marvel could have saved cgi money for the guardians of the galaxy if they just stuck dinklage in a raccoon suit.

Im gonna say my top 5 are:

Luke Evans
Edgar Ramirez
Javier Bardem
Jake Gyllenhaall
Eric Bana

I like all of these except Bardem. He's a good actor, but I think he's a little too evil looking. Would love to see him as a villain in one of these movies though.

I get that. He and ramirez are my top pics for mordo as well, but if I had to replace bardem I think Chiwetel Ejiofor would be a great Strange. Adds a little more divirsity to the MCU as well.

Your list is okay, I guess. But how do you feel about Jack Huston?

Kane, Jack Huston is the worst idea you've ever had, and I am extremely disappointed in your judgement.

But Jack Huston, though.

Realistically, I don't think Jack Huston is attractive enough to play Strange.

On the other hand, Jack Huston may be TOO sexy.

Jack Huston can do a fine job in the role. Jack Huston however needs to lose about 30 pounds.

While I find the idea of Dinklage as Strange intriguing, I don't think it would be a correct casting choice.

The thing about Strange is that, pre-accident, he felt and acted completely superior to everyone around him, and wouldn't deign to come down to their level. There's something of a lack of empathy there. Unfairly or not, I don't think you would be able to capture that kind of persona with Dinklage or anyone with what society perceives as a disability.

In Game Of Thrones, Tyrion Lannister (Dinklage's most acclaimed role) claims that he feels a kind of kinship with bastards and other oddities since he knows that that's how society has perceived him throughout his life. Either with pity or loathing at his so-called grotesque appearance.

In most societies, dwarfism is considered a disability. Rationally we know that it ought not to matter, but it is what it is. Strange on the other hand, pre-accident, considers himself the best humanity has to offer. Intellectually, physically and aesthetically he towers above everyone he encounters. He's at the peak of his chosen field, and he thinks of himself as what humanity should aspire to be.

After the accident, a more humble man would've accepted the fact that he cannot be a surgeon anymore, and explore the various other vocational options in front of him. But not Strange. Since he cannot be the absolute best in his field, he completely unravels.

fixxxer that was very eloquently put.

A step better than the no f'ing dwarves vibe. :woot:

Thanks, Jasyn.

Onto the widely rumored casting choices: Tom Hardy, Cumberbatch and Leto. At this point none of them really sell me on Strange. Not completely. Think back to when D'Onofrio was cast as Kingpin. Yes, he was already atop my Kingpin-casting-wishlist, but as soon as the news hit I immediately thought, yes... yes he's Kingpin. Of course he is! I just don't get that vibe with those three guys.

Don't get me wrong, they're all really good actors and I've thoroughly enjoyed them in every one of their performances, so I wouldn't be at all bent out of shape if one of them lands the gig. Maybe one of them can pull a Heath Ledger (I know... such an incisive and rarely cited example :p) and completely own the part.

Oh, and Jack Huston's completely wrong for the role. You all are overlooking the only viable casting choice for Strange: Jack Huston.

(But seriously, I think he'd be a pretty good choice.)

i like Jack Huston for Strange, but i feel more like Jack Huston taking over Tony Stark when RDJ is done, and hopefully a more Tony Stark Tony Stark, and not just RDJ dressed as Iron Man

I read this earlier. If he is right for the role then fine, but I'm getting tired of people (whether they be directors, Hollywood producers, or posters on SHH) wanting an ethnic actor to play someone, just to "diversify" the Marvel Universe. "They need a hispanic actor to get some diversity amongst the Marvel characters" - or if he would join the Avenger's team.

If the character is black then cast a black actor, if the character is white then cast a white actor. I don't see why they have to change the Marvel Universe and its characters just because a few people cry they want more diversity. I don't get it. Let's change it "just because." If a hispanic/black/white/asian actor is a great fit for the role, I'm not against that. But lately it comes across like they go looking for a person of different ethnicity "just because."

So it's still assumed they are looking for someone with a bit bigger name than they would usually go after right? Since according to a lot of reports they want Strange to be the centerpiece of phases 3 and 4. So far I'm not really feeling the big 3 supposedly on the short list. If I was going with a big name I'd probably try for Viggo, but if it's more of an unknown than I'd like to see Pedro Pascal.

And did anyone else catch the New Avengers Annual that came out last week? It focused all on Strange and was amazing, the art blew me away and I'd love for them to get that kind of feel for the movie. It also dealt with the loss of his first patient which he arrogantly assumed would never happen and I could see that part working in the movie too. In the 616 though Strange is going to some pretty dark places right now using blood magic and attempting to sell his soul for power. I doubt that is how they would start him off in the MCU but it is a cool path they could go down in future movies

I was interested in Viggo but he said that he wasn't a fan of films with too much CGI, so I took his name out of the running. Cumberbatch is on my list, but he's fairly busy. Luke Evans is my top choice.

the best argument for this is michael clarke duncan as the kingpin. as long as the actor/actress cast can do justice to the role, then by all means cast him or her irregardless of race. But, if it's integral to the character that he be of a certain race then the filmmakers should not deviate from that.

anyway, going back to the kingpin casting, i think d'onofrio will knock it out of the park. a really inspired casting choice.

No to Dinkalge. Love him as an actor, but there's a limit to which a guy just isn't physically right for the role.

Parker, you may leave this thread right now. :o

Dinklage could play a cardboard box and make it compelling!
