having an absolute ball, fitting the role to his persona hand-in-glove like Robert Downey Jr playing Tony Stark. He is having a ball, and from what I've heard this has been something of a passion project for him. You can tell. Deadpool feels like the role Ryan Reynolds was born to play.

I had an absolute blast watching DEADPOOL. It is the best Deadpool story that I have experienced in any medium, and may have been just enough to finally make me a fan of the character. 2016's year in superhero cinema is off to a rip-roaring start!

Honestly I expected it to be better they gave away most of the movies best scenes in the trailers I'd give it 6 out of 10 for right now.

Overall it was a fun film. I laughed so hard and nearly every joke landed for me. Really well done film. Villain was weak but it didn't detract away from the film. Colossus and the chick were great. A few flaws there and there but the film was so self aware of what it was that they pulled it off. Will see it again tomorrow.

This reminded me of Spawn, The Mask, Spider-Man, and Guardians of the Galaxy all rolled into one with a hard R-rating.

Deadpool was ****ing awesome!  I've never laughed so much in my life! 10/10.

I'm sure the movie has flaws. But any movie that makes me laugh out load for nearly 1-2 minutes, is a 10/10 movie to me.

Saw it today It was pretty much on par with Antman for me. A well made Fun action packed comedy with yet another underwhelming villain. To be honest i dont really think the 2 xmen characters were needed for the film, they didnt really add anything to the film for me. I didn't think it was incredible as what alot of people thought it was but it was still a good film so 7/10 for me.

Didn't love it like most seem to but I did like it. It was very Deadpool and I can't hate on that at all. 6.5/10

Very excited for who's planned for the sequel (crosses fingers for Keira Knightly, lol).

Very solid, I enjoyed it quite a bit. The characters were all enjoyable for the most part, even the taxi driver who I ended up really liking. My one hangup character-wise was Colossus. The CG was really rough on him and the voice with the broken English felt a little too over the top, even for this movie. Ajax was a decent villain. Nothing particularly noteworthy, but they did a good job making him easy to hate and the actor did nicely in the role. Deadpool himself and Negasonic were my favourites of them. It was a relief to see they didn't make Carano try and act. :o

Apart from Colossus, my biggest issue were some jokes that I feel just didn't hit. Mostly some of the more vulgar stuff. But for the most part, the humour worked, especially the meta stuff.

Overall, I enjoyed it. It's not one I'm dying to see again, but I'd see it again if someone asked and will probably end up getting the blu-ray. I'd give it a 7.5 or so.

Just saw it and I loved it, haven't laughed and been entertained so hard since the first avengers movie. 9 out of 10

F***ing brilliant. It might not be the best superhero movie (though it's definitely up there, at least it can be ranked in the top 3 Fox superhero movies at least), but it's easily the funniest. I can't remember the last time I laughed this hard at a movie.

I give it 3.5 chimis in the CBM genre.

This film never takes itself seriously and knows how to have fun. Initially it's a little bit choppy in the delivery of its humor, but i think part of that has to do with getting used to it. I mean we've dealt mostly with light fare since the rise of CBM's.

The visual FX were top notch. The jokes (especially about the X-Men), liners, and pop culture references were plentiful. I seriously could not stop laughing throughout the 2nd and 3rd acts. I kept reading that the romance between Wade and Vanessa was well done and I must say - it truly was. It's a very a non-standard story given that one is a mercenary and the other a hooker, but the two are so charming together. It gave of vibe we haven't seen from most of the other hollow CBM relationships over the years.

Can't wait for the second installment. My only complaint was some of the excess name-calling when DP would be ranting about someone or to them. Just thought it was unnecessary and distracting from the otherwise hilariousness throughout the film. I also thought Colossus's upper body was oddly shaped. The inclusion of he and Negasonic was a bit hamfisted - luckily DP's self-referential humor about it made it palatable.

frukken grate. the other 5 comic book movies this year have a lot to live up to.

9.5/10

Watched it for the 2nd time. I'm bringing it up to 8/10 from 7.5. Liked it better the second time around.

I liked it overall. There were plenty of jokes that did nothing for me, but my audience really loved.

Just dragged out a bit too much in the middle there after the first interaction with Collosus. Where was the movie going? Never seemed to find itself. I get that it's Valentine's Day weekend but it was treading Rom Com territory. Most of the jokes worked but yeah, the villains were terrible. This was Ryan Renolds at his best. That's the only saving grace of the film. Weasel and the Blind lady were also solid. 7/10.

Thinking about the structure, it's all genius. It's like Deadpool has literally highjacked the movie production. The way it fast forwards past the flash backs and "catches up".

I also really enjoyed the middle section. I could watch a gross out sitcom of Deadpool and Blind Al at home for sure lol. It also helps humanise Deadpool... even though he isn't a very nice human! The scene where he tells Al to leave because he wants to have a wank with his baby hand had the whole audience in bits. And this is England, cinemas are usually quiet over here.

We had no kid dragging, but people of all ages and both men and women all loved it.

Plenty of the jokes are ones anyone who is a movie fan would get, plenty of people in the UK are, and the one about David Beckham's voice got a big laugh also. The humour was just that good in this movie.

I honestly haven't been in a crowd that laughed this much at a movie for years, probably since the first Ted movie. Us UK'ers do love our crude humour though.

I loved this movie. If you are a Deadpool fan, then I can't see why you wouldn't enjoy the film.

In terms of "comic book accuracy" and "staying true to the spirit of the character," then I think Deadpool is one of the most accurate CBMs ever.

First Class, you have been de-throned. Deadpool is my favorite X-Men movie now. :)

Managed to sneak out to see this last night. Maybe my expectations were too high based on all the buzz, but I thought it was good but not amazingly great. The violence and humor reminded me a lot of Kick-Ass. The action pieces were great but unfortunately there were no surprises since the two big action sequences were in the previews, and the highway sequence was in the test reel.

That being said I still liked it. Colossus was great, felt like a real character versus a special effect in the other movies. Even Negasonic had better development than Blink or Warpath.

The relationship between Wade and Vanessa also felt real. It was nice to see Vanessa be more than a helpless victim in the end.

Some of the humor was hit or miss. The inside jokes were nice but then seeing him with the lotion and unicorn were kind of groan worthy.

Saw Dead Pool yesterday afternoon, and didn't stop laughing the whole way through! LOVED it
