Didn't know you watched Sherlock.
I hope you and Suzanne don't kill me but I still haven't seen GOTG. I'm going to see it, I just haven't gotten around to it.

I wouldn't worry about them killing you.

I read this news and was instantly relieved considering some of the other rumored candidates. Great and obvious casting. Obviously. Thought Cumberbatch was off the table since Comic Con, so definitely a surprise. My second choice after Phoenix so I'm stoked. :word:

You definately need to get on that and watch the 2st episode of season 3 - the way he does his reveal to Watson is simply brilliant.

This might be my tonight's television viewing.

My husband is a huge BC fan… after watching STiD. Which, incidentally, I really loathed the fact that he played Khan in it. Not his performance, which was actually great… but… yeah. Not going there again.

Trying to reconfig. my whole MCU worldview right now. So bear with me for a mo' folks!!

If people thought Cumberbatch couldn't act than they wouldn't be saying "he'll do fine."
The real question is if any saying it have seen him act. The man is fantastic. Saying, "he'll do fine", is like saying Sir Ian did fine as Gandalf.

I don't understand, "he'll do fine". Do people think Cumberbatch can't act or something?

I think he's a good actor. I'm just not blown away by some of his work as others are. That's why I think he'll do fine.

I'm more than happy for Cumberbatch to get the role. I'm actually surprised how divisive this choice is now to be honest.

It seems like if he had been announced a year ago, the love would have been unanimous for this casting. Funny how things change.

Either way, exciting times. Now just be Black Panther please Marvel.

The only time he has been fantastic was Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. He was terrible as Kahn, he's fun as Sherlock, he was forgettable in August: Osage County and Fifth Estate. He's getting great reviews for The Imitation Game, and I am looking forward to that.

AAAARGH!!

The side of me that gets really contentious with loads of negativity by being positive is actually talking to the part of me that's all sorts of "MEHHHHHHH" about Benny Kumquatbizzle. Now I'm playing Devil's Advocate with myself.

"Ugh… he's so boring a choice!"

"But he's a great actor!"

"But they fan cast him in everything! Just another (white) dude…"

"He may win the Oscar this year!"

MARVEL WHY U MAKE ME DO THIS TO MYSELF?!

if you are to watch it, all i'll say is 'moustache', 'french waiter' and 'headbutt'. :woot: you'll love it. brilliantly written, directed and acted.

While I was hoping for a more out of the box choice like Hawke, if Marvel vouches for him then
I will defer to their judgment of course as they have earned it.

Talented as Hawke may be, I don't think he'd be one Marvel would be willing to stake a franchise on. No idea where his name came from and I just couldn't buy it. I'd say of all the names mentioned, Leto probably came close. Phoenix at one point too but both parties perhaps mutually agreed the role wasn't right.

Phoenix is the type though that would be too good to let go of, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him pursued for a different role down the line.

Wow. This is disappointing. Don't get the love for this guy. Never have. Do not like his looks at all.

They picked an actor whose presence and voice screams AUTHORITY, and that's a big part of Strange. Not to mention the arrogance of pre-accident Strange is second nature to BC after all his time so Holmes. This is a man who voice wise is literally, pitch perfect. I couldn't be more pleased. Now on to filling out the rest of the characters in the mythos: Wong, The Ancient One, Mordo...

You'd never know that Loki is a master wizard with how he's been portrayed in the films.

Not unless you actually listen to the dialog in these films since in Thor1 Hogun clearly says Loki is a master of magic.
