I have a feeling the Cassidy lovers are going to be every bit as obnoxious next season as her detractors were last season.

I just want them to try and balance Laurel. So far we had two extremes. Bringing her down and making her the least likable character for the majority of season 2. Then when they actually tried to do something decent with her, had her help out and introduced her to Team Arrow, we got into Mary Sue territory.

Yeah, the 3 part season finale felt like a "please like Laurel' campaign whenever she was on screen. At least they got past self-loathing and misery.

She just needs be constructive at doing her own thing for a while. Throw in some Ted Grant for good measure.

I've been thinking about what might be a major boon to Laurel's story next year; a highly emotive foil for her to play the straight woman to, the same way Felicity serves Team Arrow and the way Slade did pretransformation. Tommy had a nice, likable sense of humor and showmanship that helped strengthen her subplot in Season One, which really only got out of hand when they forced the Ollie's-one-twue-wu development early.

Cassidy's being directed in a largely stoic manner like Amell, and that really doesn't help her more outrageous plot developments. At least when Ollie does something straining credulity, he always has someone to mock that decision.

Laurel odd get better this season, but her screen time still sometimes dragged on or was a case example of character shilling when she learned who Ollie was (not entirely in the negative, mind you; it's just obvious that her contributions were redundant and clearly intended to help the character rather than the plot.)

So if you've got Ted Grant or someone coming, get some "heart on their sleeve" actor for the story. It's the gauranteed way to make the situation at worst more bearable and at best (gasp) actually engaging!

You know, sometimes I wish they would let Katie choose Laurel's wardrobe on the show. The white outfit with diferent pants would make her look much more sexy as a lawyer. Jacket and top with those pants and boots, ready for some kickass class action on the street. But she's always with those not so good looking clothes....

So Katie and Manu just did a panel together in Sydney and Katie made a point to show off how buff she's gotten. Plus pointed out the black leather shirt she was wearing. Manu pointed out all the weight she lost last season to make her look sick. from reddit

Looking at this, I am starting to have more faith in Katie becoming Black Canary. This is good. Keep it up.

I'm liking the idea of her as the Black Canary more and more. Hopefully the writers don't mess up the execution.
