Dexter - Part 5

I can't stand Hannah. I don't like the way the character is written, I don't like the vacant Body Snatcher performance, I don't like the convoluted and frankly stupid plots this character is only involved in, and I hate the way they have bent Dexter's character to make her fit. Seasons 5 and 6 were a huge step down, but Hannah has actively ruined this show.

Were I new to Dexter, I would give up, but I've been invested for far too long to throw in the towel when there's only 5 episodes left.

And I thought the sense of urgency had dissipated completely already. Boy was I wrong. This episode was beyond inert. "Are We There Yet?" indeed.

there was something odd about the camera work at the dinner table... the way they filmed the back of dexters head.... reminded me of that 'masterpiece' trailer and brain surgeon stuff.

Thus far, I'm not liking the way they've done Hannah this season. I feel like they've softened her a good deal from last season (where she was rather vicious, in her own way). I think it's meant to emphasize Dexter's own softening, too, but I dunno, feels like too much.

But I honestly don't share the hate for the character or her relationship with Dexter. I think it's actually being played well enough, just could be better and more in line with last season. They really should've had her back from the beginning and had the husband subplot as well as her intentions played out much more.

I actually thought the the final reveal with Zach was pretty badass/chilling. I'm so glad the brain surgeon storyline isn't finished yet, it's one of the most gruesome and creepy serial killer gimmicks ever portrayed on this show which is fitting for the final season.

I dunno, this season really isn't all that bad to me, it's just all over the place but I kinda like that. I liked last season for the same reason, keeps you on your toes. I guess I'm probably one of the few remaining optimists for this show at this point. Also probably helps that I lowered my expectations for this show indefinitely after season 5.

I'm staying optimistic because this show can just ***** slap you at any moment and become awesome... its just that this season feels so freaking strange... like really it seems like it should be a 6 episode season or something. between this season and 5 and 6... its like they could be combined into 18 episodes. so much useless filler that no one gives a **** about.

So... seriously... NO ONE finds it weird as hell that Jamie is randomly keeping Harrison at Quinns... then at Angels... i mean... i hate to sound terrible... but they should have offed harrison in season 6 lol

They made it a point of how Hannah can't kill her husband cause that would raise too much suspicion, that's why she went to Dexter. But she killed her husband anyways and so far it seems like its no big deal cause it was covered up.

Hannah and Dexter doesn't do much for me at all, having Dexter ask her to stay just seems so idiotic.

I caught up with last nights episode.

I'm now hoping they let [blackout]Quinn[/blackout] be the killer. It would make more sense that way and justify some of the stupid crap he's done.

Of course [blackout]Saxon[/blackout] is going to be the killer. Even not reading spoilers you can see that awlful set up coming a mile away with [blackout]Vogel[/blackout] behind it.

There are many logic questions this show needs to answer for. I've been fairly disappointed with the last few episodes, and found last night's tediously bad. The preview for next week's looks pretty good, though, so here's to hoping this show seriously starts picking up.

I don't think experimental is quite the right word there...
Sure it is. The writers toss whatever random characters and side stories into each episode without strong enough cohesion. The things that work, they keep. The things that don't work, they remove (Zach). And when they need more filler they add new random dudes like Cassie's boy toy.

Experimental.

Well, okay. That is one way to use the word in regards to writing, I guess.

LOL.

Let me put it this way - as I watch the season unfold, it feels like the writers are "experimenting" on the fly rather than having a more coherent arc from start to finish.

It's my ostentatious way of saying it's sloppy.

Right, I get what you mean now, yeah. I was thinking more experimental in the sense of structure and such.

Nah, that'd be giving the writers too much credit. ;)

Another ****** show... only good they did was kill Dex jr. but who knows what contrived idiotic way they'll explain that crap.

If Dr Danco ever showed up during the series, which season would you place him in? I think season 6 would have been great for him.

this season. maybe even season 2 because of what he does to Doakes.

a lot of peoples are complaining about what have been revealed in the spoilers about the ending of Dexter and I can understand why and I have to admit that the show is not as good as it was before (but i wouldn't say it's bad either) but when i think about it, there are good reasons why they are taking this road:
MAJOR SPOILERS ABOT DEXTER, BREAKING BAD AND THE SHIELD AHEAD
I, like most peoples here, wanted to see Dexter's dark side revealed to everybody but there is a huge problem.... its name is Breaking Bad! you have the final seasons of Breaking Bad and Dexter running at the same time. The season five premiere, last year, showed us that Walt was on the run, and, as the mid season premiere showed us last week, he has been exposed and everybody know what he is. They can't do the same thing in Dexter, they had to do it differently. And there is not only Breaking Bad, there is the Shield too which ends with Vic being exposed for what he did (even if he doesn't get arrested). All theses three shows, despite having a similar premise, cannot simply end the same way.
Sorry for my english, it's not my language.

Is it just me or did the motel scene feel straight out of a sitcom? I miss the show's original, quirky, dark humor. That scene just felt juvenile.

I know death sucks, but am I supposed to believe that Jamie misses Cassie that much?

I think it's more about the fact Cassie was killed next door than how well she knew Cassie. Hence why she doesn't feel comfortable at Dexter's house and wants to be near a cop (her brother or Quinn) at all times. She does miss Cassie but I think it's just tied into that fear of being murdered.

He 'cares' so much about Harrison, but any second he can get rid of him he takes it.
No real dad could leave their parenting duties aside like Dex does. :p Even with a nanny. It's not realistic.

It's still weird to me when Dexter even talks to Harrison. I keep forgetting Harrison even exists.
