I'd be way more interested in seeing what Phoenix would do with the role than Cumberbatch. I really like the latter but I think Phoenix would do something pretty out there with the role.

My only issue with Joaquin, is his awkward body shape..
Has anyone else ever noticed it??

Next time you see him from behind, look at his shoulders, it's like they're stuck in a constant awkward-shrug position.

It's a nitpick, and Strange doesn't exactly need to be jacked.

I'd rather get Cumberbatch for someone like Namor, if Marvel ever gets around to making the film that is. His slender physique would be perfect for Namor. Phoenix has that dark, edgy look that would be perfect for Strange. I just hope he doesn't pull a Norton and leave after one film.

Norton didn't leave. He was, more or less, fired for being incredibly difficult during the production of TIH, and going into Avengers.

But Phoenix leaving after one film is the thing I think makes this unlikely.

I seriously doubt he'd agree to the 6-9 films that Marvel would want to sign him to, as they do most of their actors.

That sounds WAAAAAAY more likely than him playing Strange, who will most definitely appear in many films to come. That is, compared to Dormammu or Mordo, who will likely be limited to one or two.

I, personally, can definitely see him as Strange.

However, like many others, I just don't see him signing on for a project like this. Or, primarily, for as many films as Marvel would require.

However, he likely won't be a physical threat until down the road.
