Personally if Cumberbatch doesn't "disappear" in the role, that's fine with me. RDJ doesn't disappear into Stark in the least.

That is a scene I now want to see so bad... Stark and Strange going at in a Science vs Magic debate.
With Thor and Banner on the sidelines watching.

He'll be fine.

He should work well.

He's a pretty good actor.

I AM ALL ****ING OVER THIS. YESSS!!! :awesome::applaud:awesome:

Now the internet can stop casting him in every other superhero role.

English or American?

It's the MCU so if they change it up and make Strange a UK born man that emigrated to the US I won't complain. What's non-negotiable for me is basing Strange out of NYC in The village.

Were Spiderman, Superman or Batman English because of who played them?

Sherlock debate.

They should get Ritchie and Moffatt to direct any scenes with the two Sherlocks.

Now I absolutely want Lucy Liu or Jude Law joining the MCU and there can be a Watson-off!! (no Martin Freeman… he may be my dealbreaker with Marvel!)

Benedict is a REALLY good actor but I agree he doesnt quite look like Strange. Actually RDJ would probably make the best Strange looks-wise.

But, I think his un-resemblance to Strange is exaggerated by the fact he doesn't have any facial hair and his hair is blonde. Once they take care of those things with a lack of razors and some hair dye, the problem should mostly dissolve.

Then all we're left with is an amazing actor.

Really happy about this.

Hmm interesting to see cumby got the role. Although he was never my top pick i never doubted that he'd be great for the role, so with that said bring on Dr. Strange.

I have never been impressed in anything I've seen him in. This is an even safer and boring choice than Chris Evans as Cap. The only silver lining here is WE CAN FINALLY GET A F***ING DOCTOR STRANGE FORUM

I think this could be a little different. Mainly do to the character and who they cast.
I have no idea what Marvel will do but the accent he actually has really doesn't matter because he is an actor. Personally I don't care either way.

They weren't played by actor's known for their mellifluous voices either. I can see a decision being made where they go, " He just sounds better with his natural accent." But I'm good either way. His chops are top notch for the part, he's got a good look for the character and he brings a good sized fan base. This is a really great get for the MCU.

One thing is I'd think they'd want to keep that punch in his voice.

One thing's for sure, those spells are gonna sound incredibly bad ass. Honestly, at this time, more badass if he retained the English accent.

They should have him as English IMO. Every MCU lead has been a straight white American make (except Thor) so some diversity in that area would be nice

To be honest, I'm English and I'd hate for them to do that. I'm a bit of a purist and I want the actors to both look and sound as much like the characters (who I've read for years) that they are portraying.

Wait, Evans as Cap is to be criticised now?

How is it denial mode? The article was pretty clear, that they are in final negotiations and is subject to his schedule. It's a legitimate point, the trades are leaving themselves an out just in case negotiations falls through at the 12th hour.
The problem all along has been schedule it seems. I hope they will make it work. Considering they have gotten this far, I think they might just do it.

I'd rather BC does his normal accent, there is no point having him do an American accent for no reason which may be weaker and off putting, I said the same when McGregor was talked about and i'm sticking to my guns here.

Unless the character is specifically from a country and that plays a large role in the back story and stuff then there isn't much point in casting an actor then having him do an accent.

I may have to bring ear plugs so I don't suffer hearing loss when the bass rumble of Cumberbatch let's loose with a "By the hoary hosts of Hoggath!"

It'll be interesting to see what they do with his nationality. I know Strange is American, but I think all the wacky magical related sayings Strange has will sound a bit better with the British accent. At least they all felt sorta natural with what the guy who voiced him in Marvel Ultimate Alliance did. Just my little opinion.
