Disney's Frozen - Part 3

This was kind of like a perfect storm for Frozen to have a big drop. 3 direct competition movies playing at once (Lego, Peabody and Sherman and The Muppets), a big opener taking the young female audience, the DVD release and dropping almost 30% of its screens.
That's what you call a rough week.

will be interesting to see if it can rebound a bit next week.

I wonder what was going through Elsa's mind when Kristoff ran in to help Anna in the Ice Castle.

she was probably thinking......"Damn Sis!! You're quite popular with the guys!!" lol

and speaking of Kristoff, again, I'm very pleased with how they portrayed his character. especially for a male character.

he's honest. he's a hard worker who works for a living ( he paid off his sled ).

he's a bit of a loner/introvert, maybe a little gruff, but in reality he's shy, sensitive, sweet, and caring.

and what's great is that it was THOSE QUALITIES that eventually attracted Anna. NOT his looks ( which Anna was purely attracted to with Hans ).

And Kristoff was a complete gentleman in re to Anna's relationship with Hans. Even though he questioned her judgment, he never tried to woo Anna, charm her, make a move on her, or otherwise steal her away from Hans.

He was even nervous about touching her ( when he noticed that she was getting colder ).

and at the end, he ASKED FOR PERMISSION before kissing Anna.

so, to Kristoff, I say........

indeed, in another iteration of the story, Kristoff would have made a fine partner for Elsa, if she were the only Princess.

say.......she runs up to the mountain to hide herself away and there she meets Kristoff, a peculiar ice/mountainman who talks to a reindeer.

in a world where others would judge or fear Elsa's powers, given Kristoff's personality, I think he would certainly have empathized with her and help her to overcome her own fears.

especially as Kristoff is very honest and straightforward and doesn't really "hide" who he is or how he acts ( for example, he doesn't think anything's wrong with talking to Sven like he does ). so, Kristoff could certainly have helped Elsa embrace who she is and her powers.

Frozen's soundtrack occupies the #1 spot on the iTunes top 10 albums, while its deluxe edition album is #7. Two spots for Frozen!

Wouldn't it be cool if Repunzel and Flynn Rider were both in the sequel as main characters with Anna and Elsa and Kristoff? A Repunzel Frozen crossover film!

Japan actuals are up now. It looks like the weekdays were slightly overestimated, but the weekend numbers were underestimated and the total of 29.4m was dead on.

Frozen 2nd weekend actuals: 872.3M yen/ 680k admissions +14%
total 3.01B yen/2.43M admissions.
That's around $8.5m weekend (Sat-Sun) and $29.4m total.

==================================================

This could be another big week, Spring Break begins today in Japan and early Monday numbers are pointing to another increase.

TOHO- Last Monday 9396 - Today 14958

109- Last Monday 2426 - Today 4343

KINEZO- Last Monday - 2004 - Today 4061

I remember coming across those a while back, but several of them are new. They really are cute.

I just got my copy on Blu-ray. EVERY freaking store was sold out (both of DVD's and Blu-rays) except for one, which had TWO copies left.

I need a really good "let it go" gif, anyone got one.

yes they are.

Disney should really hire that artist and turn it into an animated show on the Disney Channel.

Agreed. I think my favourite moment of his though would have to be on the boat at the end. He's about to go hit [BLACKOUT]Hans[/BLACKOUT] for everything [BLACKOUT]he's[/BLACKOUT] done, but Anna just silently gets him to stop and he respects her wishes since he knows she can handle herself. I thought that was great.

Spring Break really boosting Frozen in Japan this week. Yesterday was up +46% from last Monday, and today is looking like a similar increase.

Last Tue Today

TOHO - 21651 33679

109 - 4869 7859

yes.

both of my personas ( X Knight and Raven X ) like Kristoff!!

not as much as Elsa, of course..........:o

but, if there's one thing I would have changed about Kristoff, it would have been to make him not quite as tall.

Frozen is all about defying "conventions." One convention is that the girl always falls for the tall, handsome guy. Even Anna fantasizes about meeting a tall and fair stranger.

Hans certainly fits that tall and fair description. And Kristoff, while more rugged, is still a tall, good looking guy.

ah well...........

maybe if they do a sequel, and Elsa finds her own love interest, she can meet a more "scholarly" type ( like Milo ).
