Disney's Frozen - Part 3

If the Queen of Corona's sister died, that would have thrown a serious damper on the wedding, wouldn't it? Yet in the wedding short everyone seems very happy, certainly not as if the Queen's sister and Rapunzel's aunt and uncle had just died.

Both Tangled and Frozen shared many similar traits, from their character design to their animation style. I think Disney has intended to let these two movies share the same universe from the beginning, and Rapunzel's cameo in Frozen wasn't just an accident; I think it has a deeper meaning than that.

I doubt it. She appears for barely a second in the film. This isn't the Avengers, I think they just meant it as a cute cameo for fans to find.

My nephew is still into Frozen after we saw it last week. We were watching some of the Olaf clips on my phone yesterday (which his baby brother seemed to really like), but then my nephew said, "I like the part that goes 'Let it go, let it go..." He actually sang that part about 4 times, since those are the only lyrics he knows. :oldrazz:

So I asked if he wanted to watch that part. He said yes, so we put the Let It Go scene on, and the two of us ended up singing along to the whole thing. I do know all of the words, however, neither of us can really sing, although that didn't stop him from trying to hit all the high parts. :funny:

Then he asked if we could do it again, so we did. It was so funny!

Weekend actuals are out. A tiny bit lower than the 3m estimate, but not much.

Frozen (2013) $2,954,554 -19% 1,660 -86 $1,780 $392,994,668 16 Disney

should reach $400M by the end of March or early April.

And then we can gloat and will be dancing through the night. :D

Consecutive days in top ten in past 20 years (1995-2014)

1 - Titanic 161 (1997)
2 - My Big Fat Greek Wedding 131 (2002)
3 - Chicago 109 (2003)
4 - Frozen 103 (2014)
5 - Avatar 98 (2010)

If Frozen can hang on in the top 10 through the weekdays it will probably end up at 110, just edging out Chicago. It might even go as far as 114, but weekdays for family films are usually weaker than other types, but Frozen holds better than most family films, so it's a toss up.

^ impressive!!

so..........I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say.............it was probably a good idea that Disney did NOT listen to that one exec who said no more princess movies.........

:oldrazz:

I didn't realize Chicago had that strong of a run. Cool!

is it totally wrong and insane that since November, I've had Let It Go constantly playing in my head, every single day???

Sounds perfectly normal to me.

Fantastic! I'm impressed by how Frozen maintaining top consecutive days. That 103 days is a lot, even beating Avatar's.

I think what is impressive to me about Frozen's run is that it did not have a huge OW like many other blockbusters; in fact, I don't think even Disney knew what kind of hit this movie will turn out to be. Tangled did well, but it only made 200 mil domestically. Wreck-It Ralph was good too, but it wasn't a princess movie. Frozen did it through great reviews and even better WOM, and lots of repeated viewings from Frozen faithfuls, who went back to see it multiple times. I think it is safe to say that there aren't too many movies in history that are like Frozen, in past or present.

no more princess movies, remember?? :o

oh, and I think it's kind of ironic that Disney obviously created Anna to be the main protagonist of the story ( with Elsa becoming a secondary protagonist late in the game ).

yet.......it seems all of the attention has been on Elsa, Idina, Let It Go, etc.

y'know....anything Elsa related..........

Seems like a good busines strategy. We all know there isn't enough interest and they don't make much money. :o

yeah....girls these days just aren't into all those "girly" things like princesses and fairy tales and castles and stuff............

and there's no way boys could ever be attracted to a couple of cute/hot girls..............

never mind great characters, story, and songs.........

:o

Anna is basically Rapunzel without the magic hair. There are a few minor differences but for the most part Disney fans have seen her before. Elsa is a lot more different and interesting to people.

I was in a Disney store over the weekend. Lots of Anna stuff around, not very much Elsa stuff at all.

Another strong hold on Monday with $277,633, down just 17.9% from last Monday, but still higher than 2 Mondays ago.

Last 3 Mondays...

$227,077
$338,298 (+49%)
$277,633 (-17.9%)
