Deleted Scenes?!! [Spoilers!]

No, I know John Jameson was a minor character in the comics. What I'm wondering is how reusing him for SM3--after his subplot had already been concluded in 2--was a wink to the comics. With all of the characters already in SM3, using John Jameson again would have just been a pointless cameo.
agreed, the only scene that would have been good for John would have been the space shuttle crashing down with the symbiote, which they never used, so having him in SM3 would of been pointless

Not if they would have used him to introduce The Symbiote in a much better way. Take away the crane scene, and the terrible scene of the Symbiote landing practically next to Peter and have John Jamesons Space Shuttle crashland in NY instead, with Spidey rescuing a lot of people in the process and the Symbiote hitching a ride.
you have to kind of think in reality if a Space shuttle crashed it would be blown to shreds because of how fast it's coming down, so that's why they went with something easier imo

While that would have basically just rehased TAS's origin, it would have been a lot better and not as coincidental. And if you really needed Gwen to be in trouble in the movie, you could have just thrown her in the mix as well.

I figured the budget of the movie was big enough that cutting something like that was the easiest solution. But the way the handled the arrival of the symbiote came off as lazy in the actual movie....Now, I'm sure that what Raimi was really going to do with John Jameson was something having to do with MJ, with him berating Peter for "stealing" MJ from him and Peter kicking the crap out of him once he gets the black suit. Just a random thought. :woot:

Raimi did do that by putting in Harry:woot:

I got the feeling that a few scenes were deleted from this movie or scrapped before it when to camera.

-Adrian Lester was cast as a research scientist who tries to cure the villain and i believe theres a glimpse of him in the First Look.
-They shot scenes in Pasadena which i assume is supposed to be Gwen's house
-Many different eyewitness reports reports said that Chris Tucker was spotted on set in Los Angeles
-Wasn't Sandman's daughter supposed to be at the construction site?

his daughter at the site was an alternate ending, stil have no clue if the chris tucker spotting was true, gwens house looks like it was filmed, and the scene with adrian lester was also shot as a scene of sandman grabbing him was actually filmed

stil have no clue if the chris tucker spotting was true
It was true, as the guy said it was either Chris Tucker or someone resembling Chris Tucker as a cab driver being attacked by a "black spider-man" which most likely was Venom.

Yes, there was mention of a taxi driver being murdered in the SM3 novel.

I've been looking at a few of the last pages of this thread & I can agree--
the female reporter was very, very bad. Far worse than the dancing.
Newscaster was also terrible. JJJ & the kid not so bad if they hadn't wasted time with the reporters, but too much seeing as they did
I wonder if these were reshoots or filler to close gaps left by deleting Sandman's family.

Really waiting for part 4 announcemnt so we can get a 3.1 version.
Probably only a three year wait!!!

^^Me too.
Intresting story this....Giles turned up for shooting on day 16 of the Spidey 3 shoot, and was playing pool with JK Simmons and another extra. Giles was lining up a shot, didn't realise Sam Raimi was behind him, pulled back his queue, and whacked Raimi in the balls. A few hours later Giles found out he was 'no longer required' for the movie.

What??! Is this for real? Why so serious Sam?:(

It didn't even have to be all so ellaborate.John could have brought back the symbiote on one of his missions without even knowing it.

I LOL'd at this.

It would be some nice action to start the movie off and feel like a more natural lead into "Spider-Man Day".

yes.. the movie was good if i can say that, but some scenes were like .... some thing really don't make sense! i hope there will be an extended cut. right now i feel like last year.. like sm3 is coming lol

I LOL'd at this.
speaking of what could be a funny deleated scene:

JJJ & kid was totally misplaced. I mean, this was the final battle, & just when it's getting good with all 4 main characters, they throw in this agonizingly long comedic scene with JJJ & the girl!!! This scene clearly should have been deleted.

MJ's scenes were good & also lengthy which would have been fine with me had they not come at the expense of more scenes with Sandman & especially Venom.

Considering the backlash SM3 got from fans, I'm surprized the 3.1 version is still not out yet. Then again, since SM3 made so much money, both in theatres & on DVD, I guess it is financially smart for Sony to milk as much $$$ from SM3 DVD sales as possible, before releaseng the 3.1.

Backlash? Despite what SHH posters may have you believe, the general to the film was pretty mixed--some loved/liked it, some thought it was ok, and some outright hated it. Batman & Robin, this ain't. More like...Ang Lee's Hulk.

Anyway, Grant Curtis said a while back that a hypothetical 3.1 would probably come out when the market called for it. And, if 2.1 was any indication, that market-appropriate time would most likely be a month or two before SM4 or the Venom spin-off (whichever comes first).

Maybe "disappointment" is the better word than "Backlash". SM3 could've been so much better. Maybe SM3.1 will show this. But clearly, SM2 was better received than SM3, overall.

The only problem I had with the movie is that everything was crammed up.
agreed this movie could have been 2 seperate movies if they were smarter, that would of been another $890,871,626 in their pockets

Ayup. I have no doubt that Raimi's original Spider-Man 3 & 4 scripts were out of this world.

There was no Spider-Man 4. Just 3. That's why things felt "crammed"; because he was obligated to wrap up (mostly) everything in this one movie.
