Disney's Frozen - Part 3

I hate the fact that just because Idina was a little off in her Oscar performance (but still amazing), the people on the Internet were bashing her as a bad singer. I know there are some distractors of her singing style but some of their comments were simply ridiculous.

Oh, you should see the discussion going on over at this other forum I read...which is a Disney forum no less:

-John Travolta probably did her a big favor, no one knew who she was before this and she wasn't famous at all.

-Actually, she's a Tony-winning theater actress who's starred in a number of hit Broadway musicals, as well as the film version of one and the London production of another, and has also appeared in Enchanted, Glee, and (obviously) Frozen.

-Yeah, well that's theater...if you don't follow that, you wouldn't know who she was.

-Understandable, but that doesn't mean she wasn't famous. That's like saying Michael Jordan isn't famous because you don't follow basketball.

-Why are her fans getting so touchy?

-No one's getting mad...just pointing out that she had an extensive career before Sunday night.

-OK, but I still disagree that she's famous.

*That person goes off to start new thread and poll to find out how many people actually knew who she was.

*The "Yes, I totally knew who she was!" option on that poll is currently winning by a 68% margin.

^ I really hate that. On Facebook there was a female poster who said Happy should've won because Phreall Williams sang better at the Oscar. Those people made no sense.

One of the "well, I never heard of hence she is not famous" people is someone who's always posting about how should be allowed to take his gun everywhere, you know...'cuz 'Merica.

So I was half-tempted to say maybe he just wasn't able to hear her over all of the stuff he keeps shooting at. :oldrazz:

Sounds like DVD Dizzy forums. :hmm

As expected, Frozen passed 390 million domestic yesterday.

Frozen (2013) $291,889 10% 1,746 -145 $167 $390,040,114 15 Disney

Up 10% from yesterday and up 7% from last Thursday.

It's the movie that never ends! :awesome:

Frozen has maintained in the top 10 on the box office chart for 100 consecutive days. That's quite a remarkable achievement!

Yup, even Avatar only managed 98. Frozen will stay in the top 10 each day this weekend, and if it can make it through the weekdays too it will probably last through next weekend as well.

Weekend estimate is up for Frozen, 3 million. That's down just 17.4% from last weekend. Another solid hold against direct competition.

For some reason, direct competition has had virtually no effect at all on Frozen. Just look at its drops for the opening weekends of its 3 main direct competitors:

Jan. 17 - The Nut Job (19.4m opening)- -20.1%

Feb. 7 - The Lego Movie (69m opening)- -23.1%

Mar. 7 - Peabody and Sherman (30-32m opening)- -17.4%

That's incredible. Frozen doesn't seemed to be affected by the release of its digital copy, either. Hopefully it will continue to make money at the box office after its blu ray and DVD are out on the 18th.

I really want to see it hit $410 million. But as long as it crosses 400, that will be amazing.

has anyone watched the Nostalgia Critic's "Let it go videos" music video yet ?
i thought it was really well done, there is always such a high amount of respect and care to the source material when he does stuff like that

Do you have a link?

so I was at my local Barnes and Noble, and they were playing Frozen on their Nook display screen!! :woot:

needless to say, I wanted to stay and watch it and pay homage to my Queen.

but alas, shopping duties took priority...........

Yep, I have it on my Kindle....

I think I can hold out until the Blu-Ray comes out.

I think I can.......I think I can.......I think I can........

Saturday estimate is 1.4m, the early 3m estimate for the weekend appears to be spot on.

While Frozen seems unaffected by competition (-17.4% this weekend), Lego took a huge hit, dropping over -45.7% to 11.005m. Just goes to show how strong Frozen's holds really are and that those kinds of holds are not the norm, even for other huge animated movies, like Lego.

Found this on Youtube. It's Idina Menzel sings "Let it Go" from Frozen at the Duplex, pre-Oscar practice, with Bobby Lopez on piano.

She sang a line in the lyrics wrong, but otherwise she was quite amazing and hit the last note perfectly.

Sang a line of wrong? Ruined my childhood. :meanie:

Worldwide estimate is in...

BoxOffice ‏@BoxOffice 1m
FROZEN: $616.4M Overseas Total / $1.009B Global Total #Frozen

And a new Japanese poster. Just 5 days until it opens in Japan.

That's why it was practice. :o

But anyway, I'm amazed that Frozen is still trucking along even after it's been out so many weeks, and this week it has a direct competition in Peabody & Sherman. Lego evidently got hit due to this reason, but Frozen only had minimal interruption even though families could download the digital copy and watch the movie at home. It's a remarkable feat.
