I still have hope for a Hero's for hire movie. Hopefully the show focuses on more obscure marvel Hero's and villains.

Thats like saying there's no point in making a forum before a movie from Marvel or DC is released.

There's plenty of point in it, if only to keep related threads organized in one subforum. And maybe finally merge the two general discussion ones so my OCD can relax.

Exactly, I'd like to speculate on the series before I actually see it.

This is a TV show, not a movie. The speculation and whatever else can be kept here. TWD and Arrow did not get sections until AFTER they aired, and hell I had to PM an admin to get TWD its section after Arrow got its own. So we'll just have to wait.

And I don't think J. August is Luke Cage. If he is I'll be mad. They should have cast someone like Chad Coleman or someone else with more girth.

Anyways I'll reserve judgment until I see more. I'm not anointing it as being better than Arrow or Heroes based off 7 seconds.

They need to spin off an entire evening block. Agents of SHIELD and Heroes For Hire as hour long dramas, with Bob, Agent of HYDRA and Squirrel Girl as lead in sitcoms.

Why would it be an original character? It's one thing to have original SHIELD agents but it's another thing to create a superpowered character when there's so many existing characters in Marvel history to choose from. Not to mention his role was said to be "top secret."

Whedon and co have maintained that their first priority, at least initially, is to make the main cast members matter to thier audience. It's a little hard to picture them using a popular character from the comics in the pilot, who would easily overshadow everyone but Coulson

I'm still thinking it's a hero from the comics, though.

Not really. It will come further down the line, yeah, but Feige has talked about IF being a gateway into exploring the martial arts-side of the MU, like Strange is for magic and GotG is for cosmic. And when Feige name drops a property we know they're seriously looking at it.

Which is why they're keeping his role secret. He's either playing a super or a villain and I was initially thinking he would play some Hydra baddie but now with the black guy leaping off buildings in the teaser..well, 2 + 2. Also he'll only overshadow the cast to the hardcore comic fans. The GA won't know him any different from the other characters. All these characters are new to the GA. I was watching X-Men FC with my brother the other day and he kept asking me if characters like Emma Frost and Shaw were in the comics or not. I imagine Emma Frost is probably more famous than Luke Cage.

He hasn't mentioned it in a long time, unless I've missed it. It seems like Marvel is focusing on sequels to the big characters, and higher risk/higher reward properties, like GotG, BP, Dr. Strange, Inhumans, female SH movie, etc.

He used to mention a SHIELD movie a lot, too, and that manifested itself as a TV show (and subplots in TA/CA2)

I don't know, Luke Cage was basically the face of the Avengers in comics for the past decade. He's still relatively obscure in mainstream terms but in terms of the fanbase, he's all they'd be talking about

Luke Cage having a successful TV introduction makes a Heros for Hire movie more likely, not less. Though like many others, I think the concept would work best as a serialized TV drama.

no. I gathered from a couple of seasons Heroes and a handful of rrally bad episodes of Arrow that I like those few seconds way better already. Eight.
