We need a Tangled/Frozen crossover.

Way too sad for kids... and adults.

I'm glad they did it they way they did....people crying and singing at the same time annoys me...lol

disagree to an extent.

I think having Elsa singing a sad reprise of "Snowman" at the end, if done right, would have been a very emotional moment. Thematically, it would have been Elsa answering her sister back after all those years, only this time Anna's the one "gone."

And, it would have shown the softer (singing ) side of Elsa.

hopefully, they'll add that to the Broadway version, and I think they've hinted they might do so, because there are no camera closeups in a Broadway show ( so they have to convey it through song ).

Congrats to Idina Menzel on her third Tony nomination.

The only time I ever saw that work on stage was when I saw Billy Elliot in London, and the kid playing Billy burst into tears singing the letter from his dead mother. There's a fine line between that working and that being overdone and ridiculous, especially from a kid...but dear god, my mom and I were practically sobbing ourselves by the end of it.

It was Tom Holland, who played Naomi Watts' son in The Impossible a few years later. Jesus, that kid...

Gotta love Golden Week, after having it's highest single day so far on Tuesday (about $5.6m) we are looking at a 456.8% increase from last Thursday today.

Admissions today vs. LT (Last Thursday)

TOHO
Frozen - 21316(LT 3828)+456.8%

109
Frozen - 5098(LT 963)+429.4%

KINEZO
Frozen - 4668(LT 925)+404.6%

Looks like IM3's record is going to be smoked by Frozen.

If done right, I agree....I have seen it "done right" very few times. Also, the length of it would matter as well, I liked how they did it in Frozen though, the silence when everything stopped, was far more poignant IMO.

yeah...the silence and everything in "suspended animation" was a good effect.

also, instead of having Elsa sing a sad reprise of "Snowman," they could have worked that melody into the score.

THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN EXCELLENT....fantastic idea.

Who would you cast as a live action Elsa and Anna? For Elsa maybe former Disney star Emily Osment. For Anna I have no idea.

And even though it’s different now, you’re still here somehow…

Nice picture, but considering it's the parents' fault the whole separation thing even happened (because they overreacted to what the trolls said) it provokes mixed emotions at best. Even when their methods were clearly failing they acted as if everything was just fine and completely ignored how they were messing up their daughters' lives.

WELCOME TO THE HYPE.

Elsa of course!

Looks like a lot of people like Elsa. I know Elsa is a catchy well-designed character and all but for me, I like Kristoff because he is the only character that doesn't have a musical which makes his role in the movie more 'normal'. And him talking on behalf of Sven, I think that's pretty common considering the fact that people in real life DO talk to/as their pets often.

I just noticed the pictures on the wall in the background of the picture above are of Anna's fake memories. Kinda creepy.

I'd love for the parents' ghosts to be around when Anna finally finds out that her parents allowed her mind to be messed with. I'm sure she'd have some choice words for them. Have to wonder if she'd ever be told the truth and if she ever got her real memories back...

That is a tough one because at the moment, not real sure....

Maybe...skyler samuels

I wonder if Disney would ever consider making a movie like this about a heterosexual male friendship adventure time style. I mean, Gail simone said they're looking at making more movies about female relationships so it would be interesting to see male friendships too.

I mean there's Timon and pumbaa but they weren't really the focus of the movie.

Probably not I guess since the main demographic is female. Oh well, I would love more films like frozen anyway

Most movies actually develop more male relationships in general, even when it comes to family, Brave was the rare case of a movie dealing with a mother and a daughter, so i think they should keep expandind the female demographic.

Frozen is crushing it this weekend. Saturday estimates are around 6 million, which would be a new single day record for Frozen in Japan, beating the 5.6m Frozen did on Tuesday. If Sunday behaves like today we are looking at a $12 million eighth weekend:wow:. The biggest weekend Frozen has had up until now was 8.6m and its opening weekend was 7.5m (opening weekend is still its lowest weekend so far).
Someone in the Japan thread at boxoffice.com mentioned this will be the biggest 8th weekend number by a wide margin and I'm trying to find out what the 8th weekend record is.

Spirited Away probably have the record since it's the biggest movie of all time in Japan

Spirited Away is indeed #1 all time in Japan. In dollars it did $230m, but the exchange rate was much worse then and it did over 30 billion Yen to hit that number.
The way Frozen is performing it actually has a shot at catching SA in $, but the exchange rate is more favorable and $230m is only about 25 billion Yen now.
While the Japan record would be nice I'll be happy with any number over $190m, enough to pass Iron Man 3 as the #1 movie worldwide for 2013, although getting past $200m would also be amazing, only 2 movies have done that in Japan.

A $12m weekend looks locked. Sunday is already the biggest day in Frozen's run and we only have the numbers up until 7 pm. Its biggest 2 days and biggest weekend coming in its 8th weekend, now that's impressive. Golden Week still has 2 days left before numbers go back to normal, although "normal" for Frozen in Japan is damned impressive.

So we are looking at a $12m weekend and $27m for the past week. The total as of today should be $145m-$146m and still going strong. At this point I can't see it missing $200m now, and nobody knows how high it could go.

===================================================

Edit- I have to add the amazing pre-sales happening for Monday. I don't know if it can top the amazing Sunday number, but it looks possible with so many sell outs happening so early.

^ Pretty impressive. Has Frozen ever stopped in Japan since 4 or 5 months ago for its release date, or does it just continue until no one watches it at a movie theater anymore?

Japan was Frozen's last market and didn't open until March 14 2014. This was its 8th weekend there, it has been #1 every weekend with this weekend being its biggest by far. It could be playing another 3 months at this rate. The good news is that all the really big competition opened the last 2 weeks, it has a pretty smooth road ahead for a while now.
I don't think there are any big Japanese releases coming soon and no big Hollywood movies until X-Men: Days of Future Past on May 30, which probably won't be that big there.
