Yeah, it was like night and day how much more charming Laurel was in her five-minute appearance on The Flash. I guess it helps when you're working with better writers and your direction for a scene isn't just "walk into a room and berate someone."

Laurel is never going to be accepted by some fans as part of "team arrow" because they only see Diggle/Felicity/Oliver and that it.

It does not help when some fans consider Laurel a threat to team arrow having interaction with Diggle/Oliver instead "Felicity" having those scenes......I think there are some paranoid fans who see Laurel in any Oliver/Laurel scene

Spinning off of "Batgirl" comes the unexpected "Black Canary" series with artst Annie Wu. The series sees the longtime DC hero team up with a touring indie rock band. "It was a joke at first," Fletcher said of the series pitch. He and "Batgirl" co-writer Cameron Stewart were creating a tone and style for the Burnside neighborhood of Gotham including fake bands that would be popular in the area. In one of the early covers for "Batgirl," there was a sticker for a joke band included on the character's mirror called Ashes on Sunday, and that idea morphed into this new book. Fletcher said the band should sound like "Siouxsie and the Banshees meets the Yeah Yeah Yeahs."


Fletcher spoke to Black Canary's return to her fish-nets look. He said that it made sense in a book like "Birds of Prey" that was all about secret missions for her to wear armor. But now that the Canary is on stage in a band, her original look makes sense. However, "Because she's a stage performer, things won't remain static. We'll keep the base of the fish-nets, but there will be different looks from issue to issue," he said.
A fan asked whether the Canary book would draw inspiration from the classic "Green Lantern/Green Arrow" story "Hard Traveling Heroes," and Fletcher said, "This is the first time somebody has asked me about this, but that was in the pitch. It said, 'This is the female version of Hard Traveling Heroes.'"

She definitely looks like the best at the Canary Cry. Smallville Canary looks like she is yawning, and the last Canary (Is it Birds of Prey?) looks ridiculous.

With Felicity being horrible right now, it's time for Laurel to take back the lead female character slot. Give her all the screen time Felicity pointlessly gets.

+1 wich is a shame that any female that is paired with Oliver ends up being badly written (Laurel, Huntress, Felicity....)

I never said I wanted her with Oliver. I just want less screen time with Felicity and more with Laurel. I prefer her calling Oliver out on his stupid decisions.

I know you didn't say it, but that's what would eventually happen. If she gets more screen time, she won't just be on her own. She'll have to share, and as they start to interact, drama would eventually start to unfold. And before you know it, we're back at the beginning. You want Laurel to be great, or pretty much every other female? Let them jump ship to do that Birds of Prey spin off, with no Oliver in sight.

I think Laurel has had one of the better story threads this season. Without Roy and Oliver turned league assassin this puts her in a situation to add to the legend of the Black Canary. So I'm really excited to see what happens with her in the next couple of episodes.

Believe it or not, Dinah Laurel becoming Black Canary is the highlight of the third season for me.

I'd like to see her form the Birds of Prey with Huntress and Katana or form some kind of Justice League with Flash Barry Allen like JLA: Year One.
Yes, I do want Dinah to turn Barry's cowl around.
