Are you guys excited for Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel potentially appearing on Once Upon a Time as their frozen characters?

I hope ABC will let Menzel and Bell playing their Frozen characters on OUAT, but until I see it happen I doubt it would become a reality.

They don't much look like their counterparts. Especially Menzel. I will pass.

But I haven't watched OUAT so what do I know

Not many of the cast of OUAT look all that much like their DISNEY-fied counterparts except in the broadest sense.

OUat is a real fun show.

They did a great job with the little mermaid earlier this year.

I saw this today on DVD. I honestly do not understand the massive hype about this movie. Only reason I decided to watch it was because of all the hype. I mean the animation is good as well as the voice acting, but the story is cliche and kinda garbage. I honestly was kinda bored watching this at times. Also, the songs were just average to me. Sure, there were some funny bits here and there but overall my feelings are meh. I give it a 7/10.

I think Lion King, Toy Story 1-3, Up, The incredibles, Wall- E, Wreck It Ralph are all better than Frozen. So can someone explain what all the hype is about this???

I think the movie speaks for itself as far as its originality, etc....if you can't see that and have a different opinion, that's ok, not much we can say if you don't see it on your own.

Not everyone is going to love the movie, and as far as your choices, I loved Lion King, wasn't real excited about the others, so we all have differences of opinions. That's ok.... : )

I would compare this movie to other movies where the music drove the movie like The Lion King, not sure that I would compare it to the others. IMO, the music was fresh, and had that spark of musical feel to it that I never really saw in The Lion King or any other Disney Animated movies, yes they could be taken to the stage....like Beauty And The Beast, but this one has a different feel to it, I loved the musical because of the costumes, not so much the music.

I am all for differences of opinions and I am not knocking anyone for loving the movie. But for me, I didn't really see anything spectacular about it. For example, it didn't have a strong villain or barely one at all. The story hit on themes other disney movies have touched on princesses falling in love, and the power of love saving someone. And other movies had funny side kicks like the raindeer/ horse and the little snowman. I guess people just like this for the songs which were a different.

Yes, a Princess fell in love, but that is not what saved her...the Prince didn't save her, the hero didn't even save her....it was a sister's love and bravery that saved her older sister, and the older sister (with no Prince involvement at all) saves her younger sister because of the strong love and bond that they share. Not sure what other Disney movie we have seen those themes in...but ok. :yay: I also think the fact that throughout the entire movie, we weren't really sure who the villain was, made it that more intriguing of a story for me.

Oooooh, and according to the 11 and 12 year old boys in my classes, Elsa is freakin' hot.....lol

I was saying that the power of love being able to save is a theme we seen before. But I do see the appeal expecially for girls. The songs are catchy and the sister bond is good. I also agree that both the princesses are hot lol.

It took Frozen 155 days to make it to $400m. 75 more days then 14 of the other 18 to make it to $400m. That is what I call legs. Also, still #1 in Japan 7 weeks in. :)

How can you said that the story is cliche when it doesn't have a cliche "strong villain"? Frozen resonates with a lot of people because it's not just a traditional princess story; it centers on the relationship between two sisters, about the theme of being different and afraid of who you are, about the true meaning of love (and not the cliche type), and about finally accepting who you are. The plot twists in Frozen gave people a new and refreshing way to look at fairy tale stories such as this. And the songs are among the most popular for an animated movie, having 11 nonconsecutive #1 soundtrack and a song that is a huge hit despite the fact that it doesn't play on the radio as much as other pop songs.

There're many reasons why Frozen is a movie that grosses over a billion, and cliche isn't one of them.

hey......it's not just the 11 and 12 year old boys who think that...........:o

I mean.....I'm a guy in his 30s. When I saw Elsa let her hair down, my reaction was........

damn-gif-o.gif

which was, y'know, the exact same reaction the young men in Arendelle had when Elsa returned in her Snow Queen gown. :oldrazz:

I'm sure they're a lot more motivated to go to the Queen's parties now........

Again, I think too many people buy into hype (thanks internet) too easily, therefore they can't register any film on its own merit.

all of this.

what made Frozen so refreshing is that it turned the traditional fairy tale clichés on their heads.

and I liked that there wasn't a traditional villain. when was the last time where the main threat to the kingdom was one of the princesses herself?

idk.....given how well Frozen has performed, I think there's more to it than just hype.

Yeah, because it didn't have a clear villain, I thought that was a bold choice, me thinks.

People need to gauge their expectations a bit. That's my point.

When I watch any movie with hype, modern or a classic, I come in watching with a blank slate.

ah, ok.

but sometimes, when something does get all kinds of attention and hype, it is hard to not let that cloud your expectations.

as a result, even if something's good, because it fell short of your expectations, it just doesn't seem quite as good......lol.

That's true. But because this is the internet, I think 60 percent of people don't follow that route while the rest do.

and the thing with Frozen is......I felt the hype really started AFTER the film was released ( or shortly before when the early reviews started coming in ).

I've discussed it before, but I honestly felt the marketing/hype for this was lacking before it came out. especially when compared to something like, say, Despicable Me 2. Advertisement/marketing for DM2 seemed to be everywhere, even well before it's release. Those minions were everywhere, it seemed.

I remember talking with a friend, who's a movie buff, and this was 2 weeks to the day before Frozen released, and she had no idea that a new Disney princess movie was coming out.

I mean......I was genuinely worried that Frozen was going to underperform due to the seeming "lack" of marketing prerelease.

Sure, hype is great especially when a project was seen as an underdog. Something we undervalue after the fact (Like the success of Star Wars or Titanic).

Hype works even better you're an initiative person.

and, as I said above, if something's just pure hype ( and no substance ), I don't think it would have performed so well, and had such sustainable legs, even in the face of some stiff competition.

of course, not everyone is going to like it, and that's expected.

and I do feel that because Frozen is different from traditional fairy tale norms, and music/songs themselves are more Broadway style, liking Frozen perhaps can be an acquired taste, too.

oh, and has anyone heard the story that Frozen animators were laid off without receiving any kind of bonus?

don't know if that's standard in the industry, but it just seems like a bum story, especially if the people who animated the film don't get to enjoy some of the major profit it's making.......
