I don't think Laurel will become BC until next season......she will need to skill in hand to hand combat and perhaps other weapons when needed......

I bet she suits up at the S3 finale.

I don't know, after seeing on how Roy was promoted so quickly into becoming Arsenal..I have my doubts on how fast they're moving the transformation for these comic book characters.

You know, I was actually expecting Laurel to have a "Bruce-like" scream (from Gotham) upon finding Laurel...it would be somewhat of a cheesy way to hint or allude to Laurel's future abilities with the Canary cry.lol

I much preferred Laurel with the added lbs. SHe is way too skinny. Imparts a "just got out of a cold" look. Eat up!

I bet she's competent by the S3 finale. I think she'll put on her sister's jacket by mid-season. She's going to be training hard, she's going to find her sister's Canary Crys, she's going to be throwing down with the best of them by the S3 finale... and while a bit quicker than one might like, her training will be a lot more realistic than Roy's who went from refusing to slap water to perfect aim off screen in a matter of weeks, and then from perfect aim to Arrow-level acrobatics while shooting in a matter of months, also off screen.

Self-Defense Classes and Ancient Training that puts, and I quote the recently departed Sara on this, the Special forces to shame are two entirely different things.

Diggs could easily beat Laurel at her current level of fighting skills and Sara could wipe the floor with Diggs.

I think the point is that she already has the foundation there for when she starts her training.

As far as Laurel becoming the Black Canary I don't think you'll see that come to fruition this year. After the death of her sister I think she has a rage that is going to fuel her to find the killer. Ted Grant may end up being a way of quelling that anger in some way. Like the saying goes, sometimes you can't see the forest through the trees.

I think if they didn't plan on BC coming to fruition this year, Cassidy wouldn't be working her butt off and showing off her workout. She's not going to be Sara-level, but I suspect she won't need to be. Diggle isn't, neither is Roy. She'll be a competent vigilante, ready for any street fight, able to take on a world class fighter with a little luck and resourcefulness.

I also like that she's getting her own training instead of being trained by Oliver, or the LoS for that matter, she's going to have her own stuff she comes to the table with. I can forsee Wildcat being a very tough sensei.

Ted Grant should be a great mentor to her.........going from a weak character to a strong character fullfilling her sister legacy........I assume she will have her own costumn and weapons

Yep, is going to happen this season, KC is in amazon shape and not just for the boyfriend, that's for sure. :woot:

They'd better have a convincing explanation. I'm not sure that Wildcat will cut it by himself. "Trained by an ex-boxer for a few weeks/months" doesn't sound nearly as impressive as "trained by the League of Assassins and Ra's al Ghul for YEARS." It's kind of like how Roy went from barely knowing how to hold a bow properly to being a world-class archer in the span of like two episode, and all of that development occurred off-screen. I hate it when writers pull that crap, it's so freaking lazy on their part. I don't dislike Laurel like a lot of people do, heck I've defended her in the past. And I'm not opposed to her becoming BC. But give us a plausible explanation for how she becomes BC-level badass, and actually SHOW that development.

I doubt Wildcat will be Laurel only trainer........who else train her in the comics

Remember that this Wildcat has a "mysterious past," which I don't expect involves things like Crochet and amateur spelunking. And while it may not sound as impressive, because we get to see her doing her thing, it'll look a lot more impressive and she'll have a chance to earn on camera what we give every other character credit for doing off camera. That will make her unique and that will make the fights she gets in and wins meaningful in a special way.

If they weren't making a mysterious past-ed love interest out of her trainer, I might have some concern that they weren't going to show her training.

The army trains guy to be killers in a matter of months. So i don't believe its out of the realm of possibility for someone to go from zero to vigilante. Learning advanced forms of martial arts may take longer depending on aptitude.

Anyway the reason I don't think she'll be the BC this season is because I believe she's on a quest for revenge. I see that persona really taking form in the aftermath of finding revenge. Like in this "what do I do next" stage, because you can't go back to who you were.

Laurel is going to have learn a few martial arts plus hand to hand combat.........her training will be much harder to learn and master which should take the entire year plus most of season 4 as well since she won't be using a bow and arrow which may be easier with a constant archery lesson.....will she using a bo staff like her sister?

Dont underestimate Ted Grant. He's a superhero in the comics and could give most martial artist a run for their money. Not only has he beaten Batman he"s one of the men who trained him. We don't know how accurately he will be portrayed on Arrow but it wouldn't be a surprise if he's better in h2h than Sarah or even Oliver.

My biggest question is will she get the canary cry? I want her to have it, as well as her costume being different from Sara's.

I wonder they are going to have her wear a mask to differentiate her from Sara and also to make it easier to use a stunt person for the fight scenes as Cassidy has no background in that unlike Lotz.

I remember hearing Cassidy saying she was a ballerina at one time. So i think she can pick up some of the stunts quite easily.

So it is pretty much a given that Quentin and/or Ted Grant will bite it at some point. Any significant character attached to Laurel gets offed to further her storyline.

I enjoy the hell out of the show but the writers need to stop using the "death as a motivator" crutch. Which btw they completely ruined Tommy's death with that pill addiction/alcohol depression storyline last year.
