I guess what I mean by star power is an actor that can lead and has led films. Rufus Sewell is not this and that caliber of actor is what prompted my comment.
That is also my understanding of star power.

Besides these guys being relatively unknown (Hemsworth being almost completely unkown), RDJ was essentially blacklisted due to his bad boy behavior and Chris Evans was pretty much typecast as Cap's complete opposite.

And if the intent is for Strange to spearhead the MCU post-RDJ, getting a guy who won't commit to many movies doesn't seem like the proper direction either.
Take that up with Feige then I didnt suggest that.
By the way all the photos you guys have just posted aligns eith my comment as well. Thank you
I heard they see Strange spearheading the MCU but never saw the actual Feige comment. Link?
How? I'm lost... Hemsworth and Pratt haven't led anything until Thor and now Star-Lord blasted them into leading men.
Who ever it is will be someone with enough star power or up and coming star power to carry the MCU. Most suggestions are not there are never will be.
Someone with star power or someone who might in the future. So just an actor then.
When and where did this come from?
Again, the suggestion that prompted my comment, Rufus Sewell. So no, not just an actor. He is not of the caliber to carry a Dr. Strange let alone the MCU.
Radcliffe is still Harry Potter for 99% percent of the General Audience. If he's doing a Marvel movie, many people will be "Harry Potter in a Marvel movie?"
My original comment that started this current talk:
Ya never know, he could be up and coming. Up and coming doesn't mean young, just means he's not popular enough.......yet.
Rufus Sewell is a great actor and could easily rock the role, considering their choices in the past it doesn't seem that out of the box. Chris Hemsworth and Chris Pratt weren't up and coming until Marvel got interested in them. Considering the process that got Chris Pratt the job involved turning over every rock until they found someone just right, it could only be a matter of time before they find the right guy. I don't really think "right" will be determined by star power because it doesn't seem to have mattered that much yet.
So because YOU don't think so, they obviously won't have star power? Did you foresee Hemsworth being a star? He was literally the most unheard of actor ever when picked (Trek's small role and The Perfect Getaway [which I somehow own] were pretty much it), and everyone was disappointed that it wasn't Alexander Skaarsgard, who was also very small time.
Of the names, guys like Evans and Armitage have the potential to blow up if given the opportunity. Heck, Evans is about to lead a Dracula flick which looks pretty damn cool to me.
Oh for phucks sake. For the last time, Rufus Sewell and other actors of that ilk, that have been and still get nominated by people here are not the type of actor that will get the role of Stephen Strange. It will be an actor that has star power or is up and coming. It will not be a perennial supporting actor that will be chosen to either carry the Dr. Strange or the MCU going forward after phase III. Feige said they are lining the Dr. Strange film up to anchor going forward the way Iron Man did at the start of the MCU as we know it. They hit lightning in a bottle with RDJ nor were they planning a movie to anchor a huge movie universe when they cast Iron Man.
I agree.I can understand that being how the studio wants to go, for sure. Doesn't mean they wouldn't be good choices to play Strange. But fair enough -- I misunderstood.
My attempt at a cast:
Dr. Strange- Joaquin Phoenix
Baron Mordo- Daniel Craig
Clea- Emily Blunt
Wong- Jackie Chan
Dormammu- Al Pacino
I'm at a loss for who could be a good choice for the Ancient One.
