so, the American Idol contestant, Majesty, who sang Let It Go a few weeks ago ( and not very well, imo ), left the competition last night, after being in the bottom 3 for three weeks in a row.

was it a coincidence that the her first trip to the bottom 3 happened after she tried singing Let It Go?

I don't think so. it almost felt like America turned on her after she did a meh job singing one of the most popular songs right now.

you've got to have a big voice to sing that song, and you've got to hit those high notes!

I guess that song was foreshadowing her music career.

Even that 11 year old girl named Lexi Walker on YouTube sang better than her.

So, just watched it again for the 4th time!!

unlike some films, this actually gets better each time I watch it!

I think back to how worried I was before Frozen was released. I was concerned that it didn't seem to have a lot of buzz and that it wouldn't do so well at the BO. especially compared to something like Despicable Me 2.

well, we all know how well it has performed. it's blown past all expectations!! and that's because it really is truly something special!!

And Elsa!! Not only is she beautiful and elegant, but she's also complex and interesting. She really brought something unique to the Princess lineup, and that's probably a main reason why she seems to be so popular.

And Anna is just so quirky and adorable, and a delight to watch. For me, she was actually the funniest character, not Olaf.

And Kristoff, as I've stated before as X Knight, is really a great male lead. He embodies good qualities, such as sensitivity and empathy and selflessness.

And Hans........well.................I actually noticed that there's a subtle nuance about how he looks throughout the film. When we 1st meet him, of course, he does look like Prince Charming. he's good looking and handsome and he seems to share Anna's quirkiness a bit.

But, when he betrays Anna, and when he taunts Elsa at the end, you can see a shift in how his face looks. it shows off cunning, manipulation, arrogance. as the expression says, the "real face" was revealed.

She did not get the least amount of votes because of the song selection, its probably because of her singing ability and performance.

is she the one in that crazy African drum version of Let It Go??

Yes, she's the one. She was later invited by ABC's GMA to participate in that huge sing-along event of Let It Go in that week that leads to the Oscar Sunday.

Another good weekend for Frozen in Japan.

It's looking like Today is somewhere between flat and -5% from its first Saturday. If Sunday is roughly the same we are looking at a 7-7.5m weekend (2 day) and about 51m total.

Some early admissions numbers...

109
Saturday(3/15):13,123
Saturday(3/29):12,698(-3%)

KINEZO
Saturday(3/15):10,434
Saturday(3/29):10,801(+3%)

TOHO
Saturday(3/15):59,192
Saturday(3/29):58,906(-0.5%)

oh, it was definitely the latter. she missed pretty much all the big/high notes.

although, the way they chopped up/arranged the song didn't really help either.

this song needs some time to breathe and build up to the finale. if you chop it up and rush through it, you take away from the song.

Saw Josh Gad's interview with Bill Maher on Real Time the other day, great interview and I had no idea that he wrote for USA Today. I've been meaning to see this film for quite some time, that interview may make me catch it sooner (plus, his comments on his Fantastic 4/The Thing casting rumours were pretty hilarious and ridiculous on the end of the people who were disrespecting him due to the rumours).

ah, thanks!

she did have a nice voice.

not really sure the African drum part was needed though........lol.

It's a good movie. Tangled and Wreck-It Ralph are better as far as writing and storyline go, I feel, but Frozen has its moments.

As of last Sunday Frozen had made $1.051 Billion worldwide. By tomorrow estimates for Japan are $21 million for this week, and maybe 200-300k from other markets.
That is enough to not only pass Toy Story 3 ($1,063.2m)as the biggest animated movie ever, but also to move it up to #10 all time by passing Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest ($1,066.2m).

By next week it should pass The Dark Knight Rises ($1,084.4m)for #9 and should eventually settle around #6.

I liked the movie OK but man, I just don't get why it's SO popular. I never would have thought it'd make more than about $250 million US.

I have to disagree, I thought the storyline of both Tangled and Wreck-It Ralph were weak, especially Tangled.

The storyline of Frozen is fresh, and a far cry from other Disney animated projects.

any estimates on this weekends domestic?

Around 350k. Frozen lost about 66% of its screens this weekend. There should be an expansion next weekend or the one after that as it hits the dollar theaters.
Friday number was 79k.

thanks.

so it made about $500K-$600K this total week.

if it can just stay steady at the pace for another 4 weeks or so, it can clear $400M.

Agreed. I thought Frozen was a better musical too (although I love the music in Tangled).

I watched the blu-ray today, and I didn't realize that there was a 'disclaimer' in the end credits that Kristoff's comments about "men who eat their own boogers" are his own and don't reflect The Walt Disney Company. :funny:

I was listening to an interview Kristen and Bobby Lopez on the Sirius Broadway channel, and they said that he breaks into that Olaf voice all the time.

This is probably the only song from Book of Mormon that we can safely post here, but it's funny because not only does Josh Gad sound like Olaf, they were completely spoofing "Defying Gravity" from Wicked, which was of course was Idina Menzel's big song in that show. Little did they know then... :funny:
